Re: Player 2: At the Edge of Two Realities
Chapter 25: [Back to the Past!]
CHAPTER 25: [BACK TO THE PAST!]
Once again, I found myself in a dilemma, struggling to make sense of what had just occurred. It was a puzzle with few answers and only vague leads to follow.
It doesn’t happen much. But when it did, it sure was a bugger.
Turning to the side, I looked out at Linc, cleaning the shop as usual. He was humming his favourite song he had learned in his hometown and enjoying it as he swept the floor with both his broom and water magic.
I must say. He is quite adept at using common magic. I thought before recalling the main topic.
So why was there only one Primordial this time? I questioned. My brows furrowed as I realised this whole thing was important to look into. I felt like it was a chance to understand the primordials, how they function, or at least a part of their capabilities and limitations.
There weren’t many ideas to go on, but I did have a few hunches to look into.
The first one was obvious, being Linc more important than I thought, and only one primordial strong enough to see through him. But thinking more deeply about it, I doubted this was the case. If he were indeed special.... Hmmm... I don’t think I would have any idea of it.
Looking at Linc, dancing badly as he controlled the water and fire sweeping the floor shiny clean around him, I observed him with an amused expression on my face.
"HEY LINK! ARE YOU A FATE WEAVER OR SOMETHING?" I asked out loud, making Linc turn to me, confused.
"FATE WHAT?!!" He shouted back.
"YOU KNOW THE ONES WHO WILL DEFINE THE END OF THIS WORLD. BUNCH OF LUNATICS FUCKERS WHOSE LAZY ASSES GOT THE CHANCE TO TURN THE ROULITE OF DESTINY," I shouted back.
Linc paused for a few seconds, then asked back,
"ARE YOU DRUNK??"
Doesn’t seem to be the case here. I sighed a bit before pondering on the next best guess that I had. Something that seemed more appropriate than the last one.
Let’s suppose that each of the Primordials has a race attached to it. Some can see over the devils, others humans, some elves, some monsters. One Primordial held authority only over a specific race, and they cannot look into the memories or powers of other races in Zarraf. Will that be the reason why there was only one Primordial appearing when Linc had my memories? I pondered it, and somehow found the reason appropriate.
This theory was easier to check and confirm. I did know a vampire, an elf and a few other races of people. But before I confirmed that, there was one more hunch that I had.
The fact that it was hard to see through the memories of other people. Making it very difficult, even for the Primordials, to see through them. Perhaps because of laws or something? But because it is difficult and not impossible, there was a chance that only one Primordial had checked through Linc’s memories while others were not willing to pay the price.
Hmmm. All right. That’s all I got for the time being. I thought as I used an older [Save] point and loaded back to the time when I was in Border Town. It was a few days earlier before the Inverse realm gate was about to be opened up.

Opening my eyes in a familiar setting, I saw the same storeroom where my bed was, a bunch of arrays placed neatly by the bedside table. The same old small shop where I first started making the arrays, and the place where I had so many connections that put a small smile on my face.
Once this mess with the Doctor is over, I should spend some time here as well. Hmmm... perhaps I can even take the players to the elves? That should be worth considering. I thought as I stretched a bit and got out of bed.
Reaching out, I first saw Leena and Anna making breakfast for the three of us. Leena was making some biscuits and boiling the tea, while Anna was setting the plates on the floor over a neat carpet.
The aroma of the tea, along with the blueberry pie, was something that I had totally forgotten.
It was quite a nostalgic scene that I somehow felt really joyful looking at. So much, that I decided to pause and enjoy that breakfast with them. Even though it really didn’t mean anything for anyone other than me. Even though I would be the only one to remember it, I still wanted to do it.
"How are the preparations?" Leena asked, a bit concerned. I recalled the few events that had happened around this time and answered honestly, making her relieved as she nodded and poured tea into my cup before I talked with the two girls a bit more than usual.
After about 20 minutes of nonsense bickering, I then stood up and said my byes before moving towards the Nahida forest. My target was Trisha, the High-Elf who had come here from the Nirvana Kingdom, the one under the rule of the Goddess of Life. And also Nvida, the dryad who lived there.
Going into the forest, I navigated back to the place where they were sitting. Beside the lake, the place where I first met Trisha, Nvida and Trisha were talking amongst each other with a serious expression. They were discussing the future events and the way to handle them, to which I pondered a little before getting closer to them.
Sensing me approaching, both of them turned to me and walked in my direction.
"Wesker? You are early. Did something happen?" Worried, Nvida asked, while Trisha followed behind her. I pondered a bit before moving closer to them and speaking,
"There is something that I wanted to share first. But since there are a few people who are watching over me, can I share my memories instead?"
Though surprised at the fact that I could share memories, they still nodded. The situation was grave with the whole Black Mage thing, and anything that can be utilised should be utilised.
Moving closer to them, I first shared the memories of the Northern City with Nvida, the Dryad, and then with Trisha, the High Elf. Similar to Linc, both of them had a severe headache, which they immediately began healing with their magic.
"What are... these memories?" Nvida asked, confused, finding the irrelevance of the memories to the current situation.
"This seems to be somewhere in a winter setting. What is this place?" Trisha noticed a few more things in the memories while I waited for them to appear. If they were really able to look into the memories of other people based on the race, there was a high chance that this time I was going to get at least 2 Primoridals, each different from the white clothes one last time.
About a minute passed...
Hmmm? Are they not going to appear this time? This is a bit-
-BOOOM!!!!
As I was thinking, I then turned to look at the two who had appeared this time.
A man in green clothes and another one, a woman in a blue dress. They were there when the 7 of them appeared all at once.
The one with the green clothes looked more like an advanced race of an Elf, much more charming than Trisha, or even Freya, the Goddess of Life. He bore the same serious expression as last time, his eyes trying to see through me, but failing to find anything unusual.
Beside him was a blue-dressed woman with a peculiar look on her face. She seemed to be much calmer than the Primordial in green, but my senses told me that I should not judge it based on appearances. It felt like she was far more curious about me than her partner in green was.
As usual, their arrival brought destruction to the entire forest, disintegrating everything in their presence. Though unlike the drunkard, they did not seem to be of the talkative type.
From the corner of my eyes, I also saw the dead, disintegrating bodies of Trisha and Nvida, while I sighed before opening my system.

Waking up once again, I guessed that the second hunch, that is, the primordials being assigned a specific race, was the closest to the truth. So, working in that direction, I recalled all the people of different races that I knew of.
There was Vladimir the Vampire, the witches Leena and Anna, a few more elves, and a bunch of demi-humans within the Border Town. There were a few more people like the Gods, and the devils as well. Even the Angel, Harik, was there too.
Well. Let’s begin our search, I suppose? I sighed as I began focusing on Nvida and Trisha once again, this time only one of them at a time.
