Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law
Chapter 149 Marriage Application Report (6)_1
CHAPTER 149: CHAPTER 149 MARRIAGE APPLICATION REPORT (6)_1
His big brother married Julia Bluen!
When Marcel Horne heard those words, he couldn’t process anything else. What flashed through his mind was Ruby Bluen’s distress and the tears welling in her eyes. Ruby had left. Ruby had left!
Marcel Horne immediately tossed his phone aside, sprang from the bed, and dashed out of the room like a gust of wind.
"Battalion Commander Horne, you’re still sick," Emma Wright and Tiffany Alvarez hurriedly chased after him.
Tiffany Alvarez had torn up the fake marriage application report she was holding and thrown it into the trash can. If Ruby Bluen could have remained calm and not been deceived by the charade, she would have noticed the loophole: the marriage application report was for Marcel Horne and Emma Wright, so how could it possibly have been in Tiffany Alvarez’s hands? The loophole was so obvious. Unfortunately, Ruby Bluen had already been enraged by the "intimate" contact between Marcel Horne and Emma Wright, losing her composure.
Marcel Horne had counted on this, which was why he had Tiffany Alvarez appear at the very end.
Marcel Horne rushed out of the room and sprinted downstairs, Emma Wright and Tiffany Alvarez’s words completely forgotten. He hadn’t even taken the time to put on more clothes, nor did he care that he was still sick. His only thought was to catch Ruby Bluen as soon as possible and explain that everything was a sham.
His big brother wasn’t angry with her anymore; his big brother had married Julia Bluen. That’s right, his big brother had always been good to Julia Bluen. Before he announced Ruby Bluen as his girlfriend, everyone had mistakenly thought his big brother was in love with Julia. Unexpectedly, now his big brother had truly married Julia. Since his big brother wasn’t angry with Ruby anymore and had married Julia Bluen, everything was settled. He and Ruby Bluen could finally be together openly.
At this moment, Marcel Horne truly wished he were a bird in the clouds, able to soar into the sky and immediately chase after Ruby Bluen, who had already left the Military Camp by car.
"Battalion Commander, why didn’t you put on more clothes before coming out? You’re still sick," his soldiers said with concern when they saw Marcel Horne run downstairs. Seeing the unprecedented panic and urgency on his face, they smiled knowingly to themselves. Their Battalion Commander was all talk—acting cold and constantly trying to show he disliked Ruby Bluen, even wanting to send her away. Yet, the moment Ruby left, he was right behind her.
"How long ago did Andrew Carter and Ruby leave?" Marcel Horne asked anxiously, oblivious to the chill. He was already calculating whether he could catch up with them.
As he asked, he ran to a car, opened the door, and dove inside. His movements were so swift that all the soldiers were astounded. The Battalion Commander was indeed the Battalion Commander; even his speed was double theirs!
"They only left a little over ten minutes ago!" a soldier replied, but his words were lost as Marcel Horne sped off.
"Marcel, your phone! And put on some more clothes!" Emma Wright and Tiffany Alvarez had chased after him. Emma held two of Marcel’s jackets, and Tiffany carried his phone. They had rushed out of the room before remembering he’d left with barely anything on, so they had darted back to grab his things.
The two women hurried towards the car Marcel had already started, managing to flag him down. Marcel slammed on the brakes, narrowly avoiding them.
"Here," they quickly thrust the items into the car. Emma, moved and anxious, urged, "Go after her, quickly! But be careful on the road. Make sure you explain everything clearly. Don’t give yourself any reason to regret this." With that, she stepped aside, clearing the way for Marcel.
In truth, her heart ached with bitterness; the man she loved was so deeply devoted to another woman.
Watching Marcel drive away from the Military Camp at breakneck speed, Emma’s eyes moistened. She hadn’t been wrong to like him; Marcel was worth her affection. If Marcel really won Ruby Bluen back, she would sincerely bless them and no longer compete with Ruby for him. Marcel was wonderful, but she was too. She believed that even if she gave up on Marcel, she could find someone even better. And if Marcel couldn’t win Ruby back, if he truly lost her, then she would spend her life warming his cold heart with her tenderness.
"Seeing him like this, I think, apart from offering my blessing, it’s impossible for me to win his affection," Tiffany Alvarez remarked. She was more straightforward than Emma; seeing Marcel’s frantic devotion to Ruby, she had already decided to withdraw from the competition, no longer considering herself Ruby’s rival, only offering her sincerest blessings. Ruby Bluen hasn’t had it easy, she thought. Born into such wealth, yet she dared to cast everything aside to pursue the love in her heart. If she and Marcel truly end up together, then I’ll believe that fate is just.
Emma Wright stared in the direction the car had disappeared, silent for a long time.
「Two cars sped along the road to the Military District.」
One car followed the other; they had left the Military Camp a little over ten minutes apart. Such a short interval shouldn’t be underestimated—often, it was enough to create an insurmountable distance.
"Sister-in-law, what in the world happened?" Andrew Carter asked worriedly while driving, glancing at Ruby Bluen in the passenger seat. "You were fine just a moment ago. Why are you crying like this? Did our Battalion Commander bully you? Why are you in such a rush to leave? Dr. Wright and Nurse Alvarez are eyeing our Battalion Commander like hungry wolves, you know. If you leave, won’t you be playing right into their hands? You love our Battalion Commander so much, don’t you? Are you really just going to leave like this?"
Ruby Bluen turned her face to the window, silently shedding tears. Hearing Andrew Carter’s questions, she simply shook her head, unable to utter a word.
Her heart was already shattered. Broken into pieces, scattered on the ground... She no longer had the strength to pick them up. And Marcel Horne certainly wouldn’t; if he were inclined to, he wouldn’t have let her heart break in the first place.
Looking at that marriage application report, seeing Marcel Horne’s strong, bold signature on the applicant line, she felt her world crumble. After being treated so coldly by him for so many years, she had thought she’d become invincible, that no matter how he treated her, she wouldn’t give up on him. Only now did she realize her mistake. She was human, an ordinary woman deeply in love with Marcel Horne, and she was not invincible. She couldn’t bear this news. She just couldn’t.
