Chapter 59 - 059: Senior, long time no see
CHAPTER 59: CHAPTER 059: SENIOR, LONG TIME NO SEE
After two exhausting days, Jiang Tong dragged her weary body back to the prosecution office.
As expected, she was nodding off again during the regular meeting.
"Jiang Tong! It’s you again!"
Xu Rongguang’s lion-like roar echoed in her ears.
Jiang Tong was startled awake, her eyes half-closed, still in a daze.
Xu Rongguang pulled a wry smile, suddenly feeling a headache coming on.
With his outburst, everyone in the meeting room turned their eyes to Jiang Tong.
She was a habitual offender; no one was surprised. Some even tried to stifle their laughter.
Since Jiang Tong joined the prosecution office, the once serious Xu Rongguang had been driven to frequent bouts of facial expression uncontrollability.
It actually made the prosecution office a bit livelier.
"Hmm? Mr. Xu, did you call me?"
Jiang Tong rubbed her eyes with her hand, looking innocent.
Xu Rongguang was almost driven to a heart attack by her, and he started babbling, "Are you still a grade-schooler? Dozing off in a meeting... you... forget it..."
"The Supreme Court has dispatched an inspector, and you’re responsible for his itinerary while he’s in Beijing. Meeting adjourned!"
He knew scolding Jiang Tong was useless, so he might as well cause her trouble; infuriating her would be even better.
Thinking this, Xu Rongguang stroked his beard and hummed a tune as he left the meeting room.
"Inspector? What inspector?" Jiang Tong blinked in confusion and leaned closer to Chen Qianye next to her.
Hearing her, Chen Qianye gave her a sympathetic look, then said, "It’s someone sent by the Supreme Court to coordinate work with our office. If nothing goes wrong, he’ll be the top leader of the Beijing court in the future. A brother of mine said this guy isn’t easy to deal with.
No family background, and at 24, he single-handedly became a member of the Supreme Court representative commission. Sister Tong, you better take care."
Jiang Tong: "..."
Okay, she shouldn’t have asked.
Xu Rongguang is sure a crafty old fox; he always manages to hit her weak spots with precision.
Whatever she’s afraid of, he gives it to her!
...
Beijing International Airport.
Jiang Tong dressed smartly and stood properly by the exit.
The headquarters of the Supreme Prosecution and Supreme Court are both set in A City.
As Chen Qianye said, if the Supreme Court sends someone over, it must be for the Beijing court appointment directly.
But according to the news she received,
The Supreme Prosecution and Supreme Court have been holding frequent representative meetings lately, likely preparing to move the office to Beijing.
And this so-called inspector is probably just an excuse to handle external affairs.
But none of this matters to her; she just needs to take care of this so-called inspector well for now.
Thinking of this, Jiang Tong yawned and lazily leaned against a pillar at the airport.
The plane from A City landed slowly, and the crowd at the exit began to thicken.
Jiang Tong, wearing the standard prosecution office attire, was easy to spot among the crowd.
"Hello."
A deep, mellow male voice suddenly sounded close to her ear.
Hearing the voice, Jiang Tong turned her head. It was a boy in a white shirt, with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on his tall nose. He was now holding a light gray suitcase.
Jiang Tong narrowed her eyes; she had seen his photo before coming to the airport and didn’t think much of it at the time.
But now, seeing him in person, he looked familiar as if she’d seen him somewhere before.
"I’m Chen Changlu." The boy paused, then continued, "Senior, long time no see."
