CHAPTER 352: CHAPTER 352 NATIONAL TREASURES AREN’T EASY TO BE (1)_1

The large Bluen family house was usually occupied by Scarlett Taylor alone.

Unlike Mila Anderson, who was always out and about playing cards, Scarlett, although she did play cards occasionally, preferred to stay at home. She liked to read, tend to her flowers and plants, and wait for her husband and children to come home.

Sometimes, she would feel stifled and bored. Perhaps as a traditional woman, she also felt that a wife should stay at home, ready to care for her husband and children. So even if she felt bored, she managed it better than Mila Anderson could.

However, today, Scarlett was busier than usual. After nearly two months of marriage, her youngest daughter, Julia Bluen, had finally been confirmed pregnant by the Horne family’s doctor. Although they had not gone to the hospital for confirmation yet, they trusted Dr. Ray’s medical skills. She was about to become a grandmother, and she was thrilled. She could hardly wait for Julia’s belly to grow and for Julia to give her a lovely grandchild—a grandson or granddaughter, either would be wonderful.

She was not like Mila Anderson, who was fixated on having a grandson.

How could Mila know it was a grandson just because Julia was pregnant?

Scarlett disliked Mila constantly talking about having a grandson before it was confirmed whether Julia was expecting a boy or a girl. It would put pressure on Julia. If Julia knew Mila wanted a grandson, what if Julia had a granddaughter? Would Mila not love the child then?

If a pregnant woman feels this kind of pressure, it can lead to a bad mood, which is not good for the fetus’s development.

Scarlett had reminded Mila about this, but Mila was dismissive, claiming all she wanted was a grandson and that she was a straightforward person who did not hide her feelings. This attitude frustrated Scarlett to the point where she felt any conversation with Mila was fruitless; even half a sentence seemed excessive.

Brushing aside these unsettling thoughts, Scarlett didn’t want them to affect the joyful atmosphere.

The atmosphere in the Bluen family had been suffocating lately because of Ruby Bluen’s issues. But now Julia’s good news could wash away some of the negativity.

In the small dining room, Scarlett was still wearing a lace apron, and the table was full of dishes she had personally prepared for Julia. There were also several dishes that Glades Horne liked. Among the myriad of appetizing dishes, each radiating a mother’s care, the most eye-catching was the special stewing pot.

It was a pigeon and shiitake mushroom soup, prepared especially for Julia.

In the early stages of pregnancy, there’s usually no need for heavy nourishment, but as a mother, Scarlett couldn’t help but want to ensure her pregnant daughter was well-nourished.

If the pregnant woman has good nutrition, the fetus naturally gets more nutrients. Nutrients are absorbed fastest while the child is still in the womb. After birth, supplementary nutrition is never as effective as it is during the prenatal period.

After arranging everything, Scarlett removed the lace apron she was wearing.

She sat down at the table, listening intently for any noise outside. Whenever she heard a car, she would look out the window. Because she had been busy making food for her daughter, she had forgotten to share the good news with her husband and her other two children.

After waiting for a while, Glades Horne’s car appeared in the driveway of the Bluen family villa.

"Miss Julia, Young Master Horne," greeted the Housekeeper with a smile. It seemed that all the servants in the Bluen family must have known about Julia Bluen’s pregnancy by now.

Julia Bluen got out of the car, holding several boxes of health products. Glades Horne, as a dutiful son-in-law, had bought them for his mother-in-law, Scarlett Taylor. She smiled, intending to hand the health products to the Housekeeper to bring inside, but as soon as she reached out, Glades Horne’s large hand stretched out and intercepted them.

Julia was surprised, and the Housekeeper was momentarily stunned.

Glades, however, with pursed lips, grasped Julia’s hand and headed towards the Main House. Two Bodyguards also got out of the car and followed, but they voluntarily stopped when they reached the front door of the Main House.

"What’s wrong?" Julia asked, her curiosity piqued by Glades’s silent, pursed lips.

Would there be any problem with the Housekeeper bringing those health products inside? Although the Bluen’s Housekeeper did not have a tenure as long as Uncle Ying of the Horne Family, he was a competent person. Otherwise, he would not have been hired as the Housekeeper. He was responsible for managing over a dozen servants inside and outside the house, handling matters reliably and earning the trust of the Bluen Family. In fact, the Bluens didn’t treat the Housekeeper like an outsider but rather as a member of their own family.

"I bought them, so I should carry them; they’re for my mother-in-law," Glades said coolly, causing Julia to burst out laughing.

So, he was worried his mother-in-law wouldn’t know he was the one who bought the health products?

So even a man as cool as him had his petulant moments!

Upon hearing the car, Scarlett Taylor had already come out from the dining room to greet them.

Her face was all smiles, as if she had just found a cartload of gold.

"Glades, Julia, you’re here! Come on in, wash your hands. We can eat now. In this weather, the food gets cold easily. Today’s meal was personally prepared by Mom. You two need to show your appreciation and eat every single bite," Scarlett said with a laugh, as she went forward and took Julia by the hand from Glades, the mother and daughter looking as close as two sisters.

Scarlett took good care of herself and looked younger than her actual age. When she and Julia went shopping, people sometimes mistook them for sisters.

"Julia, especially you, you need to eat more. You’re not the same as before; you’re eating for two now. Even if you don’t feel like eating, the baby inside needs to eat, you know? Don’t be picky. Try a bit of everything; that way, your nutrition will be balanced."

Several boxes of health products were presented to Scarlett. Glades said warmly, "Mom, I purchased these health products for you."

Scarlett smiled and reached out to take them, asking with a smile, "Glades, did you buy these?" Although her son-in-law was generous and always brought gifts, he had not yet given her health products.

"Mom, rest assured, these are definitely from your son-in-law to show his filial respect," Julia teased playfully and, after speaking, she dashed off to wash her hands.

Seeing her playful movements, both Glades and Scarlett immediately became anxious. Glades quickly followed behind her, his brows filled with worry. That girl, she’s pregnant! How can she still be walking so hastily? And she’s wearing high heels! What if she’s not careful...

Seeing her son-in-law acting even more anxious than she was, Scarlett’s smile grew wider, and her eyes filled with relief.

She knew that Glades would make a good husband. Having such a son-in-law was her fortune, thankfully, thankfully...
