Rebirth: Divorcing the Billionaire
Chapter 140: Spare Me and Spare Yourself
CHAPTER 140: CHAPTER 140: SPARE ME AND SPARE YOURSELF
"But you shouldn’t joke about Haohan Group! You know it’s the lifeblood of generations of the Si Family! How you have disappointed me!"
Si Yuhuan’s eyes brimmed with intense severity.
Jian Xi, full of grievances, could only swallow her pride.
"When have you ever given me any hope!"
"Si Yuhuan, I have my pride as the eldest daughter of the Jian family. I never intended to compete with Jiang Qimeng for a man!"
"I fell in love with you before she was in the picture!"
"Have you forgotten how you humiliated and tortured me just to please her?"
Jian Xi stepped closer to Si Yuhuan, jabbing her slender finger viciously into his chest.
"Getting married wasn’t my sole idea; it was Grandpa who said I was fit to be Mrs. Si, that marrying you was his wish."
Back then, she brought the entire Jian Group as her dowry, aiding the faltering Haohan Group.
From start to finish, Si Yuhuan never remembered any of her good deeds.
Thinking about her foolishness these past few days, Jian Xi wished she could kill her pathetic self.
Wasn’t dying once enough!
Her eyes reddened as she laughed bitterly.
"You’re the one who killed the Jian Xi who was overjoyed to marry you. Standing in front of you now is a Jian Xi who doesn’t love you, who hates you, who desperately wants you to disappear from my sight forever!"
Si Yuhuan’s pupils shook as he stared unblinkingly at Jian Xi, seemingly unable to believe the woman going mad before him.
Upstairs, Wan Yu stomped her feet in urgency. Jian Xi had truly lost her mind.
She dared to speak to Si Yuhuan like that, without fear of him going crazy.
As she hesitated whether to rush downstairs, she heard Jian Xi say,
"Si Yuhuan, our divorce was inevitable. Let’s make it quick; it’s more convenient for you, and I’ll feel better too. The time I spent with you has been the darkest period of my life. If I could do it all over again, I would wish I had never known you."
"I’m really tired."
Her voice was very soft, soft as a feather, with not a hint of emotion.
This suddenly made Wan Yu upstairs think that there’s no greater pain than a heart that has died.
Si Yuhuan clenched his fists tighter, masked the complex emotions in his eyes, then lowered his proud head and took out a pen to sign his name on the document.
He pressed down hard with every letter he wrote.
"There, as you wished."
The beginning and the end, both dictated by her.
Si Yuhuan felt his heart crack open an inch.
Once upon a time, Jian Xi was the person he hated most. Seeing her reminded Si Yuhuan of his bitter past. The Haohan Group had reached its current state through his ludicrous marriage, a fact he found laughable. The great billionaire owed his revival to a woman. He promised Jiang Qimeng, his lifesaver, that he would marry her, but he hadn’t followed through. All of this made him loathe Jian Xi. Yet, after spending time with her, he hadn’t realized when he had fallen in love. He had wanted to disregard everything to keep her firmly in his grasp, only to find she desperately wanted to escape.
After throwing down the divorce agreement, Si Yuhuan left with all his bodyguards in tow, as majestic as ever.
His proud silhouette, just like in the past.
Jian Xi took a step back. Her stomach pained a little. Perhaps even the babies felt their father’s departure.
This time, her divorce was real. It really was goodbye to the man she had loved for eight years.
Memories of the past whirled in her mind, dizzying her.
"Xixi," Wan Yu rushed over to support her.
Jian Xi cracked a bright smile toward her. "I’m finally divorced. It feels so good."
Wan Yu cried a flood of tears. How foolish she was to do such a thing. If it weren’t for her futile attempt to teach someone a lesson, how could Jian Xi be forced to divorce in such a manner? She would never forgive herself for being so foolish in this lifetime.
Jian Xi wiped away her tears.
"Don’t cry, this may not have anything to do with you."
"Huh?" Wan Yu was stunned.
Jian Xi spoke slowly, "The public opinion has started, but it wouldn’t threaten Haohan Group unless someone is fanning the flames, aiming at Si Yuhuan."
"I didn’t. Even if you gave me ten times the courage, I wouldn’t dare go against Si Yuhuan. I just wanted to teach that cheap woman Jiang Qimeng a lesson."
Wan Yu suddenly realized. "You mean, someone used me to target Haohan Group and Si Yuhuan? And even forced you to get a divorce..."
She was bewildered.
Jian Xi nodded. "That seems to be the case."
She only thought of these possibilities after Si Yuhuan had left. However, it was all no longer important.
She touched her belly. "I need to take over Haohan Group as soon as possible. I can’t give Si Yuhuan any chance to fight back; otherwise, with his temperament, he will fight me for the custody of the children."
"So badass!"
Wan Yu was thoroughly impressed. When did my love-struck sister become so cunning and far-sighted! Planning ten steps ahead and even considering the custody of the children after birth—impressive, indeed.
「Later that day.」
The sky started to drizzle, bringing Beijing’s winter to its lowest temperature. The piercing cold wind swept through. Yan Qing, leaning against the Phantom, shivered. He quickly stepped forward with an umbrella as he saw the dispirited CEO emerging from the building.
Si Yuhuan pushed him away, letting the rain pour down on himself.
He looked up into the rainy night, his dark eyes holding obscure emotions, wrapped in silent pain.
After a while, he strode with long legs, briskly opened the rear door of the car, and stepped in.
He commanded coldly, "Drive."
The driver immediately started the car and drove out of the upscale Louwang district.
Yan Qing couldn’t help but sigh and glanced back toward Fuyuan Official Residence. It still came to this step in the end. He could feel that the boss was in an unprecedentedly bad mood. Jiang Qimeng would probably be very happy about this.
「Meanwhile.」
Indeed, Jiang Qimeng was thrilled when she heard the news. If she wasn’t wrapped up like a mummy, she would have jumped for joy.
That phone rang again.
After answering, she curled her red lips. "Well done."
"You played your part well too!" the other party complimented.
Eager to prevent her actions today from being discovered, Jiang Qimeng suggested they cease future contact. She then demanded one billion from the other party.
"Are you dreaming?" A man’s low, cold laughter came through the phone. "So you’re thinking of abandoning us now that we’ve served our purpose?"
"I’m just taking what I need. You said once I secured Si Junyan’s shares, you would give me the promised reward!"
She wanted the man and the money!
Jiang Qimeng lifted her chin. "Don’t think I don’t know about the little moves you’ve been making recently. If I tell them that Luo You is about to be poached by you, I wonder what Si Yuhuan will do!"
"You wouldn’t dare!" The other party’s tone was unfriendly. "Jiang Qimeng, don’t forget what you’ve done. If you insist, we can drag each other down."
Clamping her teeth, Jiang Qimeng had made sure to clear herself of any ties to the matter, but she wasn’t confident that the other party was entirely without leverage.
Forcing a smile, she said, "Don’t be so heartless. Let’s part on good terms. How about this: I help you one more time, and after it’s done, you transfer one billion to my designated account. How about that?"
"Go on."
