Pretending to Be an Untouchable Crime Boss
Chapter 340: Lookin’ fresh.
CHAPTER 340: LOOKIN’ FRESH.
That whole feeling and the meaning of what he became just once again was all over him... like he felt that... he is a free soul, a free man as literally everybody died who were his enemies.
There was nobody who left behind and even those who would try again would be killed.
He truly achieved it, achieved something that all started off a misunderstanding, something that he pretended to be.
Though the moment was broken as Charlotte stomach bubbled breaking the silence and deep thoughts.
"We should eat huh?" James asked as petted her head with a smile while Charlotte’s face turned to red of embarrassment but eventually the three of them headed to the kitchen where James noticed something.
Not even one soul was there, to be true this whole embassy looked like more than a mansion.
"Where is mom and Bella?"
"They went out shopping because the embassy isn’t really prepared for a full family to reside." Mike explained, and the first time in James’s life he didn’t feel any type of way about it.
The panic didn’t surge through him nor the what-if feeling, because this whole country truly felt like a fucking safe zone.
"Though in my opinion don’t eat too much." Mike continued as James was already devouring a donut that was on the counter. "Darvik said something about a fancy restaurant."
"Huh, I hope he pays then." James joked about it but then realized that he was a bit too... calm and didn’t even ask questions about the whole thing that happened, though he couldn’t even really ask with Charlotte in their presence just staring at him the whole time."Darling, can you grab my cane and medicine?" He asked her, and without a single word she already hopped off the chair and ran straight toward the living room where he slept. "So what about Finn and Hector, the family?"
"Hector and Finn were both extremely lucky." Mike explained as he tapped his hand on the table. "Hector vest took the bullet, but his life was saved by a doctor who shot the sicario, while Finn pulled off an action movie scene, killed them but got shot in the process and was saved by Darvik’s men."
Now that confused James even more... a doctor saved Hector and Finn killed them on his own... it truly seemed like luck, extreme luck.
"Nothing much happened, Sophia was with Benjamin busting down everybody, while Hector did what you ordered him to do."
"And what was their motivation to betray the family?" James asked as he looked into Mike’s eyes.
"Hector said that they just wanted to make quick money, and their goal wasn’t to betray the family but make themselves rich and then run." Mike didn’t lie as he didn’t know he was being told a lie by Hector himself... and he did it with a purpose.
Hector couldn’t tell the truth to James, that they wanted to take over the family to break out a war, because that would have just fucked him up even more, so he decided to tell a lie that is believable and acceptable and something that happened to many families.
They just stole to make money for themselves, and with the lie he protected James and he believed it, because it made sense.
The cook didn’t kill him nor hurt anybody else, nor did these people who betrayed the family do anything big, so in his mind the whole story made sense that they just wanted to steal money and go live their life.
"Then good—
"I found it!" Charlotte’s voice came again, pulling them out for their talk.
"Oh thank you." James said as he grebbed the cane and the medicine bag from her and looked at Mike. "So I change and off we go?"
Mike nodded to it. "But please wear the..." He glanced at Charlotte then back to James. "The thing."
"I will, but where is my stuff at?"
"Up on the stairs, at the left." Mike said, and with it James went up slowly, the tap of the cane echoing through the embassy, followed by her little helper.
Feels like a... minion. He thought as he took his time and slowly went up the stairs, and Charlotte behind him did the same, slowly step by step following, and didn’t even say a word, just looking, staring at him.
"Is it hurt?" She asked as James finally reached the top of the stairs.
"I wouldn’t say it hurt, but just uncomfortable a bit." He said with a smile, but of course lied, it hurt like shit, like if needles were poking him, though Charlotte didn’t say anything back, just still followed him to the room where the luggage was.
"I’ll help you." She said as James sat down on the bed.
"In that big suitcase on the right, there is a beige suit, get me that." He said as he pulled down his pants, the shirt, and in the meantime, while Charlotte was getting the suit, he took all the pills for his pain... finally.
After that, Charlotte managed to give him what he needed and James dressed up, though with the bulletproof vest there were problems, as Charlotte couldn’t stop asking questions and even crying why he needed that, but in the end she stopped and James was finally dressed up.
In full beige suit, black loafers, and the cane, he looked truly like an oil billionaire, though one thing was missing.
The gun, which he holstered when Charlotte turned around as he didn’t want her to start crying again about it.
Because if something were to happen in that meeting, he ain’t going to go without fighting back.
Yeah, James had his own worries about Maraci as it just seemed too... perfect. Full with underworld figures all over the world and not even one of them killed the other, it just seemed too much to actually work, but thinking about what Darvik had pulled off and saved Hector and Finn... his doubts just disappeared or more like pushed them down a bit.
Though it didn’t change the fact that he felt more comfortable with a gun than without it.
