Progenitor Vampire: I Have Many Skills!
Chapter 613: Little promise
CHAPTER 613: LITTLE PROMISE
Matthew walked along the long corridors of the castle while considering several things. His long walk was in the direction of Emma’s room
After talking to Charlotte about several important issues, he spoke to Alice, and now he was on his way to talk to Emma, as he had questions for her.
When he arrived at the room and thought about knocking on the door, it opened with its soft touch, showing that it was open, so he poked his head in. For a moment, he was stunned by what he saw.
Emma looked out from the balcony. She was wearing a long, black casual dress, the kind she wore to sleep in. Her long red hair waved in the gentle wind that hit her as she sipped some light wine.
Maybe she wanted to clear her mind, or perhaps it was a habit, but Matthew found this curious.
"It reminds me of the first time we talked alone," Matthew said as he came up behind her with a smile.
His voice caught Emma’s attention, and she couldn’t help but quickly turn to look at him.
"Matt." She ran to greet him. "I can feel that your power has increased again," she said, as she touched his face gently.
Matthew smiled, suddenly hugged her, and quickly sat down on a wooden seat on the balcony, looking at the ruined city below him.
Although she was surprised, she did not reject him. On the contrary, she leaned against him gently, to look at the same thing as him.
"Do you enjoy seeing the ruins?" he asked curiously.
She shook her head a little. "I should say that I enjoy the result of our efforts but not the ruins of the city," she said, pointing to the other part of the castle. "This was one of the most beautiful castles built by vampires, but one part was left in ruins, and the other part could only be restored with powerful inscriptions. The chaos and misfortune of having bad owners caused one of our era’s greatest works of architecture to turn to ashes. But even then, I’m just thinking: How can I do better?"
"I’m surprised you see it that way," Matthew replied. "But I should say that, as expected of you. Each of you has a different phase."
"One likes to see this city in ruins because she caused it, another laments it, one wants to passively take it over and control it from the shadows, while the other is completely indifferent and only has her goals in mind... Each of them looks at the world differently, but you..." He smiled and stared at her.
"I should say that you look at it specially. You are concerned with the architecture of a beautiful work, but you enjoy seeing that you can destroy it. You are like an emperor. When they have the power to destroy what they long to destroy, they will do so, but they will admire its beauty first. And in the end they will think: Can I improve it? Of course, I can do it." Matthew laughed softly.
"Each has its own essence, fulfilling its own role in the world." He finished.
Emma stared at him for a long time before laughing softly. "Hehehe..."
"What are you laughing at?’ He asked, surprised.
She took a deep breath and kissed him on the cheek. "Lately, you’ve become more observant. What has changed in you? I can see that your intelligence and vision have reached limits that I might not know."
He looked at her for a few minutes before looking up at the sky.
"Your vision will grow as you understand the world. Just don’t give up on your path, and try to keep going, step by step. I’m confident you’ll succeed."
"That doesn’t answer my question, you know?" Emma laughed a little, but seeing that Matthew didn’t want to answer her, she decided not to pursue the subject.
Matthew then took the opportunity to talk about what he had come to do.
"I heard that your father let slip the Great General I commissioned them."
Emma nodded heavily.
"It could have been my mistake since I didn’t assist them. I’m sorry."
"No, you did well. I was told that you took care of getting several transformed bodies at the end of the battle. Any special ones?"
"Only wild animals. Alice found that big snake. Are you going to investigate them?"
"Yes." Matthew nodded. "The problem is that several died this time, which means that someone else got stronger, and if one escaped, they have information, as well as knowing possible infiltration routes into the Dark Kingdom. That’s really problematic."
Emma looked at him for a moment. "Do you think we have an infiltrator?" she asked.
"In the Murphy Family and on your father’s side, at least one on each side. There also seems to be one inside the Allen Clan."
"That many?"
"They’re traitors, really. They didn’t come from somewhere else; they were already on our side before. It’s possible that they even know my real identity, so I’m curious to know how they convinced them."
"Do you want me to find out who it is from my father’s side?"
"No, I’ll need you to control this new territory."
"Shall we leave it to my father?"
"No. From this territory, I will begin to fulfill my promise to you."
His firmness surprised Emma, but she smiled tenderly. Somehow, she felt loved. "Thank you, Matt."
Matthew moved his face to kiss her briefly and smiled at her. "Do you need to thank me?"
"I still must. Come on, let’s go. I’ll buy you some wine at an amazing place I found recently." She said suddenly, stopping him from moving.
"Oh. Let’s see what kind of wine appeals to our empress, then." He said mischievously, to which Emma excused herself.
"100% natural wine, Matt. I don’t drink artificial things, okay?"
"Hahaha, good wine for an empress, then."
After joking lightly, Matthew flew behind Emma. The two passed through almost half of the empire until they finally stopped over a partially destroyed city several hours later.
A small tavern was there in the middle of it, with the lights on. Nobody visited it, of course. It was very dark, and the entire population had drastically decreased to only a few.
Many of them had already left, while the others clung to the hope of emerging in this city.
Matthew was surprised to see it. ’It’s the city Emma was tasked with. I didn’t expect so much destruction when it was just a corner.’
He also looked at the rubble and saw many bodies exploded by the dagger, which led him to understand that the largest number of victims here were those who had exploded themselves.
They both went down to the door of the tavern.
"Old man, I’ve come to keep my promise." Emma suddenly spoke, knocking on the door.
