Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law
Chapter 496 496 Auntie's Sister-in-law Can't Be Provoked (2)_1
Julia actually liked it when he wore a white suit. She felt he seemed more approachable in white, unlike the intimidating presence he exuded in black suits that made him appear unpredictable. But he loved wearing black suits, and Julia eventually chose to give him the color he preferred as a gift.
Having picked out a suit, she turned her attention to choosing ties.
Glades Horne followed Julia Bluen around, his lips pressed tightly together, silent, like a bodyguard.
His deep eyes were glued to her the entire time.
Julia would hold up a shirt against him to gauge the fit or drape a tie over him to see if the color suited him. She was meticulous in her selections, and he noticed that she checked every stitch when inspecting the quality of the garments.
She was doing it all for him!
This realization sweetened his heart as if doused with honey.
It took about an hour for Julia to finally settle on the suits and ties. There were two suits and two ties; she said he could alternate between them. Little did she expect that, in the days to come, Glades would wear only these two suits she had given him, alternating between them until one day...
After paying the bill and leaving the clothing store, she laughed and stuffed the bag containing the clothes into Glades's arms, smiling, "Glades, this is my Valentine's Day gift for you." It wasn't a surprise, but it was her truest, purest, and deepest sentiment.
Glades held the bag tightly and with one hand drew her into his embrace, saying deeply, "Thank you, this is my favorite Valentine's Day gift." He had received many gifts on Valentine's Days past. Women infatuated with him would send plenty, but of course, he would never accept them, disposing of them as soon as they were received. Ruby Bluen had also given gifts, but never clothes or ties, only small trinkets. He couldn't understand why Ruby had only sent him small gifts before. Now, he realized Ruby had never truly loved him.
And it seemed he had never given flowers to Ruby on Valentine's Day; at most, they would share a meal together.
He felt miserly, only now realizing his heart was far more honest than his actions ever were.
Julia pinched him around the waist and whispered something softly into his ear, which made his eyes light up with a look that said he couldn't wait to devour her right there and then, causing Julia to blush without reason.
Glades called over a bodyguard and whispered something into his ear, after which the bodyguard nodded and walked away.
Julia didn't inquire about the instructions he had given.
Next, Glades naturally took her for a walk to relax. Julia had promised him that after the New Year, she would stay home to focus on her pregnancy and only occasionally visit the company. This made him somewhat relieved that she would be safe at home. However, a new worry emerged—he feared she would get bored.
Loving someone meant constantly worrying about them, with old concerns fading and new ones arising.
In the evening, Glades took Julia to the Emperor Hotel. The couple decided not to return home for dinner and instead, on this romantic day, enjoyed a romantic candlelit dinner together.
After the candlelit dinner, Glades, as if by magic, presented a box of chocolates—naturally, the box was heart-shaped. He gifted it to her as a second Valentine's Day present, hoping to sweeten her heart as rich and intoxicating as the chocolates.
Some people live joyously, steeped in honey every day, while others aren't so fortunate.
「The Horne Family.」
After her bath, Adele Horne, clad in a loungewear set and wearing slippers, stepped out of her room and headed towards her mother's.
During her bath, Sister Hong had come to tell her that her mother had asked to see her afterwards.
Mila Anderson's room was on the third floor.
When Adele descended to the third floor, she was surprised to find her father, Gian Horne, standing in front of her mother's room with a large bouquet of roses, a big box of chocolates, and a light blue scarf.
Gian Horne had only learned that today was Valentine's Day when Phoebe Rogers called him in the evening, urging him to spend it with her. Realizing it was the perfect day to please his wife, he hurried out to buy a large bouquet of roses, a box of chocolates—in the shape of a heart—and a scarf. Mila Anderson liked light blue and habitually wore a scarf in winter to protect her neck from the cold wind.
In his youth, he had often done such things, but alas, it was always Phoebe who received his flowers and chocolates. This was his first time giving them to his wife, and he felt somewhat shy, standing outside the door for several minutes without the courage to knock.
"Dad, what are you doing here?" Adele's voice came from behind him, making Gian's face flush with embarrassment. Turning around with a sheepish look, he said, "Adele, good timing. These are Dad's Valentine's Day gifts for Mom. Can you take them in for me? Make sure to tell her they're from Dad."
After handing over the gifts, Gian quickly made his exit.
Mila's recent attitude towards him made him apprehensive about being rebuffed.
"Dad... what's the point of giving them now, isn't it too late?" Adele muttered to herself but still took the gifts for her father and knocked on her mother's door.
If only her father could sever ties with Phoebe Rogers and treat her mother sincerely, Adele still harbored that hope. After all, no one wanted to see their parents in perpetual discord.
"Mom, these are the Valentine's Day gifts from Dad for you." Adele came in holding the flowers, proceeded to place them into a large vase by herself, then laid the box of chocolates and the scarf next to Mila, who was sitting on the couch, idly doing her nails.
Mila glanced indifferently at the gifts, her face showing little emotion, but her mind was tumultuous.
At her age, he finally gave her flowers—was it a gesture of appeasement or regret?
Remembering his favoritism and betrayal, and considering the years she had lived through, Mila steeled her heart against being swayed by his occasional gestures.
She was determined to get a divorce!
