CHAPTER 168: CHAPTER 166 I WANT HER DEAD

Just as she was about to rise and defend herself, a pair of fiery red high heels appeared before her. Slender, fair legs led up to Jian Xi’s charmingly graceful face. She smiled and waved at Jiang Qimeng. "Miss Jiang, we meet again so soon?"

Jiang Qimeng growled, "Jian Xi, did you do this on purpose to see me make a fool of myself?"

"I can’t be bothered with you."

Jian Xi rolled her eyes. If it hadn’t been for Grandpa’s call, repeatedly asking to see her and celebrate her birthday, she truly wouldn’t have deigned to step one foot into the Si Family’s house, or even glance at Si Yuhuan.

Just as she was about to enter, Jiang Qimeng lunged forward, grabbing her wrist. "If I can’t go in, you’re not allowed to either."

"Jiang Qimeng, have you lost your mind?" Jian Xi glanced at the hand gripping her.

Jiang Qimeng lifted her chin. "Anyway, you have no proof, so you can’t do anything to me. Remember this, Jian Xi: as long as I’m here, don’t even think about seducing Yuhan or remarrying him—you don’t stand a chance."

SLAP!

Jian Xi slapped her across the face.

"You dare hit me here?"

"Do I need to pick a special day to hit you?" Jian Xi sneered. The surrounding servants were stunned into silence.

The Young Mistress is so cool!

Jian Xi then called out to those inside the gate, "Are you all blind? Don’t you see the trash at the door? Clean it up."

A bodyguard came out and began dragging Jiang Qimeng away, intending to throw her even further. Only then did Jiang Qimeng realize Jian Xi was calling her trash!

"Jian Xi, don’t get smug just because Old Master Si favors you! Sooner or later, I’ll make you regret this deeply!"

Ignoring her, Jian Xi strode into the house.

Housekeeper Qi personally came to greet her, speaking respectfully. "The Young Master might have fallen ill from giving too much blood. He’s been in bed all day. Would you like to see Old Master Si first, or would you prefer to visit..."

"I’m here to see Grandpa."

Jian Xi went straight in and, upon seeing Old Master Si, offered a faint smile. "Grandpa, I’m here. How are you feeling?"

She carried a food container. "Mom asked me to bring you this tonic soup. She said it’s very nourishing."

"Oh my, your mother is so thoughtful."

Jian Xi smiled but didn’t mention that she and Si Yuhuan were already divorced.

While food was being served, Old Master Si hinted to Jian Xi several times, "Yuhan is sick. No one knows how he just collapsed."

He clearly wants me to visit Si Yuhuan. Jian Xi thought.

Jian Xi pretended not to understand. "Grandpa, after seeing you, I need to get back to the company. We have an exhibition coming up, and I’m very busy."

"Is that so..." Old Master Si sounded disappointed but still spoke cheerfully. "Alright, alright, you’re busy. If you encounter any trouble, just go to Yuhan. He’s your husband; don’t hesitate to rely on him."

After watching Jian Xi leave, he turned to glance at Housekeeper Qi.

"Do you think it’s true, what they’re saying online? That Yuhan and Xixi have actually divorced?"

Housekeeper Qi, though harboring doubts, dared not voice them. "Probably not."

"Sigh, it’s truly worrying. I’m going to check on that brat."

Looking up, Old Master Si saw Si Yuhuan in a bathrobe, looking haggard, with messy hair, standing at the top of the stairs.

Si Yuhuan had seen it with his own eyes: Jian Xi had spent time with Grandpa and then left without even glancing his way.

This sense of loss... It really irks me. She genuinely doesn’t care about me anymore!

"Yuhan, you’re down! Xixi just visited. She said she was busy with work, which is why she didn’t come up to see you..."

Old Master Si resisted the urge to ask what exactly was going on between the two of them.

Si Yuhuan responded with a cold "hmph," came downstairs to pour a glass of water, then turned and went back up.

His staggering gait seemed even more unsteady.

Old Master Si glanced at Housekeeper Qi, who could only offer a helpless, bitter smile.

"There’s definitely something wrong with those two," Old Master Si muttered.

Jian Xi was about to get into her car. Just as her hand touched the door handle, another hand shot out and slammed against her car door.

"Jian Xi, using Grandpa to try and make Yuhan take you back—don’t you find such actions despicable?"

Jiang Qimeng glared at her furiously, as if she wanted to eat her alive.

Jian Xi couldn’t help but laugh. She retorted forcefully, "With which eye did you see me using Grandpa to try and remarry Si Yuhuan?"

Jiang Qimeng frowned. "Aren’t you..."

Her gaze fell to Jian Xi’s stomach.

"Don’t worry. As long as you don’t say anything and I don’t say anything, Si Yuhuan and Grandpa will never know about my pregnancy. However, you’ve provoked me repeatedly, always looking for trouble. It makes me wonder if I should tell Si Yuhuan. What do you think? If he knew he already had a child, would he beg me to remarry him?"

Jiang Qimeng tensed immediately. "No, he wouldn’t! He loves me! He won’t acknowledge any child you bear."

Jian Xi knew she was telling the truth. But knowing something and hearing it aloud are two different things.

Anger instantly flared in her heart. "Oh? In that case, I’ll just have to put it to the test."

"Jian Xi, I’m giving you a chance to live. Don’t push me."

Jian Xi raised an eyebrow. "Oh? So, you didn’t just plan to have someone sleep with me, you also want to kill me?"

"Do you really think I wouldn’t dare?" A cold light glinted in Jiang Qimeng’s eyes.

Jian Xi feigned fear. "Fine, you’re ruthless. I promise, I’ll stay away from Si Yuhuan. But if he insists on approaching me, there’s nothing I can do about it."

"Hmph. So you do know what’s good for you."

Jian Xi pulled open the car door, got in, and, smiling, waved at Jiang Qimeng before driving off into the street.

Jian Xi is acting a bit too meek right now, Jiang Qimeng thought. The way she was baring her claws a few days ago really gave me the wrong idea. Then again, a loser like her can’t change that much. It must just be a bluff. But those two little brats are definitely a problem. I absolutely cannot let her give birth to them.

Jiang Qimeng immediately took out her phone and dialed a number.

The person on the other end sneered. "Miss Jiang finally remembers me."

"Cut the sarcasm. I’ve already done what I was supposed to do for you."

"You’ve also done things you shouldn’t have. Don’t think I’m unaware of what you did behind my back. Trying to find someone to rape Jian Xi, force her to abort her children, take nude photos to control her, and thereby control the Jian Family—quite the scheme you hatched. If it hadn’t failed, would you have even remembered me? You ungrateful wretch!"

Every time she talked to this person, Jiang Qimeng felt a chill crawl down her spine, as if a venomous snake were coiling around her, ready to strike and scheme her to death at any moment.

She laughed with an affected sweetness. "Every man for himself, and the devil take the hindmost. You’ve done plenty of scheming behind my back too. We’re cut from the same cloth. Once we tear down the pretense, things get boring, don’t they?"

They both understood the unspoken implications.

"So, what do you want?" the voice on the phone asked.

"I want Jian Xi dead!" Jiang Qimeng said venomously.

"That won’t be easy."

"Name your price. Whatever conditions you have, feel free to state them."

The other party chuckled. "Easy enough!"

A bloodthirsty, excited glint flashed in Jiang Qimeng’s eyes. Only if Jian Xi were utterly dead would she feel at ease. That talk of letting her go? Just a temporary appeasement. She wants her dead! Dead people pose no competition!

「...」

It was true that Jian Xi had official business to attend to, but she didn’t head back to Yaowang. Instead, she went straight to Tianyao Group.

I need to find a chance to probe Haohan Group, our arch-nemesis, and figure out their true capabilities! I can’t let Luo You, that tech whiz, jump ship to them. Haohan Group will be mine in the future; I absolutely can’t afford any losses!
