Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate
Chapter 63 - 063: Unable to Refuse
CHAPTER 63: CHAPTER 063: UNABLE TO REFUSE
"Stephen, today I made your favorite dishes. I specially asked the maid to prepare them." Lily smiled and picked up some food for Stephen, "Stephen, why aren’t you eating?"
Stephen put down his chopsticks and said gravely, "I’m not hungry."
"Why aren’t you hungry? Are you feeling unwell? Should we go to the hospital?" Lily asked nervously.
"I’m eating at home, but I have no idea what Sophie is having." The moment Stephen uttered these words, Lily’s smile froze, and she mumbled, "It’s not like I didn’t let her stay at home; it’s her own choice to rent an apartment near the branch office for convenience."
Regarding Grace’s guidance and her manipulative remarks, Lily acted like nothing happened. After all, Sophie "voluntarily" proposed it back then, what does it have to do with her?
"Look at your attitude the last time she came back!" Stephen said irritably, "Sophie wasn’t happy when she left."
"Was she unhappy? I was just trying to educate her, hoping she wouldn’t abuse her power. I was doing it for her own good!" Lily said confidently.
"If it’s for her own good, can’t you be nicer?" Stephen questioned.
Not leaving her a shred of dignity, Lily felt very wronged, not to mention she had always hated that vixen who stole Stephen from her, and consequently, she harbored resentment towards the vixen’s daughter, Sophie.
Lily’s temper was about to erupt, but Grace, being sensible, spoke up: "Dad, Mom is just worried about Sophie, afraid she’ll go astray."
"I see Sophie’s been at the branch office for quite some time. Why not let her join the quarterly meeting in a few days? She’ll have to return to the head office eventually." Grace’s words finally made Stephen nod in satisfaction, "Alright."
With Grace mediating, the dinner finally ended peacefully.
Lily stormed into Grace’s room, anxiously asking, "Grace, are you out of your mind? Why let her attend the quarterly meeting and return to the head office?"
"Your father’s company is all yours. Why are you pushing it away?"
Lily was almost frantic. If it weren’t for Grace winking at her during dinner, she would have jumped up to oppose it right then.
"Mom, the quarterly meeting is about assessing the performance of each branch office." Grace smiled smugly, "I’ve negotiated two hotel renovation deals this quarter. What does Sophie have?"
Upon hearing this, Lily understood and laughed, "Oh girl, you’re so clever!"
Letting Sophie attend the quarterly meeting was merely setting her up for embarrassment.
Ah, no, no!
It was to use her mediocrity and incompetence to highlight Grace’s capability and prowess!
Grace laughed triumphantly. That fool Sophie wants to compete with her; she’s truly overestimating herself.
——
"Oh wow, you’re amazing!" Sophie looked at the solved Rubik’s Cube from all angles, "How did you do it? Solved it so quickly?"
Charles glared at her with a sullen face, "What’s so difficult about that?"
"It is difficult, I just can’t solve it." Sophie called out admiringly, "You’re awesome, you’re a genius!"
"Hmph." Charles turned his head, seemingly unwilling to look at Sophie’s "silly face."
"Genius, do it again." Sophie quickly scrambled the Rubik’s Cube again and handed it excitedly to Charles.
"Childish." Charles muttered disdainfully, but still took the scrambled Rubik’s Cube. Her eyes were as bright as a kitten’s when seeing fish, making it hard for him to refuse.
