Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate
Chapter 20: Showing Off
CHAPTER 20: CHAPTER 20: SHOWING OFF
The message sparked lively chatter in the group, with everyone chiming in.
Sophie Wilson noted down the number of attendees, and after doing so, sent an OK emoji in the group chat. Just as she was about to text Charles Seymour, another message popped up in the group.
"I’m also coming."
This message was nothing unusual, but the sender was — Eva.
She had already had a falling out with Eva, but Eva was still coming?
The thickness of her skin is truly extraordinary.
No need to overthink it. It’s clear Eva has no good intentions.
Let her come; is she supposed to be afraid of her?
Once Eva sent that message, the group chat discussing the evening’s plans went quiet, making Eva’s message stand out even more.
Sophie Wilson had just finished typing and hadn’t sent the message yet when another message popped up: "What? Can’t I come?"
"You can, of course you can." Sophie deleted her typed message and wrote a new one to send, "Alright, the headcount is complete. Everyone make sure to show up tonight. Don’t drink too much beforehand, save some room for the feast!"
She added a mischievous smile face, warming up the cold group chat.
"Rest assured, I’ll be leaning on the wall when I leave!"
"Definitely get my money’s worth!"
Watching the colleagues sucking up to Sophie Wilson in the group, Eva coldly laughed to herself and messaged Lucas Payten via QQ: "Bring your car over tonight!"
"Alright." Lucas was also holding onto a grudge.
He liked Sophie Wilson for her looks and figure, but he didn’t regret choosing Eva with her background.
Without a background, how can one survive in society?
He never thought there was anything wrong with his choice. The biggest issue was that Sophie Wilson never should’ve found a boyfriend to compete with him.
If Eva gave up on him, wouldn’t all his efforts over time be wasted?
He had to prove to Eva that choosing him was the right choice and that Sophie Wilson was blind to reject him!
The atmosphere at the buffet was great; the barbecue and drinks were available at will, and everyone was having a blast.
Sophie Wilson’s boyfriend seemed cold and not much of a talker, but he was easy to get along with, and everyone felt okay about it.
Some people just naturally aren’t social, which is normal.
After everyone was full, they left the mall, not far from a bus stop. Some colleagues even rode bicycles over.
At this point, everyone’s transportation is primarily bicycles, buses, and metros, whereas taking a taxi was rare.
Unless there’s an urgent matter, people usually wouldn’t take taxis to and from work.
Just then, a white sedan slowly drove over and stopped in front of everyone.
Nobody paid much attention, continuing their conversations and farewells.
The car door opened, and Lucas Payten stepped out, calling out to Eva, "Eva, over here."
"Hey!" Eva answered promptly, squeezing out of the crowd with a smile, loudly asking, "Lucas, you brought your car? It’s so nice, not cheap, huh?"
Originally looking for a chance to show off, this moment was perfect!
She still had to thank Sophie Wilson for providing the great opportunity!
"It’s alright, just over a hundred thousand," Lucas said "nonchalantly." "You take the bus every day to and from work, how could I let you squeeze onto a bus? I bit the bullet and bought it."
Lucas’s thoughtfulness earned Eva’s prideful joy. See that? This is what true thoughtfulness looks like!
