Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law
Chapter 379: Oblivious to Death (5)_1
Julia Bluen was utterly flabbergasted. What a piece of work! This Lily Garcia was the epitome of shamelessness! Wanting to break up someone's family and feeling so utterly justified!
Just as Julia was about to retort, she suddenly saw Wade Coleman and another bodyguard approaching with darkened faces. The two men came up to her and Lily Garcia, said nothing, and, taking two steps forward, one on each side, they seized Lily by the arms and began dragging her away.
"Hey, what are you doing? Let go of me!" Lily Garcia struggled desperately, her beautiful face losing all color, as she didn't know who these two men were.
Her wine glass had fallen to the ground when Wade Coleman and the other bodyguard seized her, spilling red wine that looked a bit like fresh blood under the streetlight's glow. Julia Bluen remained seated, showing no intention of pleading for her.
The actions of the two bodyguards caught the attention of everyone at the wine party, each staring in astonishment at the scene. Regardless of the onlookers, they dragged Lily Garcia to the front door of the villa and tossed her out like a stone. Lily landed sprawled on the ground, crying out loudly in pain from the fall.
"Reckless woman! Daring to compete with the Young Mistress for the Young Master!" Wade Coleman said, turning his head and speaking coldly to Uncle Ying, who had followed them. "The Young Master has said that this woman is forbidden from ever taking even half a step into the Horne Family's property again!"
The other guests were even more flabbergasted upon hearing Wade Coleman's icy words. The more astute ones, seeing Lily Garcia stop Julia Bluen, guessed the cause of the incident and felt a touch of alarm. The Prince was truly loyal and adoring to his wife. When a mistress appeared, the wife didn't need to act; he himself would get rid of the mistress first. With the Prince so loyal to his wife, yet so unpredictable, and adoring her to the heavens, who would dare cast more than a fleeting glance his way? If anyone were to lose their heart to him, they would likely suffer the same fate as that young lady from the Evans Family.
No one knew about the incident where Orlando Evans drugged Adele Horne, but they were clear that the Evans Family's downfall was orchestrated by Glades Horne. As for the Cosmos Group, it was said to have once hurt the young Mrs. Horne. Now, it was being tormented by the Valence Group to the point of its pleas to heaven and earth going unanswered. The more they thought about it, the tighter everyone's scalp felt, especially the women.
Lily Garcia's complexion drastically changed after hearing Wade Coleman's words.
"Sister, what happened? Did something happen?" Jasmine Garcia, in the crowd, saw it was her sister who had been thrown out. She quickly squeezed through the people, ran out of the villa, and anxiously helped Lily Garcia up. Lily, previously alluring and sexy, had her image completely ruined now, her face a mask of embarrassment and furious shame.
With her sister's support, she stood up. Her fair hand, scraped from being forcefully thrown against the ground, was oozing small beads of blood, causing her to wince and grit her teeth in pain. In her heart, she was furious with Glades Horne. She had nodded to him from a distance just moments before, and Glades had even glanced at her. She thought Glades had remembered her, but she hadn't expected this…
No, Glades Horne certainly recognized her. Her looks hadn't changed much, and she had entered with Jasmine Garcia. How could Glades not recognize her? He must be treating her this way because she had approached Julia Bluen for a talk, right?
At this thought, Lily's complexion changed drastically again. How did Glades find out? Even if he saw her talking with Julia Bluen, he couldn't possibly have heard the content, could he? Yet the words of the two men who threw her out implied that Glades Horne knew about her conversation with Julia Bluen. How could he be so terrifying? He wasn't even present, yet he could overhear others' conversations. Could it be that he had planted a listening device on Julia Bluen? Considering how much he doted on Julia Bluen, would he really treat his beloved wife that way?
"Jasmine, let's… go home." Lily Garcia didn't throw a tantrum. Thinking of Glades Horne's capabilities, she just wanted to slip away. She'd rather not provoke that devilish man.
"Alright. I'll go in and say hello to Aunt Mila," Jasmine Garcia agreed obediently. She had Lily Garcia wait while she hurried inside to greet Mila Anderson, then came out to help Lily back to the neighboring Garcia home.
This scene was witnessed by Julia Bluen.
Looking up, she turned her gaze to the rooftop. Glades Horne was not in the room, nor was he in the courtyard. There was only one possibility left: the rooftop. So, Julia Bluen walked towards the house.
When everyone retracted their gaze from the spectacle, Julia Bluen had already disappeared from their sight.
「On the rooftop.」
Glades Horne was leaning forward with his hands on the railing, looking down at everything in the courtyard from his high vantage point.
As Julia Bluen looked up, the tension on his handsome face eased, and his pursed lips slightly curved into a smile. Soon after, he heard footsteps behind him. He turned, leaning his back against the railing, his deep, intense eyes watching Julia Bluen approach. As the distance closed, he opened his arms, waiting for Julia Bluen to leap into them.
Julia Bluen did not disappoint him, rushing into his embrace with a light smile and tilting her face up from his chest to ask, "How did you know?"
Holding her delicate body, Glades Horne said softly, "I saw it."
"Saw it?" Julia Bluen blinked her almond-shaped eyes, somewhat incredulous. But seeing the intense sharpness in his lowered gaze, she chose to believe him, though she couldn't help but marvel inwardly at his excellent eyesight.
There were streetlights in the courtyard. However, given the height of the rooftop from the ground and the somewhat dim light, his ability to see so clearly was a testament to the sharpness of his vision.
"From your expression, I guessed that woman said something unpleasant," Glades Horne's voice was very low and deep, with a hint of savage undercurrent. "You don't know her, so if she spoke rudely, it must relate to me. I am yours, and you are mine. There shall not be a second man by your side, nor will there ever be a second woman by mine. Any woman who is reckless enough to openly negotiate with my wife deserves to be thrown far away. With everything that has happened today, even my considerable self-control has its limits."
"It was quite embarrassing for her," Julia Bluen said, wrapping her arms around his waist and chuckling lightly. Though her words seemed to express sympathy for Lily Garcia's plight, her expression was one of utter satisfaction.
