CHAPTER 166: NEED HELP

Trump Family.

"Grandpa, what should we do now? Andrew already agreed to my marriage with Olivia."

In the living room, everyone sat upright, tension thick in the air.

Thomas looked stern, leaning on his cane.

"It’s good that you finally listened to me. I told you—as long as you follow my lead, I’ll never let you suffer. Andrew’s an old fox. Don’t be fooled by how careless he acts. The man’s sharp. Otherwise, the Morgan Family wouldn’t have survived this many years."

"Grandpa, I get what you mean, but... but I keep thinking about one thing. Even if we get the entire Morgan Family, we may not be able to get past Sophia."

Ethan’s voice carried doubt—and the lingering trauma she’d carved into him.

Sophia really did leave people shaken.

"You can’t rush things. Haste makes waste. Think about it carefully—what does she want Morgan Group for? Revenge, nothing more. Besides, once you marry Olivia, she has to come out of hiding. So just listen to me. Marry her first, and when it comes to Sophia... play it by ear."

Brandon, sitting nearby, spoke in a low voice. "Dad, what if this is a trap? The people in the Morgan Family may be locked up, but Morgan Group... I don’t think it’ll last long."

"What do you know? Even if Morgan Group’s fate looks bad right now, once it’s in our hands, we’ll turn the whole situation around."

Brandon frowned. "Dad... I’m afraid things aren’t as simple as we think."

"Enough. You’re always scared of wolves in front and tigers behind. Back then, when I told you to follow my orders, you did—and that’s why Trump Family has everything it has today. What, you think I’d ever screw over my own family? You boys really think I’m some clueless old fool?"

Brandon wanted to speak again, but by his side, Lisa didn’t even dare breathe loudly.

Ever since she married into this family, she realized the only thing the old man ever praised her for... was giving the Trump Family an heir.

To him, she was nothing more than a tool. And now that they didn’t need her for anything, all she could do was stand quietly on the sidelines.

"Brandon, father’s being reckless. I’m afraid something will go wrong."

Her voice was soft—just a whispered reminder to her husband.

But the old man might’ve been old, yet his ears were anything but dull.

"If you’ve got something to say, spit it out. Don’t mumble around acting sneaky—it’s annoying."

Lisa’s heart jolted. "Dad... I also think Brandon might be right. The Morgan Group situation isn’t simple. We should be cautious."

Thomas shot her a cold glance, not taking her words seriously at all.

"What do you know? Everything Trump Family has was built by me. You think I don’t understand how these things work? Sophia’s nothing more than a little girl who hasn’t even grown all her feathers yet. And you’re all acting terrified of her? If word got out, people would laugh until their teeth fell out."

Thomas’s macho arrogance had never lessened with age.

Seeing how stubborn he was, Lisa shut her mouth instantly—if she kept talking, he’d just accuse her of sowing discord.

Ethan chuckled softly. "Grandpa, then let’s talk about this. If we get everything from the Morgan Family, what should we do about Olivia?"

"If you like her, keep her. If you don’t, kick her out."

One sentence—and Lisa’s heart tightened again.

She realized more and more that Thomas had always hinted—openly or otherwise—that she wasn’t worthy of the Trump Family.

Ethan nodded. "Don’t worry, Grandpa. I’ll make arrangements soon and get Olivia out."

"Good. I can trust the way you handle things."

Ethan was just about to leave when Lisa suddenly called after him.

"Ethan."

"Mom, what’s wrong?"

"I..."

"Mom, I know what you mean. Don’t take it to heart. Grandpa has always been like that. He doesn’t know how to soften his tone, but I know, Mom—you’ve been wronged."

Ethan stepped forward to hug her, but she pushed him away.

"That’s not what I meant at all. Your grandfather’s personality, of course I understand it. What I don’t want is to watch you walk down a path that’s already the wrong one. Do you understand?"

"Mom?"

"Sophia is married to Lucas. No matter what, their relationship is publicly acknowledged by everyone. The people you’re up against aren’t just one—but two. Your grandfather only has his eyes on Sophia. So whatever you do out there, you must be cautious. Understand?"

Ethan nodded obediently. "Mom, don’t worry, I understand everything. But you’ve been suffering here at home too. You love art—why not go study design? It’s better than staying cooped up here every day."

Lisa sighed. She felt touched, but even more helpless.

"You know if I really leave the house, your grandfather will definitely nag nonstop."

If she stayed home, Thomas didn’t like her. If she left home, he’d complain even more.

Lisa reached out and hugged her son. "I haven’t achieved much in this life, but at least I gave birth to you. You’re my pride. So you must be careful, alright?"

Ethan’s relationship with his mother was still good, but the old man always tried to keep them from being too close. He always felt Lisa was too stupid and would drag them down.

"Alright, Mom, I’m leaving. I still have a lot to do. I need to find a way to get Olivia out."

"If you really like her, then live well with her. If you don’t..."

She suddenly didn’t know how to continue. Even if he didn’t like her, there was nothing anyone could do. The old man only cared about the Morgan Family’s fortune—nothing else mattered.

Ethan nodded slightly, then turned and left.

Lisa let out a long sigh, worry filling her eyes.

"Lisa, what are you thinking about?"

Not far behind her, Brandon walked over.

"Dad is pushing Ethan too hard. I’m afraid it’ll backfire."

"Kids should go out into the world and make something of themselves. Besides... Dad doesn’t pay attention to me either. Isn’t he the one running every part of Trump Family’s company? But it seems he’s very satisfied with our son."

"Brandon, sometimes I don’t understand whether Dad sees Ethan as his grandson... or as a tool."

"Alright, stop thinking too much. As long as Ethan obeys, Dad will be happy. He’s getting old—we just need to give in a little. Best if we don’t show up in front of him too often."

It was, unfortunately, the only feasible solution.

On the other side—

After leaving, Ethan didn’t go to Trump Family’s company at all.

Instead, he headed somewhere else.

His car pulled up in front of Scott Group’s headquarters, and he quickly went inside.

The receptionist saw him and, already familiar with his presence, let him through without hesitation.

He pushed open the office door, surprising the person inside.

"What are you doing here?"

Ethan took a seat directly, curling his lips slightly as he looked at the man across from him. "I need you to do me a favor."
