Chapter 268: Chapter 268: Falling Off a Horse While Filming Chapter 268: Chapter 268: Falling Off a Horse While Filming After eating, she noticed it was about time for the children to go to school.

Ye Sihan hadn’t shown up yet.

Was he held up by something important?

That would be for the best!

Tang Yu cheerfully took the quadruplets out.

Each of the quadruplets carried a small backpack, running ahead joyfully.

Tang Yu smiled warmly, thinking of the little penguins at the Ye Mansion; they really were becoming more and more like penguins.

Once downstairs, she saw a black Maybach parked there, exuding opulence.

The waiting driver pulled the car door open.

The four little ones ran toward it.

Halfway there, they noticed Mommy standing still.

Junjun stepped forward, taking Mommy’s hand, “Mommy, take us!”

Tang Yu wanted to, as her initial plan was to personally take the children to school.

But she had forgotten that the little ones were supposed to be escorted by a special car.

The four little ones were Ye Sihan’s heirs; they had the best of everything they used.

Yet now that Ye Sihan was raising them, the car also belonged to him; could she make that decision on her own?

Tang Yu walked to the door and asked the driver, “Can I take them together?”

“Of course,” the driver said.

Tang Yu’s heart pounded, that’s what you think, right?

Shouldn’t she remind him that it needed Ye Sihan’s approval?

After thinking, she closed her mouth again.

And got into the car with the children.

After all… she had asked the driver before getting in, so it couldn’t be blamed on her.

In the car, Tang Yu’s attention was constantly on the children.

Because she didn’t know when she would see them next.

It was only because the children had run over on their own that she could see them this time.

Should she teach them to do that again?

No, she couldn’t, as any accident would leave her engulfed with guilt.

She had to stop them from running around so recklessly, “Junjun, you mustn’t run over on your own again next time. Understand? If you miss Mommy, ask the driver to bring you here.”

“The driver won’t agree,” Zhengzheng said.

Tang Yu felt a bitter pain inside, it wasn’t that the driver disagreed, but that Ye Sihan wouldn’t allow it, “Even if they don’t agree, you can’t come by yourselves, there could be strangers outside. Mommy would worry.”

“Then… can Mommy come to pick us up?” Haohao asked.

That question made Tang Yu even more uncomfortable.

It wasn’t that she was too busy with work to pick them up, but that she was pressured by Ye Sihan and couldn’t do so!

“How about when Mommy finishes her work, okay?” Tang Yu told this lie to the children, feeling extremely miserable inside.

What did they understand? They just wanted to see their mother…

“Mommy, we’ll try to grow up fast so you don’t have to work anymore!”

“Hate being three years old!”

“Don’t want to go to school!”

“Mommy…”

Tang Yu felt her eyes heating up, hugging their soft little bodies, kissing their little cheeks, “Be good, Mommy lives right here and won’t go anywhere.”

That was all she could guarantee now.

Standing at the school gate, she watched as the teachers took the children inside.

Watching the four little ones waving at her with their small, yet strong demeanor.

Tang Yu’s tears fell uncontrollably.

She truly hated… hated Ye Sihan so much…

Across the street, a black Rolls-Royce was parked.

Even without a clear view inside, she knew whose car it was and who was seated within.

Unfortunately, Tang Yu’s focus was on her children; she didn’t notice.

After standing at the school gate for a long time, she walked to the roadside dejectedly, ready to hail a cab.

Seated in the backseat, Ye Sihan watched the scene through the car window, his deep, sharp black eyes piercing through the glass and landing on Tang Yu with a cold and inscrutable gaze.

He watched as Tang Yu hailed a car and left.

Ye Sihan’s expression was indifferent—this was all her own fault!

He could not be influenced by any woman!

Especially not by Tang Yu!

Tang Yu took a taxi directly to the set and as soon as she arrived, the assistant director pulled her aside, “Need your help with something.”

“What?”

“Lin Qiaoqiao needs a stunt double, and she specifically requested you,” said the assistant director. “It’s nothing difficult, you’ll just need to ride a horse for a long shot of the background.”

Tang Yu knew who Lin Qiaoqiao was; she was the one who had snatched the supporting actress role from her.

Just as she was about to say something, Lin Qiaoqiao came over, her tone impatient, “Can we start filming?” Approaching Tang Yu, she wore a look of disdain, “Any issues? Being a stunt double pays, I’m giving you an opportunity. After all, many big stars started out as low-level stunt doubles.”

The assistant director asked, “How about it? No problems, right?”

Tang Yu knew that an outright refusal could mean trouble for her future filming prospects.

“I don’t know how to ride a horse,” she said.

There had been many accidents involving horse riding in historical dramas.

“It’s fine, the horse trainer is here, and the horse will be very tame,” the assistant director assured.

With no way to decline, Tang Yu reluctantly agreed.

She put on the supporting actress’s costume and the cloak and stood next to the horse, listening to the horse trainer’s instructions.

After the horse trainer finished, he glanced back at Lin Qiaoqiao, who was standing there with a venomous expression on her face.

Lin Qiaoqiao had already ‘tipped off’ the horse trainer beforehand.

She needed to teach Tang Yu a lesson. After all, other female actors had been gossiping behind her back—saying she wasn’t as pretty as Tang Yu or that her figure wasn’t as good, and she seemed more like a maid.

Ridiculous!

With the horse trainer’s help, Tang Yu mounted the horse, hands gripping the reins tightly.

The horse trainer led the horse to the position required for the shot and then stepped out of the frame.

Tang Yu, her hands stiff and sweaty, felt extremely nervous, despite having been taught how to control the horse.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself.

She just needed to remember the steps.

“One hand on the reins,” the director shouted through the megaphone.

Tang Yu let go with one hand, letting it hang by her side, while the other continued to grip tightly, her palm sweating.

“Walk forward!” the director shouted again.

Tang Yu nudged the horse’s belly with her leg and it started moving forward.

“Break into a trot,” the director commanded.

The horse trainer blew a whistle and the horse began to trot.

Tang Yu was jolted about, her heart racing up to her throat.

Then the horse trainer whistled again, and the horse picked up speed.

“Ah!” Tang Yu, nearly unseated by the bouncing, cried out, “Stop!”

But why would the horse listen to her? Even yanking the reins did nothing as the horse ran wildly around the set, bumping into tables and chairs.

Had it not been for people moving swiftly out of the way, they might have been knocked down too.

“Control your horse, horse trainer!” the director bellowed, furious. “Quickly!”

“Ah!” Terrified, Tang Yu shut her eyes tightly and pulled on the reins desperately.

Upset by the tight grip, the horse suddenly rose on its front legs—

“Ah—” Tang Yu was thrown off the horse’s back, landing harshly on the ground.

The horse trainer immediately grabbed the reins and finally got control.

Turning to see Tang Yu on the ground, she had already lost consciousness and blood was trickling from her forehead.

The director was livid; he didn’t want a death on his hands, barking, “Finish this shot before sending her to the hospital. Props, where are the props people?”

“Director, the character is supposed to be injured anyway, why not film the injury scene first?” suggested the assistant.

Looking at Tang Yu, who was bleeding from the forehead and unconscious, the director said, “Then shoot it!”

The crew positioned Tang Yu, took a long shot.

For the close-up, they didn’t shoot her face, just the bleeding forehead and a corner of her eye; the audience wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

After shooting three takes, someone finally took Tang Yu to the hospital.

At the hospital, the staff only paid the registration fee before leaving Tang Yu in the emergency room.

How could a hospital perform a check-up for just a registration fee?

But the doctors couldn’t just throw her out!
