CHAPTER 58: 58 - SNITCHING

[The skeleton’s traits, Servant of Gods and Legacy, are reacting to your trait, ???.]

The system said.

’Why are those traits reacting to mine?’

’In the first place—what even is this ??? trait?!’

I questioned—this trait always does something on its own during weird times!

’What the fuck?!!’

I have a lot of questions in my mind, but first... I tried to remove my hand from the skeleton’s skull—though it was useless. I couldn’t take it off.

"?!!"

Then I suddenly felt a continuous pain in my head, like it was being cracked open!

"...!!!"

I tried to scream, but no voice came out of my mouth.

"!!!"

My whole body trembled under such pain. The veins all over my body bulged and looked like they were about to pop any second!

Thud-

I fell on my knees, then I started banging my chest with powerful strikes from my fists. I couldn’t breathe!

My soundless screaming continued for seconds.

And after enduring that hellish and radiating pain for a while...

"..."

THUD!

I lost consciousness and my body fell on the ground.

’Fucking..... hell...’

...

...

...

*****

"Fwaaaa...!"

Regaining my consciousness later, I found myself lying on the cold, mossy stone floor.

I was still in the same place where I passed out.

"Urgh..."

I supported my body and stood up.

"What the fuck happened?"

I mumbled, holding my head and massaging my temple—there was still some lingering pain.

"Argh! Shit."

I cursed, remembering why I was in pain.

"How long was I out?"

I asked.

[For about 5 hours.]

Then the system replied immediately.

’So it’s about [3:00 PM] now... I have a meeting with Clifford in 2 hours.’

I calculated in my head—I had plans after my visit here. Though I unexpectedly wasted a lot of time here because of that weird phenomenon.

"Hey system, what was that?"

I asked, referring to what happened earlier.

[As you were told before, the Higher Being used your work as this universe’s center.]

I nodded at the system’s words, then it continued.

[So they decided to change and add things up to make the story more interesting.]

"But they’re adding too much!"

I angrily exclaimed.

[It’s pretty obvious why if you think about it carefully. Your novel had vague details sometimes—about materials, monsters, dungeons, etc.]

The system replied calmly.

[You just wrote details about what the main characters encountered. For example, you said there are thousands of types of monsters, but only wrote about 50 of them. So the Higher Being naturally created things to fill those voids, resulting in you encountering things you don’t know.]

Then it explained to me.

Though I wanted to be angry again, what it said was right... I really did that.

"Okay, I understand."

So I just calmed myself down to avoid wasting energy and time.

"Anyway, did anything change in me because of what happened earlier?"

Then instead, I asked that to the system.

Usually, when something like that happens, something also changes in your body.

And since it seems like the Higher Being is adding cliche novel situations to fill in the blanks I have in my story—I concluded that that’s the case here too.

But I didn’t raise my expectations too much—I didn’t want to be disappointed.

’In the first place, the first scenario of the story hasn’t even started yet. So getting something good now is kinda hard or even close to impossible.’

I thought and shrugged.

[Yes. Open your status window.]

Then when the system answered—

I casually waved my hand and opened my mouth.

"Status."

And after saying that, a familiar transparent window entered my sight.

Swish~

"!"

My eyes widened again in shock as I saw the skill Mana Path Preset in my status window.

"What the actual fuck..."

I weakly mumbled and rubbed my eyes, then looked at my status again.

I closed and opened the window repeatedly to see if it was some kind of bug or if it will go away.

But seeing that it didn’t disappear... It only meant that I really did acquire that skill! Also, my Psychokinesis leveled up!

"Haha..."

A weak laugh escaped my mouth.

"What the fuck is with this trait."

I muttered to myself while looking at the trait ’???’ with a complicated expression on my face.

It’s a trait I don’t have a single idea about, it’s not in my novel.

"Is this the doing of the Higher Being?"

I asked aloud, and sure enough, I received a reply from the system.

[They said that they just gave you a chance to have it—but you claimed and unlocked it through luck and skill.]

"What the fuck does that mean?"

I followed, frowning.

[I don’t fucking know. They won’t tell me the details.]

Then the system replied.

I frowned deeper and racked my brain.

And after some few minutes later... I let out a sigh.

"Haaa..."

"I don’t know what the hell is going on, but I’ll take the skill for granted and just ask Levina about this trait... Maybe she knows something about it."

That was the plan I came up with. I remembered Levina saying something about [Divinity]. I don’t know what that is, same as my trait ’???’, but my guess is that they’re connected.

So with all that for now—I looked at the skeleton lying on the floor, it fell earlier.

"Tsk..."

I clicked my tongue and dug a hole in the room.

And after that... I buried the skeleton and offered a short prayer.

Though I didn’t mention a single god’s name or even make a sign—it’s because I don’t believe in a certain god. I believe that they exist, but I have no way of knowing who they are.

(Raven is an agnostic.)

"I don’t know what or who you are, but thanks for the skill, I guess?"

I awkwardly said as I looked at where the skeleton was buried.

"I’ll use everything I got from you in a lot better ways, don’t worry."

Then after that, I turned around and started walking out of this place.

"This is fucking cringe. I’m leaving."

I mumbled as I left.

"I’ll come back if I have a reason to."

I said before completely leaving the room.

...

...

*****

2 hours later, [5:00 PM]...

Raven is now currently in a restaurant, and he’s in a private room alone.

He’s waiting for Clifford.

After leaving the Red Wolves’ Mountain, Raven immediately went to where he and Clifford are supposed to meet.

"This place is nice. No wonder Clifford recommended meeting here."

He mumbled as he looked around.

It’s a restaurant with a forest-themed design—clean, brown, bark-designed walls with green, scented leaves all over, dangling and making it more natural and beautiful inside.

The table is also made from smoothed tree, and the seats are soft as fuck, making Raven actually a bit sleepy.

The design theme is so calming and natural that Raven wouldn’t be surprised if the owner of the restaurant is an elf.

Though, after a while—he immediately lost interest in the restaurant. Raven didn’t order anything as he doesn’t want to eat food other people made as much as possible.

The only reason he is not being kicked out of the place is due to the fact that he has a reservation with Clifford.

Then, when Raven is really starting to get bored—so bored that he’s considering using Psychokinesis to scare other people eating outside his room just to mess with them—

Shiik—

Tap-

The door opened and Clifford entered.

"Did you wait long?"

Clifford asked and sat opposite of Raven.

"Yeah, I feel like I’m gonna die of boredom."

Raven bluntly replied.

"You’re honest."

"It’s the best policy."

"Did you order any food?"

"Nah, I wouldn’t know if they washed their hands or not before making those foods."

Raven said with a hint of disgust on his face.

"You’re too honest."

Clifford said, shaking his head.

"I don’t want to lie. I’ll be honest as much as possible."

Raven shot back.

"Never mind that, let’s talk about business."

Then he followed and shifted the topic.

"We’re both busy, so let’s finish this quickly."

Clifford smiled and nodded his head.

"You’re right."

And with that, the two talked about the businesses Raven is planning to do. Clifford listened to his plans.

And as he heard them, he couldn’t help but admire Raven’s way of thinking.

...

...

Then after about an hour... They finished their topic.

"So I’ll just need to invest 100 million Zeals?"

Clifford casually asked, like they’re only talking about a small amount of money.

"Yeah, that’s the minimum amount you need to invest so the others will think you’re taking my business seriously. And with that amount, their curiosity will be aroused, resulting in them investing too or buying the products."

Raven explained.

100 million Zeals is not something a 17-year-old like Raven can manage.

But nevertheless, he’s talking confidently about making that amount of money ten times larger in a few years.

Raven’s attitude made Clifford trust him more about the money he’s about to invest in him.

"You’re good at business, huh."

He said with a smile.

Raven smiled too.

’Nah, it’s the system teaching me. Also, I know what will happen in the future, including a bit about economy.’

He thought, then he opened his mouth.

"Yeah, I’m good at business."

Raven doesn’t want anything troublesome, so he just says things that will make him explain less.

"Anyway, is that all?"

Clifford asked.

And after hearing that—Raven’s face became serious.

Then he shook his head.

"There’s something you need to know."

He muttered in a rather serious tone.

And seeing his mood, Clifford became serious too.

"What is it?"

He asked.

Raven smiled and whispered weakly so only Clifford could hear, even though they’re in a private room.

"Do you know anything about a group called [The Followers of the three Goddesses] in the Lunar Academy?"

Then Raven’s smile twisted into a mischievous one.

He was talking about [The Pervert Fans] incident from his novel—the group that he encountered in the cafeteria a couple of days ago.

He’s going to snitch on them to Clifford!
