CHAPTER 106: CHAPTER 106: WARMING THE HEART (2)_1
"Don’t worry, I’m fine." Julia Bluen stepped forward and righted the brand-new bicycle. Passersby cast them glances that were a mixture of worry and amusement.
"We’re fine," Julia Bluen said, seeing through the passersby’s thoughts and smiling at them warmly. Her sweet, radiant smile nearly captivated the passing male tourists. However, after receiving Glades Horne’s icy, sharp glare, they quickly averted their eyes from Julia Bluen. This Eastern-looking man’s gaze is terrifying, enough to kill, they thought.
"Are you sure you didn’t hurt yourself?" Glades Horne insistently checked her all over for injuries. He didn’t see any, but he was still worried.
"Haven’t you checked? If you don’t believe my words, at least believe your own eyes," Julia Bluen said with a resigned laugh. Sometimes, when a man cares too much, it can also put a certain amount of pressure on you.
"I don’t even trust my own eyes. They can only see the surface, not what’s inside. What if you have an internal injury? No, I’m taking you to the hospital to get checked." It was such a minor incident, yet Glades Horne was extremely worried and filled with regret. If only he hadn’t been so eager for her closeness, he wouldn’t have crashed the bike, and she wouldn’t have fallen.
"Glades, there’s no need. I’m really fine. Let’s go, or it’ll be dark before we reach Coastal Avenue." Julia Bluen pushed the bicycle back to him, looking at him playfully as she said, "If you won’t ride, then I will, and you can sit on the back."
"Really, you’re fine?" Glades Horne naturally didn’t want her to give him a ride. He took the bicycle from Julia Bluen’s hands, still asking with concern.
"Why are you acting like an old woman?"
Julia Bluen felt a headache coming on.
"With you, I have to be like an old woman," he said. He would rather hurt himself than let her be hurt.
She was the cherished wife he had almost missed after so many twists and turns, the one he had finally managed to marry.
He had to watch over her like a doting mother, like an old woman, carefully protecting her, wanting her to fall deeply for him.
"Then I’ll just call you ’Old Lady’ from now on." After Glades Horne got back on the bicycle, Julia Bluen hopped onto the back seat, her arms naturally wrapping around his sturdy waist.
Glades Horne’s handsome face grew serious, his deep eyes reflecting longing and determination. "Call me ’Old Man,’ and you’ll be ’Old Lady.’ Together, we’ll greet the rising sun, watch the setting sun, and slowly grow old together."
Julia Bluen laughed but didn’t reply.
A little while later, the two arrived at the seaside of Coastal Avenue.
They parked their bicycle and then walked hand in hand on the soft sand, watching the azure sea and the seagulls in flight.
Many people were running and playing on the beach, full of energy. Others lay under sun umbrellas beneath the coconut trees, relaxing in the sea breeze with their eyes closed, rejuvenating themselves.
The young couple savored the scenery, lingering so long they almost forgot to leave, only returning to their hotel in the evening.
"Tired?" After his bath, half-lying on the soft, large bed, Glades Horne gently stroked Julia Bluen’s short hair.
Julia Bluen sat beside him, a laptop worth tens of thousands open in front of her as she browsed the internet. Hearing Glades Horne’s question, she casually replied, "Not tired at all. I had a lot of fun, really enjoyed myself to the fullest." There was no pressure here. He wasn’t the heir to the Horne family, and she wasn’t the wife of the Horne family heir; they were just ordinary tourists. No one was flattering or fawning over them; it was so wonderfully relaxed and comfortable.
"As long as you’re happy." Glades Horne sat up. He watched her surfing the net and asked, "Who are you in contact with?"
"My little brother," Julia Bluen said, turning her head to look at him teasingly. "He asked if we’re having fun, if we’ve met any beautiful foreign women, and he also reminded me to keep an eye on you."
"Leo’s not wrong. You definitely have to watch me closely." Glades Horne feigned foolishness, acting like an innocent child as he hugged Julia Bluen’s waist.
"Oh, please! Look at you, you’re just like that character from ’The Simpleton Husband’!" Julia Bluen couldn’t stop laughing. Now that they were on their honeymoon, with no familiar faces around, she realized Glades Horne had many sides unknown to others. Sometimes he was so overbearing it was unbearable; sometimes so tender, it felt as if water could be wrung from his gentleness; and at other times, he would pull all sorts of faces and antics to make her laugh.
If the upper-class society of T City saw this side of him, they would definitely think he was someone else. They would never believe this was the same CEO of Valence Group, known for his decisive actions and unpredictable moods.
