Primordial Expanse: I have the Strongest Talent!
Chapter 526 : A battle of life and death (6)
Alex had passively been channeling his regenerative heat aspect of his Phoenix Flames towards his eyes since they were first blinded, and by now they had healed enough to bring his sight back.
He was sick of playing a game of cat and mouse with the Lux, constantly hiding and retreating whenever he was found.
After finding out that his Soul Fire couldn''t express its full power against an awakened like this Lux of such a higher class and rank than himself, the idea of utilising the same methods of guerilla tactics were long thrown out of Alex''s mind.
If he wanted to defeat and kill this Lux, then he had no other choice than to fight it head on!
''I''ve got a 50% damage increase from my kingslayer title, a 40% damage reduction to myself from my armour, followed by a 10% decrease in combat effectiveness thanks to the Sovereign''s Aura effect of my armour, and now my soul fire has reduced its damage and combat efficiency even more! If I can''t defeat it with all of this to my advantage, then I was doomed to die in this fight today from the very beginning!''
Alex reaffirmed his determination and stood tall, facing the Lux with a smile that formed on his face.
Steam rose from the Lux''s silvery blue form, with the heat of his soul fire clearly trying to burn through its internal systems. Yet, its posture didn''t falter.
"You..." The Lux spoke, with it being the first time it had actually attempted to communicate with Alex since this whole debacle began!
"You think your primitive tricks can wound a child of the Lux?"
Alex''s breath hitched. He could feel the power radiating off the Lux as it began to step forward. The Soul fire had failed to incapacitate it outright, and now it was angrier, fiercer and more pissed off than ever.
However, Alex didn''t falter either. His confidence was now on par with the Lux, but he still had a hidden pressure keeping him grounded.
Mira was out there, somewhere in the Void watching him, waiting for him to deal with this Lux. He couldn''t fail yet, not at least until he had really given it all he had!
The Lux suddenly stopped a few metres away from Alex. It''s eyes flared with intensity, and the two opposing side glared at each other through their respective gazes.
"Your fire... a curious weapon. But it will not save you." The Lux sneered.
Alex took a deep intake of breath, keeping himself steady.
"I wasn''t expecting it to save me," he said, making the confidence in his tone clear. "I just needed to weaken you some more."
This, of course, was a white lie. Alex really did expect his soul fire to deal the killing blow to the Lux, but here they were. But it wasn''t a complete lie though, if anything it was a half truth.
His soul fire did achieve this goal – weakening the Lux just like he said.
That wasn''t the worst part though. Alex''s flames ravenously filtered into his stomach and attacked his internal organs.
His body tried to instinctively counterattack back against Alex, but he was too slow.
Alex was now faster than him, and so he dodged the incoming fist with ease.
In fact, this instinctual attack opened up the Lux for yet another attack.
Alex stepped to the side and watched as the fist burst past his face and sent a shockwave flying off into the distance. But he ignored the commotion it caused, instead expressionlessly swinging Virtue''s Edge down onto the stretched out arm right in front of his face.
Plop!
A severed arm felt down with a thud and sat lifelessly on the ground, with some bluish blood accompanying it.
''Am I really going to d—''
The Lux''s thoughts were cut off mid sentence.
It turned its gaze to Alex, locking eyes with him, before looking down at its chest.
A sword was embedded right where his heart was located.
''—ie...''
The Lux collapsed to the ground soon after.
Alex watched on, unmoved by this scene.
He pulled Virtue''s Edge out of the Lux''s chest, and swung down hard onto its neck, separating its head from its body.
The job was finished.
The deed was done.
Alex had won.
