CHAPTER 621: CHAPTER 621: WE JUST HAD A LITTLE ARGUMENT
When Michael Linton and Amelia Linton were exchanging pleasantries in the living room, Fabian Holmes also rushed back. To avoid a repeat of last night’s incident, he called Theodore Holmes beforehand, instructing him not to come home tonight and to stay in a hotel temporarily.
Fabian greeted Michael politely and sat down not far from the siblings. Once seated, he found himself at a loss for words.
Not only did he not know what to say, but even the siblings were at a loss for words. The three of them fell into silence, and the atmosphere in the living room grew somewhat awkward.
"Ahem!"
After a while, Michael broke the rather awkward silence with a deliberate cough.
Fabian and Amelia instinctively turned to look at him. Seizing the opportunity, he quickly spoke up, "I want to know what exactly happened last night. Can either of you tell me?"
The moment he spoke, he went straight to the events of the previous night. He wasn’t trying to hold a grudge; he just wanted to use it as a starting point to have a proper conversation with them.
If not for last night’s conversation in the pavilion, Fabian would have thought Michael was here today to hold him accountable. Now, he didn’t think so because he knew what Michael actually wanted to say.
"What could have possibly happened? I just suddenly felt unwell and went to the hospital for a rest, that’s all." Amelia spoke up before Fabian could. She made it sound extremely casual, as if that’s all there was to it last night.
Upon hearing her words, the two men were momentarily stunned, but they quickly returned to normal.
Michael glanced at Fabian, then shifted his gaze to Amelia, who was sitting beside him. "How could you suddenly feel unwell for no reason? Sis, what’s actually wrong with you?"
He knew in his heart why she ended up in the hospital last night, but he didn’t expose her since he understood his sister. Even if he spoke up, she wouldn’t admit it.
"You..."
"Your sister felt unwell and went to the hospital last night because she was upset. We had a fight."
Amelia didn’t seem to want to reveal the truth, so Fabian spoke up before she could, wanting to seize the rare opportunity today.
As soon as Fabian finished speaking, Amelia shot him a displeased look. But since Michael was sitting next to her, she forcibly suppressed her anger.
Michael was actually quite dissatisfied with Fabian as well. It wasn’t because Fabian spoke up, but because of Fabian’s attitude and the anxiety he showed.
"You two are old enough to know better than to argue, aren’t you worried the kids will laugh at you?" Now that the truth was out, he didn’t hold back. He wasn’t one to beat around the bush.
"Don’t listen to your brother-in-law; we just had a minor disagreement," Amelia said, seizing a moment when Michael wasn’t paying attention to glare at Fabian who was sitting not far away.
Michael was actually observing Amelia out of the corner of his eye the whole time, noticing her small gesture of glaring at Fabian.
"Whether you had a big fight or just a minor disagreement, I think it’s best for the two of you to set a good example for the kids." He paused and continued, "Easton is about to have a wedding with Lily, you..."
Upon hearing about Easton’s upcoming wedding with Lily Turner, Amelia suddenly became anxious, "What?! Easton is going to have a wedding with that girl?"
