CHAPTER 96: CHAPTER 96 LOVE, HEAVY AS A MOUNTAIN (4)_1

"Do you think you really fit in with the life here?" Ruby Bluen’s heart clenched as she listened to him. He was always like this, taking every opportunity to push her away.

"You were born the distinguished second young master of the Horne Family, always clothed in finery and abundantly fed. Did you think that when you first came here, you’d have no issues at all? That you’d instantly adapt to this climate where the sky stretches for miles? That you’d never gotten sick, never run a fever, never been hospitalized before?" Ruby’s innate stubbornness and resilience showed through again.

"At least I have adapted now," Marcel Horne replied coldly.

He didn’t dwell on the fact that when he first arrived in Tibet, he, like her, had struggled with the climate changes, fallen ill, and been hospitalized.

"Do you compare your five years to my ten days?" Ruby retorted.

Marcel Horne’s face tightened. "No matter what, you have to go back and face my big brother."

"Fine. You go back with me!" Ruby Bluen stared at him resolutely. "When I return, I will definitely tell Glades that the person I truly love is his brother—you. Whether you accept me now or not, Glades will have his opinions about you. If we have to face it, let’s go back and face it together, be honest with both our families."

"I’m a soldier, a soldier stationed at the border fortress!" Marcel Horne emphasized.

"Does a soldier not need to get married?"

"Who’s going to marry you? If it weren’t for the fact that you are my brother’s fiancée..." Marcel Horne paused when he caught the look of pain on Ruby Bluen’s face.

She quietly pulled the covers up over herself, closed her eyes, and said wearily, "I’m fine now. You should go back and rest."

His kindness towards her was because she was Glades Horne’s fiancée. That realization hurt her deeply.

A flicker of remorse passed through his eyes, and without another word, Marcel Horne turned and left the ward.

Hearing the footsteps fading away, Ruby Bluen quickly opened her eyes to find no one in front of her. Angrily, she exclaimed, "Damn ice mountain, big ice mountain! You just leave when I tell you to? Heartless!"

"Where did that kid Andrew Carter go? It’s been so long, and he still hasn’t come back." Ruby Bluen felt hungry. She sat up in bed, gazing toward the door and muttering to herself. Almost inadvertently, her eyes landed on the fruit basket. She immediately grabbed an apple, slid off the bed, and walked to the Restroom in the room. After washing the apple, she returned to bed, covered herself with the blanket, and sat there munching on it.

"I won’t go back. I just won’t go back! If you dare, try carrying me back." While eating the apple, she kept fuming over Marcel Horne’s words.

After she finished an apple, to her surprise, Marcel Horne returned.

In his hands, he carried three boxed meals. Andrew Carter followed behind him into the room.

Ruby Bluen was startled, then suddenly smiled happily. So, the big ice mountain hadn’t left; he had gone out to get her lunch!

"Sister-in-law, why are you smiling? Are you happy to see the commander?" Andrew Carter grinned mischievously, winking at her.

A boxed meal was suddenly thrust into his hands, then a pair of disposable chopsticks were pushed into his other hand, followed by Marcel Horne’s cold command, "Go eat outside. Don’t disturb the patient’s rest."

Flabbergasted, and after receiving Marcel Horne’s cold glare, Andrew Carter quickly scampered out with his meal.

Marcel Horne handed Ruby Bluen a boxed meal and said indifferently, "Eat it while it’s hot." He then passed the chopsticks to her.

Ruby Bluen took the lunch box and opened it to find all the dishes were very light.

"You have a cold; the doctor said you should eat something light," Marcel continued indifferently.

Ruby didn’t say anything, but her heart felt sweet. This man sometimes had a really tough exterior but was incredibly soft-hearted on the inside.

Seeing Ruby starting to eat, Marcel then sat beside her and began eating his own portion.

Ruby often stole glances at him and noticed that although he ate quickly, he did so elegantly.

A few minutes later, his box was completely empty, not even a drop of sauce left behind.

When he looked up and noticed her watching, he furrowed his brow and asked, "Don’t you like it?"

"No," Ruby averted her gaze and began to eat slowly.

She didn’t know that while she was eating, Marcel was also watching her.

On the third day after their wedding, the newlyweds would visit the bride’s parental home to meet with her parents and get acquainted with her friends and relatives, a custom known as ’returning to the door.’

The celebration for Julia Bluen’s ’return to the door’ was held very grandly.

All of the Bluen Family’s friends and relatives came. Upon entering the Bluen Family’s villa, one could see people bustling about everywhere.

Chris Bluen and Scarlett Taylor got up early, instructing the servants to busy themselves with various tasks. Even the young master of the Bluen Family, Leo Bluen, had woken up early.

Since fireworks couldn’t be set off in the city, they prepared ceremonial cannons instead, planning to celebrate the arrival of the newlyweds with a festive volley.

The ’return to the door’ feast could have been held in a hotel, but in the end, the Bluen Family decided to host it at their own home. They had several chefs and plenty of servants, so preparing for the feast was not difficult at all. Besides, hosting it at home felt the most natural and appropriate.

Shortly after nine in the morning, Glades Horne drove Julia Bluen to the Bluen Family villa in the Ferrari that he had given her as a betrothal gift.

However, this time they did not drive straight in but stopped the car in front of the villa. He disembarked with Julia, while the Housekeeper and two Bodyguards arrived in another vehicle, which was carrying many gifts from the Horne Family.

Upon seeing Glades Horne escorting Julia Bluen out of the car, the ceremonial cannons prepared by the Bluen Family were immediately set off. Chris Bluen and his wife greeted them from inside. After the young couple called out, "Dad, Mom," they, along with other relatives, welcomed them into the house.

Today, Glades had returned to his usual black suit. A faint smile adorned his handsome face, his eyes slightly curved, greatly tempering his naturally proud demeanor.

Julia wore a tight purple autumn dress that accentuated her shapely figure, her oval face beaming with happiness.

Once inside the house, Glades greeted each of the Bluen Family’s relatives and friends. Even though they had met before, the feeling today was particularly different.
