Pretending to Cultivate in Kindergarten
Chapter 326: Even the Gentlest Will Lose Their Temper
Lin Zhengran chuckled silently and replied, “Jingshi, you really do love roleplay. You used to call yourself ‘big sister’ all the time, and now you’ve added ‘teacher’ to the mix.”
Jiang Jingshi was so embarrassed she couldn’t even get a word out.
She tugged the blanket over her face with one hand and half-buried her face under the covers, grumbling,
“Zhengzheng, sometimes you’re just too good at teasing girls. You were the one who started calling me that in the first place.”
Lin Zhengran replied, “I’m not leaving tonight.”
She was surprised. One of her beautiful peach blossom eyes peeked out at him, full of joy:
“Zhengzheng has never gone back on his word. You’re not allowed to take it back.”
“Why would I? Usually it’s the guy staying over with the girl. Now that you’re the one asking me to stay, I’ve got no reason to leave. Besides—this is my girlfriend’s house, isn’t it?”
Jiang Jingshi’s heart sped up. She completely let go of the blanket that was covering her face.
“Then... what should we do now? Should I give you a tour of the place? Isn’t it a bit early to start cooking dinner?”
“I saw most of it when we came in. Is your room at the villa decorated the same way?”
She shook her head. “No, the one at the villa is fancier. I have more of your photos on the desk there too. This place is just temporary, so I didn’t plan to go all out.”
Lin Zhengran reached out and gently removed her glasses.
Without them, the “teacher vibe” instantly faded by more than half.
Jiang Jingshi blushed. “Why’d you take off my glasses?”
“Well, it’d just get in the way later. Didn’t you just say I could do anything I wanted to you?”
“Mhm... you can do anything. But... what exactly do you want to do?”
His hand reached toward her waist. He didn’t even apply force, yet that slender waist naturally fell into his embrace.
They kissed again—deeply, passionately.
The midsummer afternoon was a little hot.
The air conditioner hummed cool air into the room.
Half-drawn curtains.
Papers scattered messily across the floor.
Jiang Jingshi’s long, silky hair fanned out on the pillow.
Her soft, dew-like eyes sparkled as she intertwined her fingers with his.
“Zhengzheng... kiss me again.”
No one could say how many times their lips met that day.
Though she was several years older than Lin Zhengran,
this was Jiang Jingshi’s first time giving herself so completely to a man.
She had no experience—
but her personality spoke for itself.
As the Eldest Miss of the Jiang family, she was shockingly proactive.
Compared to He Qing and the others, her style was completely different.
It was like she was desperate to hold on to the person she loved—
unwilling to let Lin Zhengran leave for even a moment.
Her delicate fingers clutched at his back.
After a round of indescribable entanglement,
though they’d entered the room at noon, it wasn’t until nearly five in the afternoon that things finally quieted down.
Lin Zhengran lay on the pillow, a faint smile on his lips.
“Jingshi?”
Jiang Jingshi poked her head out from under the blanket, pressing her lips to his chest.
She kept her eyes closed for a while before looking up and saying,
“Zhengzheng really is a natural at bullying people. Let big sister rest a bit, okay? I’ve got no strength left.”
Lin Zhengran held her in his arms, looking into her flushed eyes.
“Didn’t you stop me from letting you rest? You were way more enthusiastic than I imagined.”
Her face turned bright red.
In a rare show of pouting, she lied:
“Do you have to bully me like this? Tomorrow I’m going to make you stand outside in class as punishment.”
He laughed. “What was that?”
Jiang Jingshi changed the subject with a gentle tone,
“It’s nothing. I am Zhengzheng’s girlfriend, aren’t I? And as your girlfriend, I have certain rights... but...”
Lying side by side on the pillows, she looked at him.
“Zhengzheng, you’re surprisingly gentle when doing this kind of thing. It’s not what I imagined. I thought you’d be more aggressive.”
Lin Zhengran grinned. “Where do you even get that impression? I feel like you’ve mentioned that a few times now, but I’ve never even yelled at you.”
She suddenly thought back to when they were little and shook her head. “Hard to say.”
He gave her a knowing smile. “Really?”
She laughed too. “Well, I am scared of you.”
Lin Zhengran flicked her forehead.
She let out a yelp. “Zhengzheng, you hit me! See? I told you, you’re scary!”
He was helpless.
He hugged her.
Jiang Jingshi, exhausted but happy, quietly listened to his heartbeat and breathed in his scent.
They stayed like that for who knows how long.
Then Lin Zhengran suddenly said,
“Jingshi, you haven’t been sleeping well these past few days because of my relationship with He Qing, Lili, and Wenwen... right?”
In his arms, Jiang Jingshi opened her eyes. Her long lashes fluttered.
Almost instantly, jealousy flickered in her gaze.
“Mhm. It’s because Zhengzheng hasn’t even tried to hide it. You treat the three of them so well, right in front of me—
eating together, sitting in class side by side, even showing little gestures of affection sometimes...
There were times I stood in the hallway and watched you chatting with them during class.
Seeing the way you looked at them, how much you liked them—
I couldn’t even eat my lunch. Let alone sleep properly.”
It was the first time Jiang Jingshi had ever vented like this to Lin Zhengran.
Just a small complaint—
but she’d never done it before, which showed just how deep her jealousy had grown as his girlfriend.
Lin Zhengran didn’t immediately respond.
Instead, he asked, “Is there more?”
Jiang Jingshi hugged him tighter.
“Yes. Since we started college, even though we see each other every day,
you barely message me anymore. Compared to summer break, you send like... a quarter of the texts you used to.
And today you said you needed to see me for paperwork. Is it about the off-campus application?
Zhengzheng, what exactly are you trying to do?”
She suddenly sounded aggrieved. And the more she spoke, the more emotional she got.
“Don’t be fooled by how I act. Big sister can be fierce too.
No one at the company dares talk back to me—no one even raises their voice.
Only you are bold enough to bully me so openly.”
She sniffled twice, hugging him even tighter.
Lin Zhengran could feel the dampness on his chest.
“I know I shouldn’t be jealous.
I’m not dumb—I realized a long, long time ago that your relationship with those three wasn’t normal.
But even so, I still want to be with you. I want to be your girlfriend.
Even knowing you’re such a flirt... even knowing everything—
it still hurts to see the man I love spoiling other girls with my own eyes.”
She could feel Lin Zhengran trying to comfort her, gently stroking her hair.
“That’s all I wanted to say. I’m sorry for being selfish and saying all this.”
Lin Zhengran smiled.
“How is that selfish? It just proves that even Jingshi can lose her temper sometimes. And she looks adorable when she does.”
Jiang Jingshi raised her head.
The always-elegant, noble Eldest Miss of the Jiang family—
in front of her boyfriend, she too had a soft, vulnerable side.
“No matter how gentle I am to Zhengzheng... when it comes to stuff like this...
And what’s so cute about throwing a tantrum, anyway?”
He stroked her hair. “I really haven’t spent enough time with you these past few days.
I’ll make it up to you. I’ll make time just for you.”
She bit her lip. “Zhengzheng always keeps his promises.”
“Mhm. So... does that mean Jingshi’s okay with me having four girlfriends?”
She hesitated—then leaned in and kissed him lightly on the lips.
Then, in a pouty, slightly jealous voice, she said:
“From the day you saved me, this life of mine has been yours.
How could I say no? I’ve given you everything already.
But if you really want to live off-campus, then I’m moving in too!
We’re all sisters anyway—so I should be allowed to join, right?”
