CHAPTER 104: CHAPTER 104 REMEMBER THAT DAY (6)_1

"Would this have happened if not for you?" As soon as Rachel Bailey saw Hansen Ruiz, even though she knew he had come to assist her—and considering his status, he had actually been willing to personally show up at the City Management Bureau on her behalf—she should have been utterly grateful, but she was still very angry.

Had Hansen Ruiz not spread Glades Horne’s words, I wouldn’t have been treated like a pawn trying to climb the social ladder. I could still have an accounting job, sitting comfortably in an office every day. Why should I suffer such a fate now?

Though it was clearly Glades Horne’s intention, and his actions were just a display of affection for Julia Bluen, Rachel Bailey’s heart was set on blaming Hansen Ruiz as the main culprit.

"Is this how you wrong your benefactor?" Hansen Ruiz asked with an amused chuckle. This feisty little woman, why is she always holding me responsible? It wasn’t me who caused her to be entangled by those companies; it was Glades Horne, okay? I was simply following my boss’s orders.

He moved to stand by Rachel Bailey’s side, not even glancing at the city official opposite them, but instead looked down at her with a half-mocking, half-smiling expression.

When the switchboard operator at Valence Group called his Secretary, the Secretary, thinking of the matter as a joke, carefully and tentatively called him. Once he heard Rachel Bailey’s name, he perked up. I find my interactions with her interesting. This little woman has a sharp tongue. Perhaps because I’m used to the flattery of others, I surprisingly enjoy listening to her biting words. It’s bizarre indeed.

Then, he ordered his network of contacts to find Rachel Bailey’s location and the nature of her trouble in the shortest possible time. Upon learning Rachel had been caught by the city management for conducting "ghost business" and ended up arguing and tussling with them, which angered the city management enough to bring her back to their bureau, he burst into laughter.

The situation had eventually led to what it was now.

He, the distinguished Chief Assistant of Valence Group, had eagerly trotted all the way over here.

"It’s all you! Always you!" Rachel muttered, turning away to avoid his mocking stare. Although his eyes are gentle, his gaze is deep. Looking into his eyes feels like falling into an abyss, and I don’t like it.

"HEH."

Hansen Ruiz chuckled and then turned his attention to the city official sitting opposite him, asking very gently, "Does she have to pay a fine?"

The man shook his head, curiously assessing Hansen Ruiz. He noted Hansen Ruiz’s polite and gentle demeanor, which exuded an air of warmth and nobility. This man’s identity must be distinguished, the official thought, but I can’t quite place him right now.

"Then may I take her with me?"

The official nodded, still not recognizing him.

"I want my things back, those clothes cost me several thousand, and even that old electric bike was expensive," Rachel whispered, tugging at his sleeve.

Glancing at her, Hansen Ruiz smiled again at the city official, "Can we get them back?"

The man shook his head.

"You can redeem them by paying," Rachel blurted instinctively, having heard of similar cases.

Hansen Ruiz looked at her again, his eyes growing deeper, his lips curved in a nearly smiling manner as he said, "You know this, so why don’t you pay?"

Her own stuff, and she’s waiting for me to pay to redeem it?

Rachel laughed, a bit embarrassed. I don’t have any money on me, after all.

Seeing her embarrassed laughter, which carried a hint of forthrightness, a nameless expression flitted across Hansen Ruiz’s eyes.

In the end, naturally, the very kind Chief Assistant Ruiz, recalling that they had both once been part of a wedding party (he as best man, she as bridesmaid), generously paid to redeem her confiscated goods.

「Leaving the City Management Sub-Bureau.」

Hansen Ruiz climbed into his car, found a pen, and pulled out a piece of paper, writing down his mobile number in a hurry. He rolled down the window and handed the paper to Rachel, saying, "Here, this is my mobile number."

Rachel gratefully accepted the paper and thanked him sincerely, "Mr. Ruiz, thank you."

"No need for thanks. I did this considering Miss Julia’s—oh, no, I mean because of the young madam. Save my number in your phone, put it first on the list, and call me directly if you get caught again." With that, he drove away with a smile.

"Thank you, really, thank you so much. Wait, caught again? Hey, you jinx..."

After thanking him, Rachel finally caught the implication in Hansen Ruiz’s last remark, and once again, she was hopping mad.

「Maldives, Malé.」

Glades Horne and Julia Bluen’s honeymoon’s first stop was the Maldives.

With its stunning and serene environment, fresh and quiet air, and numerous islands, it was the perfect setting for a romantic honeymoon for newlyweds.

Two good friends: Rachel, conducting "ghost business" in T City, ran into trouble on her first day, getting caught by the city management, and ended up owing Hansen Ruiz a favor. As for Julia, she was seated on the back of a bicycle, arms intimately wrapped around Glades Horne’s robust waist. After leaving their hotel, the two pedalled along the white coral sand streets towards Sultan Park in the city center.

Glades Horne, used to shiny cars, wasn’t so skilled with bicycles, especially wobbly while carrying Julia.

At the same hotel, another honeymooning couple from Dumbledore, Syrena, aimed to visit Sultan Park on their own bikes. The husband, skilled in cycling, steadily carried his petite wife. Even though Glades and Julia had left the hotel first, they were eventually overtaken by the other couple.

The wife in the backseat would occasionally shout encouragingly at Glades, mouthing, "Handsome, go for it."

Julia was starting to get anxious.

But my man’s cycling skills aren’t up to par. He would surely win if it were a car race, but as for cycling, he only bought a bike and started learning two days ago here in the Maldives. He’s barely mastered the basics, and his skills pale in comparison to others.

"Glades, they’re overtaking us," Julia said, clinging to Glades’s waist and glaring at the smug couple ahead.
