Progenitor Vampire: I Have Many Skills!
Chapter 610: A Battlefield
CHAPTER 610: A BATTLEFIELD
The cave extended to the point that even powerful people like them could not see; this was also due to the strange mist covering the surroundings.
The huge holes below, more like cisterns, were uneven in shape and did not follow a pattern;| they just seemed to be scattered all over the place. Gray felt that this looked familiar.
"It looks like this was a... battlefield."
Matthew nodded gently.
"It should be. The unevenness of those holes makes me think that there was a big battle here that created all those holes, which, somehow, have now been used to hold all that great quantity of blood, like cisterns. Does anything spring to mind when you see it? Do you remember anything about the Beckers that might tell you what this could mean?"
Gray thought about it for a while before shaking his head.
"I don’t remember anything like that. I’d never heard that the Beckers had gotten into a large-scale battle like this, but, since we’re many meters underground, maybe it makes sense."
Matthew frowned. Even with the memories of the Beckers he had, there was nothing about this.
’It must have happened hundreds of thousands of years ago, even millions of years ago, because there are no memories of the Becker Leader entering here in his book.’
The stage was completely covered in blood, but as they went deeper, they realized that most of the holes were already empty. Thus, they easily realized that these holes were made by intense combat, as there were battle scars.
Of the more than 1,000 holes filled with blood that had once been here, now less than 100 remained, the ones closest to the altar. This blood did not look as if it had changed at all, despite the fact that they had been here for a long time, a time that, for now, they did not know.
"They used that grass at some point to fill this place with corpses, but how many corpses would it take to do this? This is too big, so big that it is impossible to calculate its total size," Gray said.
"Not only that," replied Matthew, pointing to the walls, which they reached after flying for quite a while. "The blood seemed to reach up to here. This was a real sea of blood. I guess they must have had hundreds of millions of corpses for this, even more than just ’hundreds’."
No matter how you looked at it, it was simply absurd. Where did they get so many corpses? How long did it take them to get them? And what kind of living beings were those corpses?
What bothered Matthew the most was not knowing the secret behind or the reasons for the sea of blood in this place. He had no information, and everything he saw gave him nothing.
He tried to study the place from end to end, carefully investigating each sector in case he missed something, but he couldn’t find anything.
’I’ll have to check all the books these Beckers have in their treasure trove or go to the Library, but there are so many books there, it’s almost impossible to find information like this. Besides, it’s possible that it’s in the other places, in the other doors of the library.’
Matthew thought about various things for tens of minutes. Perhaps he was trying to search his memories for information, or perhaps he was making a plan. What was certain was that he had lost himself in his thoughts until he sighed exaggeratedly.
"Let’s go. Take control of the city and establish a fake branch of the Allens here," he said.
"Why a fake branch? We could keep control of the city if we want to."
"Everything that is currently outside the Dark Kingdom should be considered unexplored territory and the enemy. Even if it seems cowardly, we will lock ourselves in the Dark Kingdom while we develop. I will make the mafias control this place so those guys don’t look for trouble with us."
Gray nodded and flew after Matthew, who began to leave.
"What will we do with Jack? We can..."
Matthew smiled. "Jack is one of the most loyal men I have. I heard that he was gathering everything I had told him in that place when he was attacked. That means he was attacked on a mission I gave him and subsequently imprisoned. Don’t worry. I will rescue him myself and bring you the head of the idiot who dared to put his hands where they shouldn’t have been," he replied, reassuring him.
Gray nodded gratefully. "Thank you, Young Master."
"Your efforts have made the latest missions possible. It even seems that you have started to track down the rat in our midst, which is already more than I asked of you. Naturally, I will not let any of your people die just because."
After that, they talked about a few things until they went out. For the rest of the day and the following day, Matthew focused on researching all the books in Becker’s Mansion, trying to find the information he was looking for. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get much.
Meanwhile, Gray did his job in Becker City and prepared everything for Matthew’s mafias to settle in this place, leaving everything ready.
They also covered the basement with many inscriptions that were much more powerful than the previous ones, making it difficult even for Matthew to know what was on the other side of those inscriptions.
Then the day came to leave this city.
All those who came gathered in front of Matthew.
"It seems that many of you have several questions for me about why we are withdrawing, and you are not convinced by what Gray has told you. I even see that some of you are worried that these guys will take this as a declaration of war, but don’t worry."
"This is just a reminder of what will happen to all traitors. We are only sending them one message: If they want trouble, we have the power and can use it anytime. They thought that by removing Sir Frederick from the field and thus cornering the Murphys, we would no longer have enough power to make big moves, but they didn’t expect us to be so powerful."
"Regarding the question the Independent Clans have about what I said before: As long as you don’t betray me, you too will be part of my Clan in the future. What I told Becker is not false. You were all ’created’, hoping to one day re-emerge as the Dietrich Clan. When we return to Dark Kingdom territory, I will show you part of this."
"Now, we will return to the Kingdom of Richter and annex it as part of the Dark Kingdom. From there, our reign will begin. Let’s leave this territory to chance, for when the time comes."
When his words ended, although everyone was enthusiastic, they did not shout; they simply nodded calmly and returned to Richter’s Kingdom. Both territories were relatively close, so they did not need to teleport back when it was no longer necessary.
Among those present, Martin Allen looked excited. He had made great contributions to the combat, which meant that a great reward awaited him, as previously promised.
