Mr. Lu chuckled, waved his hand to dismiss the family servants, and held Su Qing’er on his lap, softly caressing her startled little face, "Were you scared just now, hmm?"

Su Qing’er, seeing that he was still siding with her, had a flash of well-timed fright in her eyes and hurriedly shook her head with a smile, saying in a good-natured manner, "I am fine, it’s just that Shi Fengju is a narrow-minded person. But what she didn’t know was that in Mr. Lu’s eyes, she was nothing more than a pet, and Mr. Lu had long seen through that in Shi Fengju’s eyes, she wasn’t even worth mentioning! How could Shi Fengju possibly make an enemy of Mr. Lu over her? Mr. Lu certainly didn’t believe Shi Fengju would be that irrational. If Shi Fengju truly sought revenge, he would have delivered her back with both hands by now; after all, there was no shortage of women in the world, why would he fret over one less?

Shi Fengming ran out of the restaurant all the way, only stopping after a great distance, smashing his fist against a willow tree by the West Lake’s shore, seething with resentment.

Although the pain on his face was not as scorching as before, it still prickled his heart. He suddenly felt like he had been dreaming all day, in a daze.

His older brother had let him out of his room in the morning, and seeing the familiar yet long-unseen open air, he felt bewildered. Everything that had just happened felt like a daze to him too.

"Go back!" A hand patted his shoulder.

Shi Fengming sidestepped to avoid it with disgust, and without turning back, he coldly said, "You go away, I don’t want to see you!"

"This day was bound to come sooner or later," Shi Fengju said indifferently, "I just made it happen sooner!" Saying so, he laid out his scheme to Shi Fengming in simple terms.

Shi Fengming was already furious, and hearing him brag about such "glorious deeds" in front of him made him so angry that he shouted, "Enough! I knew it was you, I just knew it was you! If you hadn’t pushed Qing’er to the edge, she wouldn’t have ended up like this! It’s all your fault, Shi Fengju, and you dare to say it in front of me!"

Shi Fengju was annoyed as well, he sneered, "If she had no intention, how could she end up like this? Did I forcefully tie her up and send her to Mr. Lu? Shi Fengming’s lips trembled trying to retort, but he realized he couldn’t refute at all! His mind was a blank white, and staring blankly at the lake before him, he just felt the jumping silver lights were blinding.

Shi Fengju had no interest in continuing the conversation, and coldly said to Chang Huan, "Take good care of the second young master. If he refuses to return, tie him up and bring him back!" Having said that, he turned and left.

Shi Fengming stood still for a moment and then snorted, turning his head away without speaking.

It wasn’t until the evening that Shi Fengming, accompanied by Chang Huan, returned to the villa. Shi Fengju and Sang Wan had just finished dinner not long ago, and upon hearing the housekeeper’s report, Shi Fengju instinctively got up to welcome him but abruptly halted himself, coldly saying, "If he has returned, let him be. Nothing so important as to report specifically! Lead him down to settle down!"

The housekeeper was taken aback and looked at Sang Wan uneasily.

Sang Wan shook her head with a smile in her heart and said, "The second young master’s return must mean he has thought things through, which is good! We’ll be heading home in a few days, and this will also give us an explanation to give to his second uncle and aunt. Please invite him in to talk!"

Shi Fengju didn’t make a sound, and Sang Wan said to the housekeeper, "What are you standing there for? Hurry and bring the second young master in!"
