Rebirth: Contract Husband Falls in Love with Me
Chapter 365 - 185: Why Not Go Home 2
CHAPTER 365: CHAPTER 185: WHY NOT GO HOME 2
Cui Bao’s eyes flickered, "Has Master never thought of leaving here and returning to Meng County?"
"Return?" Ren Zhixian was stunned. He had truly never considered returning. Besides, he had nothing left in Meng County, not even a house. If he went back, where would he live, what would he eat!
"Exactly!" Cui Bao said: "Returning is better than staying here and depending on others’ faces! Master, think about it, the lady is after all the young mistress of the Shi family, the Shi family wouldn’t ignore her no matter what!"
Ren Zhixian’s eyes brightened, and he rubbed his hands together, saying, "That’s right, how did I not think of this!"
If he returned, Shi Yumei would naturally have to follow him back. If he had no food and no place to stay, the same would be true for Shi Yumei! He refused to believe that Shi Fengju could just watch Shi Yumei being homeless and destitute!
"Good, I’ve had enough of such a patronizing life. In a few days, once you’ve recovered from your illness, we will go back!" Ren Zhixian said decisively.
Cui Bao was overjoyed and hastily said: "Master is wise, once we arrive in Meng County, won’t it be up to Master to decide? Who would dare to show any disrespect to Master then!"
Remembering the scene when everyone in Meng County flattered and coveted his attention, Ren Zhixian finally let out a satisfied smile, feeling somewhat impatient in his heart!
He was really foolish, he should have thought of this much earlier! Meng County is of course a thousand times, ten thousand times better than here! As long as he had Shi Yumei, what was there to fear?
Cui Bao also felt pleased in her heart, once they left the Shi family, she would belong to the Ren family, and with Ren Zhixian cherishing her so much, nobody else would dare trouble her in the future!
"Master!" Cui Bao’s gaze swept through the house, "All these treasures and ornaments are readily available, why not take them back to decorate our house, which is even better than buying new ones!"
"Right, right!" Since he is using these items, they should obviously belong to him. Cui Bao’s words were absolutely on point!
Cui Bao then said: "However, by then the young master and the others may not allow it, you saw how the young master was last night..."
"Hmph!" Ren Zhixian frowned unhappily, "He can’t possibly argue with me about it!"
"That’s not necessarily the case, and besides, this is the Shi family’s house, they are many and powerful, can we even compete with that?"
"So what do you propose we do?" Ren Zhixian asked.
Cui Bao had been waiting for this exact moment, hurriedly smiling she said: "That’s simple! While no one’s paying attention these days, why don’t we secretly transport those small items out of the mansion and hide them away, that should be doable, right?"
Ren Zhixian did not feel there was anything wrong with this, instead, he nodded repeatedly in agreement, smiling and praising Cui Bao: "You’re so clever, coming up with such a good idea!"
Having made up his mind, Ren Zhixian no longer quarreled or engaged in verbal spats with Shi Yumei, instead he harbored a "just you wait and see" attitude, thinking to himself that after returning to Meng County, to their own Meng home, he must straighten out her bad habits! This was utterly outrageous!
Shi Yumei, unaware of his ulterior motives, saw him not causing trouble and naturally would not start any issues on her own.
The next morning, Sang Wan and Shi Fengju took the carriage to return to Yangliu Town’s Sihe Village.
As usual, there were two carriages, Liu Ya and two servant women rode in one, carrying various gifts, while Shi Fengju and Sang Wan shared the other.
Unlike before, once aboard and seated, Shi Fengju’s eyes didn’t blink and he looked at his wife, smiling, unable to keep still in his eagerness.
Sang Wan’s face reddened under his unabashed and intense gaze. She wanted to avoid it within the carriage but there was only so much space.
"Miss Wan," Shi Fengju laughed as he stretched his long arm to embrace her saying, "We’re husband and wife, why do you sit so far away from me?"
Sang Wan cast a slightly annoyed glance at him, thinking to herself, even when we were husband and wife in the past, you still kept your distance from me, didn’t you?
Seeing her coquettishly aggrieved expression, Shi Fengju’s heart swayed, and he couldn’t help but lower his head to kiss her lightly on the forehead, the nose, and the cheeks, "Miss Wan, this is the first time we’ve gone out together since we’ve been together!"
"Don’t fuss in the carriage. If my dress and hair get disheveled, how will I face others?" Sang Wan quickly laughed and tried to push him away.
"Don’t worry, I’ll be gentle." Shi Fengju laughed, looked out through the veil at the distant mountains and beautiful scenery continuously passing by. This road had been traveled three times, including the time he fetched his bride, but only this time did he feel genuine delight and contentment. After all, he hadn’t missed out on her. Perhaps from the day he received her, she was destined to be his, Shi Fengju’s, for life—he was just slow to realize. With a move of his heart, Shi Fengju wrapped his arms around her, sitting her on his lap.
"Fengju!" Sang Wan was startled and struggled to get down. Even in the house, he had never hugged her like this, and she wouldn’t dare either. If by chance the slaves accidentally entered and saw, she would be too embarrassed to face anyone!
"No," Shi Fengju held her tight, Chuckling obstinately, "Let me hold you! No one will see!"
Sang Wan glanced at the closed carriage door, felt somewhat relieved, and said nothing more, gently leaning into his embrace.
Shi Fengju was delighted, becoming increasingly affectionate with her along the way, with endless sweet nothings and tender expressions of love.
Sang Hong and Mrs. Fang knew they were returning today, so they started preparing dishes early on. Around noon, they heard children from the village running over and chattering excitedly, "The carriage is coming! The carriage is coming!" Sang Hong and Mrs. Fang, along with their children, hurried out to welcome them.
Shi Fengju tidied Sang Wan’s hair, alighted from the carriage, and helped her down. Sang Hong and Mrs. Fang were already approaching with smiles, saying, "We’ve been waiting for half the day, and you’ve finally arrived!"
Sang Xiaoquan and Sang Xiaonuan, both wearing brand-new clothes, ran forward laughing and calling, "Auntie, Uncle," Sang Wan replied with a smile, holding one child in each hand, smiling back at her brother and sister-in-law, "We’ve also been looking forward to today. The roads were a bit difficult to navigate after the snow a few days ago, otherwise, we would have arrived even sooner!"
