Re: God of Formation.
Chapter 138: Inside the Ruin
CHAPTER 138: INSIDE THE RUIN
Jun Wu and Mei Ling walked quietly through the narrow cave tunnel. It was damp, water dripping from the ceiling.
Holding the Star Radiance flower, the two dared not let down their guard. They had been walking for more than half an hour.
"Do you think we can find the ruin entrance here?" Mei Ling whispered, her voice filled with uncertainty.
Jun Wu was unsure. "I don’t know, but I hope we find it. Else..."
He did not complete his statement, but she understood what he was trying to say.
Slowly, they continued deeper into the cave. They were already hundreds of meters beneath the surface.
Suddenly, they saw a small light in the distance. The two exchanged subtle glances. Quickly, their steps quickened.
The small light had given them hope.
As they got closer to the light, they discovered it was getting bigger.
Hmm?!
To their shock, the light was not coming from the tunnel. They widened their eyes, their hearts skipping a beat.
How could this be?
Although they did not understand what was going on, they knew it was impossible to leave at this stage.
"Let’s do it together?" Jun Wu whispered and stretched out his hand.
Looking at his hand, Mei Ling did not hesitate to grab it.
Simply looking at the light that felt as if it were coming from another world, she did not have the confidence to step into it alone.
Besides, she had come to trust him.
Holding each other’s hands, they took a deep breath as they stepped forward.
Whoosh!
The moment they stepped into the light, their silhouettes vanished and the bright light began to disperse.
In less than ten seconds, the light was gone and the cave was thrown into thick darkness. If anyone were to find the cave, they would only see an empty, dark tunnel wall.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the light, Jun Wu and Mei Ling arrived before a monastery.
The monastery had many temples of various sizes. Mere looking at the temples would make anyone feel how special and sacred this ground was.
Unfortunately, all the temples were in ruins. Pillars crumbled to dust, temples split into two.
The air was filled with grief and sorrow.
Among the temples, a temple stood out.
It was the biggest temple of all, standing imposingly at the center of the monastery. It was over one hundred meters in height.
Mere looking at it made the duo feel like ants.
Jun Wu, still holding Mei Ling, dragged her, waking her from her daze. The two walked toward the grand temple.
Although everywhere was in ruin, it was quite different from the shadowless region that wanted to devour them whole.
They could feel the grief and pain, while also they could feel some comfort, soothing their minds.
The feeling was magical.
"What is going on?" Jun Wu muttered.
They had been walking for over ten minutes, but he felt something was wrong.
"Stop!" He commanded with a solemn tone.
Hmm?
Mei Ling was stunned and looked at him. "What’s wrong?"
"Something is not right..." He responded and began to look at their surroundings carefully.
At first, everything felt normal, but the more he looked, the more he found something was wrong.
Suddenly, it dawned on him.
"This is a formation!" he announced.
"What!" She widened her eyes in disbelief.
How could that be possible?
Jun Wu did not bother to explain as he wore a grave expression. They were inside an illusory formation that had tampered with all their senses.
Without shattering the formation, they should forget about escaping alive.
As an Array Formation, he knew what should be done. Quickly, he began to look for energy patterns.
A formation is made of energy, and to command the energy, it needs a distinct pattern.
"Found it!" He mused, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. For others, the illusory formation might pose a threat.
But for him, he just needed a couple of moments.
Mei Ling watched without disturbing as he moved in a circle. Suddenly, a pure spiritual energy gushed out of his palm into the surrounding air.
Instead of the energy dissipating, the space vibrated as if it were swallowing the energy.
Bang!
The sound of something shattering echoed in the air. Instantly, the scene around them vanished, and they found themselves on a cliff.
More importantly, at the edge of a cliff.
Huh!
Mei Ling gasped and quickly retreated. She was barely a foot from falling over the edge.
The cliff was thousands of meters in height with no end in sight. Falling meant one thing—death.
"That was close..." Jun Wu said, his back drenched in cold sweat.
If he had reacted a fraction of a second late, both of them would have fallen to their deaths.
Shaking his head, he wiped the bead of sweat from his forehead. He turned and looked at the gigantic temple in the distance.
"Let go..."
"Hmm. Hmm!" She nodded and couldn’t help but shiver at the thought of falling from such a height.
This time, their steps were slow and careful. They did not dare believe what they saw or felt. Perception could be deceiving.
Luckily, nothing happened.
They arrived in front of the colossal temple door, their breath catching in their throats.
Simply standing before the ancient door made them feel they were smaller than a door.
The wooden temple door was over ten meters tall.
How was such a door made?
Both of them couldn’t help but think.
Suddenly, the massive door creaked and began to move. Its movement was slow, but the sound coming from it spoke of its weight.
It merely opened slightly before it stopped.
Gazing at the small opening, the two looked at each other and nodded.
Jun Wu took a deep breath. To say he was scared would be a lie, but they had no choice but to step into the temple.
Slowly, he walked toward the door and entered Mei Ling right behind him.
