CHAPTER 93: CHAPTER 47: THE FURY OF SECOND UNCLE AND SECOND AUNT

Sang Hong was momentarily at a loss for words, then sighed, "You do make sense! However, no matter what, this is the Shi family’s matter, and our involvement might unfavorably affect Miss Wan!"

"Who wants to get involved!" Mrs. Fang sneered, "I’m just giving Miss Wan a heads-up! Let me ask you, if Shi family ever bullies Miss Wan in the future, would you intervene or not?"

"Of course I will!" Sang Hong said decisively, "She is my own sister! However, the sister-in-law is decent; she won’t mistreat Miss Wan!"

Mrs. Fang sneered and leisurely said, "Well, that’s hard to say!"

Sang Hong couldn’t help but stare at her curiously, "What is with you, talking in such a strange tone? Is there something you want to say?"

"Not right now! Hopefully, there will never be!" Mrs. Fang glanced at him dismissively.

With women’s keen and sensitive nature, and considering that Mrs. Fang herself was no fool, recalling yesterday’s conversation between Liu Ya and Sang Wan, and based on her observations of Gu Fangzi during dinner, although it was inconvenient for her to pryingly inquire anything from the maids of the Shi family, Mrs. Fang already felt some suspicions rising within her. However, since Sang Wan refused to speak and it wasn’t appropriate for her to press on, being a sister-in-law after all and not a mother! Moreover, the Shi family had not yet committed any overt wrongdoing, so she was not about to foolishly pierce through this facade and give them the chance to exploit the situation.

"Ah," Sang Hong couldn’t help but laugh, "That sounds so mysterious! What? Did you attend Zen?"

Mrs. Fang huffed, glancing at him, "Yes, is that not allowed?"

Sang Hong laughed loudly, shook his head and no longer bothered with her.

"Keep laughing! Wait until you see the second uncle and second aunt, you won’t be laughing then!" Mrs. Fang said slowly.

The expression on Sang Hong’s face stiffened indeed, and he rubbed his forehead with headache.

Meanwhile, Second Master Sang and Mrs. Li, anxiously waiting and waiting until nightfall but not seeing Sang Hong and Mrs. Fang, became furious. They incessantly cursed the couple for being heartless and nefarious! Firmly believing that they had left behind the three of them and returned to Sihe Village alone.

With no other choice, they stayed overnight at a farmer’s house.

The next day, as soon as dawn broke, they eagerly set out accompanied by Sang Yan, anxious to return home and scold Sang Hong and Mrs. Fang thoroughly, also wanting to see how much stuff the couple had brought back and whether they had kept anything secret.

After much discussion, they hired a bullock cart and embarked on their shaky journey back to Yangliu Town. Mrs. Li, fretting about having to pay for the cart, gave Sang Hong and Mrs. Fang another harsh rant.

Thus, when Sang Hong and Mrs. Fang called the carriage to stop beside a household to pick someone up, and were informed that they had already left, the couple exchanged wry smiles, knowing there must have been a misunderstanding.

The bullock cart creaked and moved excruciatingly slowly, making Second Master Sang and Mrs. Li so anxious they almost jumped out of their shoes. Close to reaching Yangliu Town, they finally caught up with Sang Hong’s carriage. Sang Hong hurriedly called for a stop and waved, calling out "Second Uncle! Second Aunt!"

Second Master Sang and Mrs. Li were dumbstruck, their eyes wide open unable to recover for a good while.

"You - How are you here!" Mrs. Li hastily jumped off the bullock cart, furiously pointing at Sang Hong.

"This is preposterous!" Second Master Sang followed, also sneering, "You went off to enjoy yourselves, making us wait endlessly!"

"Exactly! Since you stayed the night, why didn’t you send a carriage for us!" Mrs. Li glared.

Sang Hong dared not admit that they had deliberately left them behind, so he kept smiling and saying sweet words.

"I say, Second Uncle and Second Aunt, have you had lunch yet? Are you hungry?" Mrs. Fang asked with a smile.

This question immediately made Second Master Sang and Mrs. Li painfully aware of their hunger, involuntarily swallowing their saliva.

"You still have the nerve to ask!" Second Master Sang huffed, "We haven’t even had breakfast because of you! Let’s hurry, eat well in town then head back!"

Second Master Sang, flicking his sleeves, climbed onto the carriage and Mrs. Li, pulling along Sang Yan, also boarded.

With resentment in their hearts, upon entering the best restaurant in town, Second Master Sang and Mrs. Li ordered a grand feast to somewhat soothe their feelings.

After eating their fill, both of them had almost cooled down their anger.

Mrs. Li then had the waiter pack up the leftover chicken, duck, fish, and meat to take away, finally showing a hint of a smile on her face.

With their spirits restored, they constantly asked Sang Hong and his wife about the situation in the Shi family during their trip. When they got home, they closely watched as Sang Hong and his wife took out the Shi family’s return gifts one by one.

"Is this all?" Second Master Sang and Mrs. Li were skeptical.

"Here’s the list." Mrs. Fang, without a word, straightforwardly handed over the bright red gift list.

Second Master Sang awkwardly accepted it, then eagerly reviewed it. Seeing no discrepancies, he was somewhat disappointed and then asked, "Didn’t Miss Wan give you any extra silver?"
