Chapter 547  Internal musings

Alex strolled around the streets, not quite sure what he was looking for. He came to the Primordial Expanse to escape the expectations that were placed upon him now that he was a higher life form and held significant power in the Federation, but also to increase his strength even further.

But that was the extent of where his plans went, it ended at that. After all entering the Primordial Expanse was entirely unpredictable for him, and he was still just as clueless as ever for the reason to that. Everyone else, aside from Mira, entered the Primordial Expanse at the last location they were at, after all.

Alex was somewhat glad that nobody had questioned him on why no-one had encountered him in the Primordial Expanse yet, as surely after spending such a significant amount of time in there, someone should have recognised him in one of the cities or towns or villages he''d come across?

But that wasn''t the case, and he could only be thankful that it was so.

However now that he was here, once again all alone just like his first time in the Primordial Expanse, he felt lost. He simply didn''t know where to start, or what to do.

''The path to power is fraught with many difficulties,'' he thought to himself, reminiscing a little over the journey that led him to this current moment in time. ''But who''d have thought that my most difficult moment right now would be indecision.'' He chuckled a little inside at the thought of it, as it was rather silly when it came down to it.

But it didn''t make it any less real.

''I only have about a month''s worth of food and water in my spatial storage, so perhaps I should start there.''

He continued moving along the streets, looking for any place that resembled a general goods store or the like. However, he stopped suddenly in his tracks, startling some passerby, as he palmed his face.

''I''m a higher life form now... I don''t have a need for food and water anymore!''

He passed by a group of street performers juggling flaming torches, with their skillful act drawing in a small crowd who cheered and clapped along with their performance. However Alex saw nothing except for cheap tricks.

He could sense their auras, each one of them being D rank Ordinary class awakened, and were clearly there to scam the people gullible enough to throw some change their way. There wasn''t any skill involved in their performance, they were simply putting their strength as D tiers to their advantage, with the normal fire being unable to harm them whatsoever.

Children darted past Alex, laughing as they chased each other through the streets. The lively scene should have been a comforting reminder that perhaps there was more to life, but no matter what, the negative side of things were all that occupied Alex''s mind.

Sure, these innocent children could be living their happiest lives in their ignorance, but at any moment some powerful drunk awakened could mistakenly squash them into a meat paste with any passing thought.

    ''Strength...'' Alex thought to himself.

''How can these people live their lives so ignorantly without it?'' He struggled to understand the lives of these commoners.

Even he, when he was just an ordinary unawakened person, didn''t quite understand this lifestyle.

His life as a miner was miserable, and he barely survived day to day life, barely earning enough change to afford food and water. Whenever he saw kids like those running around, playing with each other so freely, he could only sneer to himself and think about how they didn''t know how lucky they were.

He stopped at a corner, pretending to examine the wares of a merchant selling small trinkets.

However his mind was far from such a small matter.

''Looks like I have company, and they don''t seem to be apart of the city guard''s surveillance...''
