CHAPTER 65: THE DEVIL IN HIS OWN GAME

Chapter 65: The Devil in His Own Hell

Zack was sitting on his black leather chair in the center of his underground office. The walls were covered with maps, weapons, and screens showing every part of his empire.

His jaw moved slowly as he ground his teeth, staring at a report in his hand.

Theo and Frank destroyed Ethan’s warehouse. One of his biggest. The one that stored his newest weapon trade. The one Ethan was supposed to protect...

He crumpled the paper in his fist.

"They think they can betray me and walk away alive."

His voice echoed like poison in the room.

Zack stood up, and rage made his steps heavy against the floor. He moved toward the metal door that led deeper underground. His security agent waited by the entrance, terrified.

Zack did not care...Fear was useful.

He opened the door and walked down the stairs into a dark place that smelled like cold and very old, rustly metal.

There was a single lamp hanging from the ceiling, swinging slowly. In the center of the room sat one of Zack’s men tied to a chair.

The man breathed fast, panicking immediately when he saw Zack.

"Sir please," he begged. "I did everything you asked."

"You did not stop them," Zack said calmly.

"They came out of nowhere," the man explained. "Theo was like a ghost. And Frank... Frank knew every exit."

Zack’s eye twitched. He leaned down and forced the man to look up at him.

"That is because Theo learned from me," he whispered. "He studied my work. He trained under my rules. And now he uses those rules against me."

The man nodded quickly. "He is dangerous. Very dangerous."

Zack smiled. It was a cruel smile filled with madness.

"Yes," he muttered under his breath. "My sons turned into wolves."

He stepped back and paced around the chair.

"I raised Ethan to be the cruel one. The one who bites without warning. I raised Theo to be the patient one. The one who waits for the perfect moment to kill."

His smile disappeared.

"And now both want to kill me."

He looked up at the ceiling like talking to the air.

"They must fight. They must destroy each other before they destroy me."

He grabbed the chair back and leaned close to the terrified man’s face.

"I want them hungry. I want them desperate. I want them to believe that killing each other is the only way to survive."

The man shook his head. "But Ethan ran away. And Theo is with the president. We cannot get to them."

Zack lifted his hand and the man’s breath stopped.

It took only one second before Zack swung his fist across his face. Blood splattered across the floor and the lamp above them shook with the force of the hit.

"You think I cannot reach my own blood?" Zack growled.

The man coughed and cried at the same time. "No sir..."

Zack grabbed a metal tool from the table. It was sharp and ugly and made for skin and screams.

"You fail once," he said. "I punish you. If you fail again..."

He pressed the tool to the man’s jaw.

"You die."

The loud begging that followed echoed through the underground like a dying animal’s cry. Zack did not flinch.

He didn’t even look away, and just worked slowly...Carefully...Like an artist focused on his masterpiece.

The man begged again but Zack only heard noise.

Finally he stepped back and wiped his gloves, not his face.

"Send a message," Zack ordered one of the guards by the door.

"Wh... what message?" the guard asked with a shaking voice.

Zack turned with eyes that belonged to a devil.

"Tell Theo that if he wants Danielle to live, he must kill Ethan."

The guard nodded quickly and ran out.

Zack looked back at the broken man in the chair.

"And tell Ethan," he continued, "that if he wants to save his mother, he must kill Theo."

He walked back up the stairs like he was going to a celebration, not leaving a nightmare behind.

He whispered to himself, clearly being very satisfied.

"Only one of my sons will survive. And that one will come home to his king."

The scream from below faded as the metal door closed, and Zack smiled again.

This was only the beginning for his new reign of this family.

When he came into his study, he dialled a number of the baby’s mother.

"Come to me now. I wanna fuck you."

The woman whimpered and Zack could clearly hear her hesitation behind that phone.

"Do I sound like I’m asking?"

"I-I don’t want to. Please! Leave me and my son alone!!! We don’t want to have anything to do with you! You are a monster!!!"

"Monster..." Zack repeated this word like it was a compliment to his ears...

"Yes, Zack. You are a monster! I don’t want my son or myself nowhere near you! Stop calling me!"

She hung up the phone.

*beep* *beep*

That would be the third woman to reject Zack’s amazing offer, and he started to overthink his words.

"Why? I’m so charming..." He let out a laugh that clearly was not a laugh.

"So, any bitch thinks she can just reject me like this and keep my son away?"

Another chuckle fled Zack’s mouth.

"Hey! Enter!"

"Yes, sir?"

"That bitch, Rose. Drag her here to me, but make sure my son stays untouched. Do you understand me?"

"Yes, sir! What do I do about her other son?"

"Kill him."

"Yes, sir!" The man with dark blond hair disappeared and another one came in.

"Oh, so you’re the one who helped my son?"

"Yes..."

"Please, take a seat. I would very much love to know how he is doing now? Is he still alive, in pain?"

"Ethan is very much alive, but he is in pain..."

"Oh? That’s good. You see, I taught him that pain is good for a man, you know...but he never learns in a proper way."

"Who knows..."

"By the way, what did you say was your name?"

"Jackson."
