Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate
Chapter 391: Who Can’t Do Without Whom
CHAPTER 391: CHAPTER 391: WHO CAN’T DO WITHOUT WHOM
Emerie’s sense of entitlement left Ophelia genuinely at a loss for words to describe her feelings.
Is Emerie truly naive, or just pretending?
"Aunt, what’s going on? Why am I not my mother’s child? Why did you take me away?" Ophelia, agitated, grabbed Emerie’s arm and questioned loudly.
"Why are you shouting? Do you want your grandparents to know you’re a fraud?" Emerie was startled. She didn’t want her parents to know about this either, fearing they would scold her.
"What fraud? Even if I am a fraud, it has nothing to do with me! I’m the victim here!" Ophelia’s words made Emerie furrow her brows. "Ophelia, how can you say that? Wasn’t it your mother—I mean your biological mother—who asked me to do this? I was just helping."
"I don’t care; I must get to the bottom of this and have Grandpa and Grandma decide for me!" Ophelia said, getting up to find Old Mrs. Wilson.
Emerie quickly stood up in fear, "Ophelia, you’re old enough now; don’t be so immature. Let me tell you, if your identity is exposed, you’ll be the one to suffer. If you tell James about it and let your uncle join the partnership, I’ll pretend nothing happened. Think it over!"
After delivering her harsh words, Emerie swiftly left.
Ophelia let out a cold laugh, picked up the phone, and sweetly called James. After some concerned conversation, she casually mentioned, "James, has Uncle Seymour discussed our engagement with Old Mr. Seymour?"
"Don’t worry, my dad went over today. If everything goes smoothly, we’ll know the date in a few days," James teased with a smile. "Why, can’t wait to be my bride already?"
"No way, I was just asking casually." Ophelia retorted playfully, making James burst into laughter, "I’m the one who can’t wait, wanting to secure you sooner."
Ophelia giggled at his words, and after chatting for a while longer, they finally ended the call.
Clutching the phone, Ophelia’s eyes flashed with a disdainful coldness.
Emerie has the nerve to threaten her?
In the end, who knows if it’ll be her who forsakes the Wilson Clan, or the Wilson Clan begging to have her.
Right now, she’s not just the Wilson Clan’s child; she’s also James’s fiancée. Her grandparents aren’t fools; they can distinguish between what’s important and what’s not, right?
Only a fool like Emerie would dare to threaten her.
Let’s see who really can’t live without whom!
——
"Isn’t it? This is a good day, let’s choose this day," Old Mr. Seymour said, pointing at the date on the paper. "Otherwise, we’ll be entering the twelfth lunar month, and getting engaged then isn’t good."
"Yes, let’s choose this day, but isn’t it a bit rushed?" Old Mrs. Seymour hesitated and said, "Let’s call the child and see what he thinks."
"He’s been longing to get engaged for a while; do you really think he’ll complain about it being rushed? I bet he can’t wait to marry her in!" Old Mr. Seymour laughed and scolded at the mention of Charles Seymour.
Don’t be fooled by that boy’s cold demeanor; whenever he sees Sophie, he just melts.
"Mom, Dad, have you settled on a date?" Ethan Seymour walked over joyfully, smiling at the auspicious date Old Mr. and Mrs. Seymour had chosen on the table, and couldn’t help but laugh.
See, he knew his parents still cared for him. How could they possibly favor that ingrate Charles Seymour?
