Post-Apocalypse: Mated To Alphas Of Orion
Chapter 61: Zevran Licks Her
CHAPTER 61: ZEVRAN LICKS HER
(Amaia)
What was that? Is it mist?
The white misty kind of fog surrounds us, the same kind I felt in the dungeon, too, but vampires have that power naturally.
My thoughts get interrupted when I hear the wounded howling of Ramian’s wolf. It’s like something is choking him or the multiple selves of him.
Several thuds tell me they had dropped on the ground from their mid-air attack, without reaching us.
Is the mist poisonous? But I feel completely fine, even my eyes don’t hurt. I stand there blinded by the mist, the hair on my nape prickling.
Zevran’s fur brushes against my arm in assurance, as if letting me know he is near and I have nothing to fear.
The fogginess slowly evaporates and my eyes adjust to find Zevran standing by my side. He has saved me by diverting the attack. My hand instantly reaches towards his fur and fingers comb through the side.
I can swear I hear him purr under my touch. The stupid heart overflows with multiple emotions.
Tarian had used me as a human shield but here was my mate who had planted himself in front of me without blinking.
Ramian’s lone wolf stands at quite a distance from us. His multiple selves have disappeared.
I can only guess the brunt of Alnitak’s attack has countered Ramian’s power, making his shadow wolves disappear.
His wolf slowly growls and I can see blood matting his grey fur. Zevran has already done the damage and using his power seems to have drained more of his energy.
Zevran stalks forward from my right side, his movements smooth, dangerous and yet powerful. Halting in front of me, he waits for Ramian’s wolf to come to him. I guess playing the long teasing game.
A ferocious growl splits the air as the grey wolf hurtles towards us. He jumps. I ready myself, my weapon gripped between my fingers.
Zevran meets him mid-air again. Their fangs dig into each other’s fur as they tumble to the hard ground, sending dust flying.
I try to remain calm but my heart beats like it wants to leap out of my chest. The weapon thrums in my hand as if alive, I can sense my remaining power surging to shoot out.
The world stills for a second as they both try to overpower each other. Zevran aims for his throat, while his claws dig into Zevran’s sides and I see blood seep out, matting his shiny fur.
The attack seems to have been directed at my gut as I feel the pain originating there and radiating into my whole body. The rage that follows, dulls my rationality. All that remains is the urge to inflict on Ramian as much pain as he is inflicting on my mate.
Rushing forward, I swing my double-edged dagger, but before it can hit him, the enemy’s swishing tail sends me flying back. I hit the ground and land on my hips, pain erupts in my body but is minimised because of the adrenaline rushing through.
"Amaia! Careful," Kacir’s voice comes from behind, propelling me on my feet again.
The battle continues, their snarls rumble out of their chests as both of them thrash each other bloody.
This time I approach more carefully, using his blind spot to conceal my movements until I am near enough. Focusing all my strength on my weapon I strike his hind leg.
"Arghh!"
The blade cuts through the hide and flesh with precision while my stored powers shoot out and stun him.
Just like his mate, Ramian’s wolf stills for a microsecond and then spasms. His body jerks from the contained shock I have given it and then hurls to the ground.
With a force I pull the sword out, the tip of the blade is coated with his fresh blood. It drips on the ground, absorbing into the mud.
I only nicked him with my blade, not causing a severe injury, but enough to bring him down with the combination of my power.
"Team Leo wins. What a tremendous battle we just witnessed. Congratulations!" Jamina’s ever cheerful voice rings out.
Professor Ewine and two sentinels rush onto the field to pick up Ramian. Professor Ewine throws me a deadly look which fails to deter me as I kneel beside a huffing Zevran.
He stays on the ground, clearly exhausted from the ordeal and wounds. Gently, I rub his head, and he simply nuzzles me, not caring in the least that everyone is watching.
"You did well, big boy," I proudly tell him, and he watches me with such affectionate puppy-like eyes.
Kacir and Mintaka come rushing onto the ground. While Kacir bends down and hugs me, Mintaka steps close to his twin and places his hand on his wound.
"Those were some powerful moves. You moved like lightning," Kacir overly praised me as usual, his words dripping in pride.
"Thanks, most work was done by Zevran," I answer, enjoying the feeling of his soft fur against my skin. Just like Alnitak his wolf also appears super friendly and he clings to me, refusing to budge.
"You did good. Don’t undervalue yourself. I have never seen a human defeat two werewolves and one of them was an Alpha," Mintaka’s serious voice comes from beside Zevran. We have our severe differences but at least he acknowledges me.
"Get Alnitak to the infirmary, and Amaia, you meet me in my office," Alnilam’s stern voice has all of us turning to face him. The man is fuming again.
Damn! What did I do now?
Before I can get up. Zevran’s thick, coarse tongue rolls out, and he affectionately gives me a lick on my face. Stunned silence follows his actions and I completely freeze.
Kacir bites down on his lower lip while Mintaka shakes his head. But it’s the silver-haired man standing in front that sends such a glare my way that I want the ground to burst open and engulf me for now.
He is going to blame me again but I didn’t ask Zevran to lick me, now.
Did I?
