Rebirth: Divorcing the Billionaire
Chapter 160 - 158 I’m Serious About Wanting to Marry You
CHAPTER 160: CHAPTER 158 I’M SERIOUS ABOUT WANTING TO MARRY YOU
Jian Xi bit into her own arm, biting down hard, and blood flowed out.
"Jian Xi, what are you doing?" Zhou Yan’s anxiety was so intense his eyes were bloodshot, looking as if they might split.
Gasping, Jian Xi weakly pushed Zhou Yan away.
Now, all males look bewilderingly charming to me.
I can’t just sink into this!
I will not give in to Jiang Qimeng’s wishes.
Her strong willpower made her stumble into the bathroom.
BANG!
She slammed the door shut.
No matter how Zhou Yan called to her from outside, she kept the door tightly closed.
The cold water hit her body, repelling wave after wave of heat. Jian Xi clenched her fists tightly, determined to endure it all. Blood, from wounds she couldn’t identify, mixed with the water and dripped down her body. The bloodstains spreading everywhere were a shocking sight.
"Jian Xi, I’m begging you, please stop torturing yourself, okay?" Zhou Yan was so anxious he wanted to kick the door in.
Jian Xi gritted her teeth tightly. "Zhou Yan, leave! Get away from me!"
She growled low, like a shamed little animal.
"If you don’t leave, I’ll only get hurt more. I’m begging you."
Zhou Yan was heartbroken. "Alright, alright, I’ll leave now."
Even if she resorts to self-harm, she won’t be with me...
Wounded, Zhou Yan retreated, looking back at the bathroom with every few steps.
The incessant ringing of a phone sounded like a demonic chant. Jian Xi glared at the phone bitterly and threw it straight into the sink.
He was nowhere to be found when I needed help, so there’s no need to contact him ever again.
Si Yuhuan made countless calls.
There was no response.
Further calls were met with: "The number you have dialed is switched off or not in the service area."
"Damn it!" Si Yuhuan clenched his phone, seething with anger.
Yan Qing was confused. "Director Si, Madam—I mean, Miss Jian, she didn’t answer your call?"
Si Yuhuan had accidentally put his phone on airplane mode earlier, and then the battery died. After finally finding a place to charge it and turning it back on, he had been calling non-stop.
I seriously suspect our boss has been blocked, Yan Qing thought.
Si Yuhuan’s expression was extremely grim. He looked up and saw Chu Xiao walking on the runway, which made him furrow his brows. "When did he go up?"
Yan Qing was also puzzled. "Indeed, Young Master Chu isn’t on the list. It seems he was added at the last minute. Oh, right! Young Master Zhou should be on the runway now!"
"Where is he?"
Yan Qing was bewildered. How would I know?!
Si Yuhuan stood up and headed straight backstage.
The lounge was empty, eerily quiet.
Si Yuhuan furrowed his brows and walked in, step by step.
The floor was a mess; clearly, there had been a struggle or a fight.
Si Yuhuan’s heart clenched, and he quickened his pace, walking further inside.
He pushed open the door to an inner room. It was empty, but the smell of blood lingered in the air.
"Jian Xi?" Si Yuhuan couldn’t suppress the fearful tremor in his heart.
Just as he was about to rush in, the bathroom door opened.
Zhou Yan emerged, his clothes disheveled and stained with blood. "Well, Director Si, fancy seeing you here in the backstage lounge."
Si Yuhuan glanced at the blood on Zhou Yan and sneered, "Hmph!"
Since it wasn’t Jian Xi who was in trouble, he couldn’t be bothered to ask further and turned to leave.
Yan Qing, seeing his boss emerge so quickly, hurried to meet him. "Miss Jian..."
"She’s not here."
Yan Qing peeked past him and glanced at Zhou Yan, who was covered in blood. He asked in astonishment, "Should we call a doctor for Young Master Zhou?"
"Have you forgotten whose assistant you are?"
Hah! What a petty boss! Yan Qing forced a smile. "Yours, Director Si."
I wouldn’t dare meddle any further.
Zhou Yan turned his head to look at Jian Xi; she had already fainted in the tub of cold water.
With overwhelming tenderness, he lifted her out. Taking advantage of the deserted back door, he quietly drove Jian Xi to the hospital.
The doctor reproached him, "Young people may want to play around, but you can’t neglect your health like this! She’s pregnant! Don’t you know that such a potent drug could cause a miscarriage?"
"Pregnant?" Zhou Yan froze, dazed and unsure how to react.
Once he regained his composure, he earnestly pleaded with the doctor, "No matter what, you must save her and the baby."
With a resigned expression, the doctor wheeled Jian Xi into the emergency room for an examination.
When Jian Xi woke up again, it was already dawn.
The moment she moved her fingers slightly, Zhou Yan, his eyes red, immediately stood up and approached her. "How do you feel? Are you in any discomfort?"
Jian Xi’s eyes welled with tears, a sense of grievance washing over her. "The babies?" she asked, her voice trembling as she cautiously stroked her belly.
"Rest assured, the babies are healthy. Congratulations, you’re carrying twins," he said, a bitter taste in his mouth.
Jian Xi smiled and let out a sigh of relief. "That’s good."
I thought these little ones were doomed. The surging hatred I felt gradually receded. Now that I’m going to be a mother, the children come first. Everything else can wait.
Zhou Yan could sense how much Jian Xi cared for these twins. His own heart was a maelstrom of emotions. He couldn’t help but ask, "Are they Si Yuhuan’s?"
Jian Xi’s hand, caressing her belly, paused for a fraction of a second. "Mm."
There’s no need for me to hide it.
Zhou Yan was momentarily astonished. Though he had known in his heart that the children must be Si Yuhuan’s, hearing her confirm it still made him emotional.
"After all he’s done to you, you still..."
"Zhou Yan," Jian Xi interrupted, "thank you so much for saving me. I owe you a great debt of gratitude, and I will find an opportunity to repay you."
Her words immediately created a distance between them.
This deliberate distancing aggrieved Zhou Yan. "Senior, do you realize what you’ll face if you divorce him while carrying two children—especially children of a man like Si Yuhuan?"
Si Yuhuan had immense influence and connections. A prominent family like his would never allow their bloodline to remain outside their control. Once it was discovered that the children Jian Xi bore were his, they would undoubtedly stop at nothing to take them away.
I’ve considered all of this long ago, Jian Xi thought.
Yet, hearing it spoken aloud still made her heart clench with anxiety.
Zhou Yan looked at her with compassion. "Senior, marry me. Even if only for my father’s sake, Si Yuhuan wouldn’t dare act rashly. Raising children is incredibly hard. With me by your side, things would be much easier for you."
Jian Xi was speechless. She stared intently at Zhou Yan for a long moment before finally uttering three words: "Are you crazy?"
"Senior, I’m serious." Zhou Yan knelt on one knee. "I like you; I’ve always liked you. Since our school days, I’ve had this budding affection for you. Seeing you again, witnessing your resilience, your charm, and recognizing your capabilities, made me fall for you even harder. I swear, I’ve never been so moved by any woman before. If you’re willing to marry me, I’ll give you everything I have."
"I’m pregnant," Jian Xi reminded him, as if afraid he’d forgotten.
Zhou Yan nodded. "I know. And I’m willing to be their father. From now on, I’ll share all burdens with you and raise them to adulthood together."
It had to be said, Zhou Yan’s sincerity and earnestness were truly moving.
Jian Xi pursed her lips. "I’m sorry, I can’t accept."
"Then, when Si Yuhuan fights you for the children," Zhou Yan stated calmly, "you will undoubtedly lose."
