CHAPTER 119: ELVEN IMMORTAL WORLD...

The demon stared at where the starship had been with an unsightly expression. He couldn’t believe he had let such a treasure slip right under his nose and into the hands of the humans and elves. "I have to inform the demon lords!"

...

After operating a few buttons, Kathryn linked the coordinates of their destination to the Elven World. Immediately, the ship seemed to absorb the energy of the surrounding stars and glowed with a bright light, then vanished. Kranos could only feel his body phase out, then he appeared at another location; he was slightly startled.

"Welcome to the Elven Immortal World!" Kranos was still recovering from the spatial travel when he heard Kathryn’s gentle voice drift into his ear. He quickly regained himself and then stared at where he had appeared; however, his eyes soon widened to a large extent.

He could see that he had appeared in somewhere dark, but the darkness didn’t restrict his vision. Staring upwards, he realized that the reason the place was dark was because the sky was blotted out by a giant tree!

Staring down, he saw the countless roots of the tree extend to all corners of the world. It was an extremely chilling sight. This was the most terrific sight he had seen. "How can such a tree exist?"

"Impressive, right?" Kathryn asked from the side, leaning in closely.

Kranos nodded, and his expression returned to its previous calmness.

Kathryn began explaining, "This is called the World Tree." She paused for a moment, letting Kranos take in the sight, then continued, "It is said that the tree was created in ancient times by the Elven gods. Because of that, the higher your position on the tree, the greater your status in the Elven World."

Kranos nodded in understanding and said, glancing down at a few silhouettes he could see below, "Then those are?"

"We are currently at the lowest section of the tree; those are common elves. We’ll be heading to the top of the tree where the royal elves stay," Kathryn answered. Kranos glanced at them; he noticed that a few were already in the Golden Core Realm. Although he was slightly surprised, he didn’t say anything.

After that, he and Kathryn chatted casually about a few things. She also asked him a couple of things about himself, and their conversation flowed smoothly; they seemed to become slightly close during that time.

In the blink of an eye, more than a week had passed. Finally, they had reached the crossing between elves without royal blood and those with royal blood. Kranos stared with wide eyes at the branch before him. If Kathryn hadn’t told him it was merely a branch of the World Tree, he wouldn’t have known that the planet-sized mass a few meters ahead of them was a branch of the World Tree.

Ahead, they saw a few cultivators. Kathryn smiled faintly, seeing the familiar figures. Soon the starship came to a stop in front of the giant tree. They had reached what seemed like a gateway. There were seven figures in front of the door.

"Lady Kathryn," a young man in front bowed slightly at Kathryn. He had long, pointy elven ears, and his black hair was long. When she had left with her brother a few months ago, they were extremely worried, but they decided to trust her. Seeing them return safely, they felt pleased.

Kathryn nodded at the man with a gentle smile, "Lugard, how have you been?" she asked.

"I have been good, my lady," Lugard replied. He also noticed Kranos’s figure by the side, causing him to frown slightly, "A human?"

"This is Kranos; he is my friend. He will be staying with me and Kevin in the palace," Kathryn introduced, causing Lugard’s frown to deepen. Even though the humans and the elves had some dealings and weren’t enemies, he didn’t fully trust humans. After all, who would truly know the heart of another race?

"My lady... this." Just as Lugard wanted to object, he saw Kathryn staring at him coldly. He quickly swallowed back the words, then bowed towards them once again, then they parted slightly, letting her, Kranos, and Kevin step into the royal palace.

Kathryn’s voice also drifted over to his ears, "Inform my parents and the others that I am back." After she finished speaking, she continued on. The starship rapidly shrunk and flashed into her spatial ring. Although the elves were stunned by the starship, they didn’t ask, as they knew that it wasn’t their place to ask such questions.

Kranos followed Kathryn, and they entered a spacious hall engraved with embroidery of flowers. Kranos still had a hard time accepting the fact that all these were built atop the branch of such a large tree.

The hall was quite silent, and aside from a few statues of elves, there was nothing else in the hall. Beside the hall, Kranos saw a couple of doors leading to different rooms. Kathryn’s voice interrupted his thoughts just as he was studying the environment.

"Pick a room to stay and rest. After that, you can cultivate or do anything else," Kathryn said gently, causing Kranos to frown slightly; he didn’t come to the Elven World to relax, he had come to find a way to heal his soul.

Guessing his thoughts, Kathryn spoke once again, "About that, the treasure will only appear in two years. At that time, even monarchs will be present. With the time left, increase your strength as much as possible. The fight for the treasure will be immense!"

Kathryn advised Kranos earnestly. Kranos thought for a moment, many thoughts flashing through his mind. After some calculations, he understood that Kathryn had no reason to lie. He glanced at her, then turned around and studied the hall, quickly choosing a particular direction and walking away.

...

Left alone with her brother, Kathryn’s neutral, polite expression disappeared, replaced by a cold, calculating look. She slowly walked towards the royal chambers, and her brother followed behind her. Soon they had reached the room. Kevin locked the door, then glanced at Kathryn, who was lying on the bed, and spoke.

"Sister, what exactly is going on?" Kevin knew that his sister was definitely plotting something, but he couldn’t tell exactly what it was. He knew that only when his sister was with him would she reveal what secrets she was hiding, as she seemed to trust him wholeheartedly.

"Heh, life has just become pretty entertaining... a lot of games to play, truly a lot. I didn’t expect that the one with the unique aura would actually be Kranos." Kathryn’s playful voice resounded in the room, causing Kevin to stare at her in shock. He knew that his sister must have discovered something about Kranos!
