CHAPTER 55: CHAPTER 55

Fan Xiao’s POV

One step inside and I realized this was going to be worse than every nightmare I’d ever had combined, rolled into one big, messy, illegal horror show of a day. Park Min had led us into the living room, and there she was. Madam Park. Sitting like she owned my entire life and possibly my soul, sipping tea with calm.

"Ah," she said smoothly, tilting her head and smiling like she’d just seen a particularly amusing ant crawl across her rug. "Fan Xiao. What a... surprise."

I dropped to my knees and started flailing like a very desperate, very caffeinated octopus. "Please! Please, Madam Park, you don’t understand, my omega, Lee Know, he’s pregnant, they can’t hurt him, you have to help, please, I..."

Park Min’s eyes widened, like he was watching a particularly weird nature documentary featuring me and my panic, and I swear I saw him silently groan.

"Fan Xiao," Madam Park said, calm as a cucumber floating in a zen pond, "one moment."

I stopped mid-breath, because apparently polite interruption was a thing, even when I’m basically begging on the floor, tears threatening to short-circuit my eyeballs.

"You... you want him free," she said slowly, each word said like she was measuring my soul.

"Yes!" I shouted, standing back up, waving my arms like a lunatic. "Yes, yes, yes, YES! He is my pregnant omega! He’s pregnant! He needs to be safe! I will pay you!"

Park Min’s jaw literally dropped. "Fan Xiao, what the actual..."

"Shhh," I hissed. "Madam Park. I’m negotiating. This is very important, very serious, life or death."

Madam Park gave me a small, amused smile. "And in return... what?"

I blinked. "Excuse me?"

"In return," she said slowly, swirling her tea, looking like she was about to explain the theory of relativity but in human manipulation terms. "You want him free. What will you do for it?"

I coughed. "You know for someone who kidnapped two men of which I can report you, you’re make a lot of noise"

"Fan Xiao." Park Min said, voice rising like he was about to choke me with words alone. "Are you... what the fuck is going on?"

"Exactly!" I snapped at him. "I am negotiating like a human disaster! And you, sit there silently like a rock star? Your omega’s life is literally hanging by a thread, and you’re what? Thinking about your pride? Instead of begging your mother."

"Fan," he groaned. "Stop yelling. I’m stressed enough."

"I’m stressed enough!" I yelled back, pacing the living room like it was a battlefield, like my emotions were trying to punch the floor out of existence. "Fan, do you know why you’re here instead of the police station?" his mom asked.

Madam Park raised a hand, stopping my entire emotional tirade like I was a puppy she was trying to teach manners. "Because you know damn well you didn’t have enough time to get evidence from the scene and all you have are illegally accesses and hacked. And you know damn well I can bypass any government system." she said lightly, smiling like she was about to serve me a plate of shame. "But you are asking for him to be released. What do you have to offer in return? Ah... so you will work for me?"

I blinked. "Yes! Wait. YES. Absolutely. Totally. 100%. I.."

Park Min leaned forward, incredulous. "Wait, wait, wait. What? You’re going to work for her? What is happening right now? Fan Xiao, are you insane?!"

"I’m not insane!" I yelled, flailing again. "I’m desperate! Desperate people do desperate things! She has a gun!"

Madam Park’s smile didn’t falter. "Ah, but you see... it is not that simple. Mrs. Park," she said, turning her gaze to me like a judge about to drop the hammer, "he cannot work for me. He works for me... but not exactly."

I blinked. "What?"

Park Min’s face did that thing where his jaw literally drops to the floor like gravity suddenly forgot him. "What. The. Actual. Fuck. Are you... you’ll betray my mom for this woman."

"Your mom is too stubborn, she needs a driving force to calm down."

"You’re so wretched. You’ve not changed even one bit, hell yeah I know."

I waved my arms dramatically, halfway between panic and sarcasm. "Yes! Exactly! Chaos! This is chaos! I am begging! You are yelling! We’re all screaming internally and externally! It’s beautiful!"

Park Min threw his hands up. "I can’t this makes zero sense! Wait, wait. So... wait... Lee Know was kidnapped... to... to leverage you?"

Madam Park nodded, calm as if she were explaining how to water a plant instead of explaining psychological torture and hostage diplomacy. "Exactly. Lee Know was never the target. He was the leverage. And your mother is such a devil for making me leave your mom to work with her."

"You both are so fucking mad insane."

"So what do you say Park and Fan, isn’t it time for us to go check on your omegas?"

Growing up as an experienced hacker, I lived one of the most miserable lives moving from China to the USA to Korea, working as a skilled hacker. My identity is kept hidden most times and I don’t even get the chance to live my own life. When the ABO community was made known and legal, I didn’t even like it, I didn’t like who I was and I didn’t like who they were.

And when I saw Lee know, bright, pretty, small, dazzling, I fell in love at first sight and for the first time in my life, I was already to give up everything just to be with him. But the fact that he was associated to me always made him to be at risk. And now that I was finally starting my own family she just thought it was right to make me feel like this again.

But if this woman thought I’ll let this slide just like that, she had something else coming for her.
