Rebirth: Divorcing the Billionaire
Chapter 138: No Chance to Become the Richest Man’s Wife
CHAPTER 138: CHAPTER 138: NO CHANCE TO BECOME THE RICHEST MAN’S WIFE
Jian Sirun followed Jian Xi out of the bedroom. "Doing this will only intensify the rift between you and Si Yuhuan. Aren’t you afraid Jiang Qimeng will seize the opportunity to get ahead?"
"Whatever." Jian Xi looked up at the sky. "I’ve had enough of these days."
Jian Sirun stared at Jian Xi’s back. My sister, you really have changed!
Si Yuhuan went to the Jian Family, only to be met with a closed door. "I’m sorry, son-in-law," a servant said, "our Master and Madam said that the Young Miss has gone abroad to relax. She won’t be back anytime soon, and it’s inconvenient to entertain guests at home. Please see yourself out."
He was somewhat disheartened. Jian Xi was obviously avoiding him; she wanted a divorce, this time for real.
Yan Qing reminded him, "Boss, we should go pick up Miss Jiang now."
「.....」
Si Yuhuan could never have anticipated the scene that awaited him when he went to pick up Jiang Qimeng; he was completely stunned. A woman was tearing a wooden chair apart with her bare hands. She looked as disheveled as a wild beast, her body shaking nonstop from either pain or fear. She was covered in self-inflicted bruises and bloodstains, with not a single patch of healthy skin visible. Her eyes were bloodshot, like those of an abused, trapped animal. The sight made his scalp tingle.
"Yuhan, Yuhan..." When Jiang Qimeng saw him, she clutched desperately at his trouser leg, tears streaming down her face like rain. She started to choke on her sobs, then her eyes rolled back, and she fainted.
"Mengmeng?" Si Yuhuan felt as if his chest had been ripped open. He swept Jiang Qimeng into his arms and rushed out.
Jian Xi stepped out, coldly observing Si Yuhuan’s concern for Jiang Qimeng. She was like an emotionless robot. No one knew how much pain she was truly feeling in her heart. The man she loved had never loved her back and was exceedingly caring toward another woman. Even with the script for a second chance at life in her hands, she had still made such a mess of things. Suddenly, she even despised herself.
Jian Sirun was not a man of many words. He simply placed a large hand on her shoulder and remained silent. Jian Xi drew strength from this gesture and turned to bury herself in her brother’s embrace. Thankfully, she had living parents and brothers who adored her.
Si Yuhuan rushed to the hospital and handed Jiang Qimeng over to the doctors. Even for someone accustomed to dramatic scenes, it was hard not to admit the sight was horrific.
"Quickly, get her into an examination room!" a doctor instructed, wiping sweat from their brow.
The young nurse muttered, "It’s like they tried to kill her! This is too horrific. She’s covered in rashes from the poison; she’s been poisoned half to death."
His fists clenched tightly, fury rising within him.
"Yuhan!" Jiang Qimeng suddenly regained consciousness and kept calling out for Si Yuhuan. As she wouldn’t stop calling his name, the doctor had no choice but to let Si Yuhuan accompany her during the bandaging process.
Jiang Qimeng was determined. No matter what, she couldn’t suffer for nothing. Si Yuhuan had to see the pain she endured; only then would he feel guilty. The more guilty he felt, the more she would gain.
Her agonized, hoarse screams filled the air as they bandaged her, almost completely wrapping her in gauze. After a few feeble coughs, Jiang Qimeng even spat out blood.
The doctor said gravely, "These are superficial, self-inflicted injuries caused by the patient reacting to pain. Her internal organs and muscles aren’t too severely affected. However, she had a previous ligament injury that hadn’t healed properly and has now suffered secondary damage. I’m afraid her left leg will have a slight, permanent impairment from now on."
Jiang Qimeng burst into tears, throwing herself into Si Yuhuan’s arms. She sobbed uncontrollably, "Yuhan, I’m disabled now! Will you still want me?"
In the past, he would have said yes without hesitation. But now, realizing he might have developed feelings for Jian Xi, he hesitated.
"Yuhan, you despise me for being disabled, don’t you?" Jiang Qimeng continued, her voice laced with sorrow. "I’m sorry. It was wrong of me to pressure you. I’ll never do this again."
BANG! The door was flung open forcefully. Si Junyan stood there, his eyes red, looking at Jiang Qimeng, who was barely recognizable.
"Sister Meng!" His heart ached. He roared at Si Yuhuan, "Big Brother, Sister Meng is like this all because of you! If you don’t marry her, how can you live up to your promise? Look at her leg!"
Si Yuhuan’s gaze was heavy with guilt. He had once said he would marry Jiang Qimeng. But at that time, he hadn’t fallen in love with Jian Xi. And Jiang Qimeng had done him a favor.
"Have you forgotten that Sister Meng saved your life?" Si Junyan continued. "Without her, would you be where you are today? This is the second time she has nearly lost her life for you!"
Jiang Qimeng sobbed, "Junyan, don’t pressure your big brother. I’m going to be disabled. I’m not worthy..."
"No," Si Yuhuan stated, "I will take care of you for the rest of your life."
After uttering those words, Si Yuhuan fled in panic.
Jiang Qimeng clenched her fists. Even after all this, he still won’t promise to marry me! I hate Jian Xi! I hate her to death!
Si Junyan came to comfort her. "Big Brother is just overwhelmed right now. Sister Meng, are you still in pain?"
With a ready-made spare tire like him, she wasn’t about to pass up the chance to use him. "Junyan," she said, her voice choked with emotion, "I’m so glad you’re here. Otherwise, I really..." She couldn’t finish her sentence, her voice choked with sobs.
Si Junyan clenched his fists, trying hard to suppress the romantic feelings stirring within him. He hugged her. "Sister Meng, I’m still here for you! Look what I brought."
He took out a share authorization document. "Grandfather hasn’t regained consciousness yet, so I’m not technically entitled to give you these shares outright. However, I can delegate the full management rights of these shares to you. Sister Meng, are you happy with that?" he asked, like a child seeking praise.
Jiang Qimeng was taken aback for a moment. She had forgotten about that—the Old Master wasn’t dead, but he wasn’t awake either, which was a complication. Her contact had only told her to get the shares, not *how* to get them. So, this would have to do!
"Yes, I’m happy. But... aren’t you going to ask me why I want these shares?"
Si Junyan shook his head. "If Sister Meng wants them, there must be a good reason."
Jiang Qimeng nodded shyly, forgetting her face was currently swollen and bandaged. "Now that I’m also working at Haohan Group, I don’t want to always be overshadowed by Jian Xi."
"Sister Meng, you’re not a vain person. I understand. You don’t need to explain. I’ll support you in whatever you do."
「....」
Wan Yu was at the hospital to change her dressings when she happened to pass by the emergency room. Hearing familiar voices inside, she leaned against the door to watch and then hit record on her phone.
BLECH! It was truly, utterly nauseating. Not only was she shamelessly vying for the position of the richest man’s wife, but she was also stringing along his cousin as a backup. Wan Yu had seen countless trashy women, but never one as utterly vile as Jiang Qimeng. Thinking of the injustice and injuries she had endured because of that woman...
Wan Yu used her connections to push the video directly to the top of the trending searches.
Soon, everyone was lambasting Jiang Qimeng online for failing to snag the tycoon and then immediately turning her attention to another young master of the Si family. "Scheming woman" and "gold digger" officially became her new labels.
Wan Yu laughed until her sides ached. "Fantastic! That’s so satisfying." She had been wrongfully accused and imprisoned because of Jiang Qimeng. That woman had also caused her best friend, Jian Xi, to have a massive falling out with Si Yuhuan. They were still estranged and had even filed for divorce. Thinking of all this, Wan Yu’s hatred for Jiang Qimeng was bone-deep. Now, seizing this opportunity, she had struck a precise blow, dragging Jiang Qimeng’s reputation through the mud. Still dreaming of being the tycoon’s wife? Dream on!
