CHAPTER 151: I DON’T HIT WOMEN

This accident sent shockwaves through the entire business world.

Sophia’s whereabouts were unknown, and people were already assuming she was dead.

In the days that followed, countless visitors came to see Lucas. Each one wore a sorrowful expression, offering condolences as if urging him not to drown in grief and to stay strong for the future.

At first, the children were kept in the dark.

But gossip spread like wildfire, and soon they all found out.

The entire home fell into chaos.

Faye sobbed uncontrollably, her small chest heaving with every cry.

"I want Mommy! I want Mommy back! Why did something happen to her?! Daddy, you didn’t protect her!"

Charles’ eyes were red, and the other children, though silent, were clearly holding back tears.

Aside from Faye, each of them sat on the sofa, overly calm—like little adults forced to grow up overnight.

Lucas closed his eyes for a moment, then sat beside Faye and pulled her into his arms.

"You’re right. It’s my fault," he whispered hoarsely. "It’s my fault. I didn’t protect your mommy."

Days had passed, yet Lucas still hadn’t found a single true lead.

The remains of the car had already been examined.

There were no human remains inside—no trace of Sophia.

It was highly possible that she was still alive.

But then why... why hadn’t she come back?

Were they simply unable to find her?

Or had she gone somewhere else?

And if something truly had happened to her... how was he supposed to go on living?

Suddenly—the doorbell rang.

Andrew stood outside with his wife and daughter, all wearing devastated expressions.

"Lucas," Andrew’s voice cracked, "is Sophia really gone? Did you really send people to look for her?

What’s happening now? Please, tell me the truth.

If she’s truly gone, what am I supposed to do? How am I going to face her mother in heaven?!"

He looked utterly broken, his face lined with misery.

Lucas’ hands curled into tight fists as he stared him down, voice icy:

"Are you here to laugh at us, or are you actually worried about her?

Let me make this very clear—if you’re pretending, you’d better leave.

Don’t make me throw you out."

After all, Andrew and his family had always been among the top suspects.

Andrew shook his head quickly. "Lucas, I came because I’m worried. I’ve already sent people searching everywhere, but there’s no trace of her. I was thinking... Sophia always cared about you most. If she had a chance—maybe she left you a clue, something that could lead us to her. That’s why—"

"Enough, Dad," Olivia interrupted sharply. "Can’t you see? He has no intention of accepting your goodwill. To him, you’re not her father. And let’s be honest—he has never treated you with respect. He and Sophia have been trying to ruin the Morgan family from the start. But look how things turned out! Heaven has eyes. The disaster fell right back on her. Consider it her punishment."

Olivia didn’t smile, but the satisfaction in her tone was unmistakable.

Sophia, in her mind, was finally gone.

And with Sophia gone, their family was safe.

Everything Sophia obtained, she deserved to lose—Olivia believed every bit of that.

Lucas slowly raised his eyes, gaze like a blade.

"Are you finished talking?" he asked coldly, eyes locked on Olivia.

Suddenly—

"Ahhhh!"

A filthy mop landed right on Olivia’s white dress!

Angela stood there with a cold expression, and without hesitation, she flung the mop straight at Olivia.

"My dress! Angela!" Olivia shrieked and rushed forward, furious.

Lucas stepped in front of Angela immediately, raising his hand high, looking as if he was about to slap Olivia across the face.

The moment Lucas lifted his hand, Olivia instantly started screaming:

"He’s hitting me! He’s hitting me! Are you really going to hit me in front of everyone? Do you want tomorrow’s trending headline to be about you? Let me tell you—Sophia is gone, and it’s all her own fault! Don’t think you’re something special just because you loved her. Now that she’s dead, I guess you’ll be a widower before you even hit middle age! You should start planning your lonely life now!"

Lucas’ voice dropped to a chilling calm: "I never hit women."

Olivia let out a mocking laugh. "Oh, right, you don’t hit women. And besides, you wouldn’t dare."

"I don’t hit women," Lucas replied coldly, "but you’re not even worthy of being called a woman."

Smack!

No one saw it coming. In the blink of an eye, Lucas’ hand swung across Olivia’s face with a vicious slap!

Before anyone could react, Lucas followed with a ruthless kick—so strong it sent her flying, tumbling across the floor!

Olivia was stunned.

The two people beside her were even more stunned.

Lucas’ gaze turned razor-sharp, his voice cutting like ice:

"Let me make this clear. I don’t know what you three are planning... But you better pray this has nothing to do with Sophia. Because if it does, I will make sure every single one of you dies without a grave to be buried in."

He clapped his hands once—security guards immediately appeared and dragged the three of them out.

"From this moment on, none of them are ever allowed inside this house again."

"Yes, sir!"

Lucas lifted Angela into his arms and headed inside.

Facing the six children, for the first time in his life, he felt powerless.

"Listen to me. I will find whoever did this. Your mommy will be fine. I have magic—I will bring her back to you safe and sound. I promise."

Faye’s little nose was running as tears streamed down her face.

"Daddy, you... you can’t lie to me. If you lie, I’ll be really sad... Mommy is already gone. I won’t let you lie to me too..."

Lucas’ hands clenched. He turned and stormed outside.

In just a few days, he had deployed all his forces, yet not a single piece of solid information came back.

He stood at the edge of the cliff where Sophia’s car had fallen. Police tape surrounded the area.

Lucas had ordered the entire road closed.

No one was allowed to pass.

Before long, a vehicle approached.

A man in his thirties, wearing a tactical vest and sporting a buzz cut, rushed over.

"Lucas," Kai said, catching his breath, "I’ve gone through all the evidence. There’s still no trace of them. Right now, the chances of survival are only around twenty percent. Considering the height of the fall and the explosion shortly after, it’s very possible that they—"

"Shut up!"

Lucas’ roar shook the air.

"She’s alive. She has to be alive. You’re all lying to me. Keep searching. I don’t care what it takes. If she’s alive, I want to see her alive. If she’s dead, then I want her body. Alive or dead—bring her back to me!"

Lucas’ expression was terrifying.

Kai frowned. He had worked for Lucas for many years, but he had never once seen him like this—desperate, unhinged, ready to destroy the world.

If even he couldn’t find anything...

Did Sophia really still have a chance to survive?
