Rebirth: Divorcing the Billionaire
Chapter 388 - 386 Si Yuhuan is Targeted
CHAPTER 388: CHAPTER 386 SI YUHUAN IS TARGETED
Si Yuhuan was targeted.
Jian Xi thought he would angrily slam the door and leave.
Unexpectedly, he slowly sipped his coffee. "It’s not like old feelings are unresolved, but other men better not even think about touching my woman. Does Mr. Zhang have no memory? I’ve warned you!"
"What does Director Si want?" Hilda couldn’t help but clench his fists, his tall frame tensing. His blue eyes, like glass beads, shot out flames of anger, and the sexy chest hair exposed by his unbuttoned shirt formed a masculine arc bursting with hormones against his heaving chest.
His protectiveness towards Zhang Yaxuan made the atmosphere even more bizarre.
Jian Xi had no choice but to give Zhang Yaxuan a look. He coughed. "Director Si, if you want to snatch someone away, that’s fine. Fair competition is all we need. But Xixi and I are planning to get our marriage certificate right after the art exhibition. Before then, you’ll have to step up your game."
"That’s right, we’re about to get our certificate. Director Si, it’s best you don’t say such laughable things! I am a person, not an object. Who I want to marry and who I want to be with is my personal freedom and none of your concern."
Jian Xi continued coldly, her delicate face composed, following up on Zhang Yaxuan’s statement.
"I never expected to reveal this news today in such a way, especially since I’ve been ready to share it for a while. But this is good too! Invitations will be sent to both your companies in due course. Whether you attend or not is up to you."
BANG!
Si Yuhuan slapped the table, his handsome face as cold as ice.
Jian Xi ignored him. "The child is already here; getting married is just a matter of time."
She was telling Si Yuhuan that no matter what, they would get married; he should just give up.
Si Yuhuan’s eyes bored into Jian Xi. Then he sneered and left.
Watching his retreating figure, Jian Xi inexplicably let out a breath.
Did I manage to stay strong once again?
However, the announcement of the marriage... was indeed a bit... sudden.
The smile vanished from Fu Shengyuan’s face. "I really didn’t expect you’d make such a decision in the end."
His gaze shifted between Hilda and Zhang Yaxuan. "If this is truly your decision, then I wish you happiness."
Fu Shengyuan stood up, straightened his suit, and nodded with innate, gracious elegance, then left.
The private room was suddenly left with only Jian Xi, Hilda, and Zhang Yaxuan.
"Was I too impulsive just now? Did I cause you trouble, Yaxuan?" Hilda was a bit downhearted. He had been truly fearful that Si Yuhuan would lay a hand on Zhang Yaxuan, so he had gotten agitated out of necessity.
To some extent, Jian Xi was quite envious.
Hilda was really good to Zhang Yaxuan.
"It’s okay, you did nothing wrong. Si Yuhuan was indeed a bit excessive," Zhang Yaxuan said, looking at Jian Xi with a hint of concern. "You must never reconcile with someone like him. He won’t stop until he achieves his goal, and with his high position, he’s not someone you can contend with."
Jian Xi nodded. "It’s just that it’s unfair to you."
"What’s the big deal? As partners, we don’t talk about owing each other anything." Zhang Yaxuan smiled generously, alleviating much of the guilt in Jian Xi’s heart.
"I’ll have Hilda return to Saint Seymour first. I hope no more trouble arises before we get our certificate."
"It shouldn’t. Si Yuhuan is a proud man. Hearing that we’re about to get our certificate, he’ll probably feel a psychological barrier and won’t want to see me again."
Jian Xi was surprised at how well she still knew him.
It was Fu Shengyuan she was most uneasy about.
She didn’t know where this unease came from. She always felt that Fu Shengyuan was not the type to give without expecting something in return.
The meal ended with her stomach aching.
Jian Xi chose to return to the Jian Family Old House.
Without seeing Qianqian, her heart felt uneasy.
The little one was getting healthier. Her chubby little hands and face were even softer than cotton candy. Jian Xi felt a bit perverse for loving to bury her face in the baby’s tiny belly, sniffing the milky scent on her skin.
It smelled so nice!
It was especially calming.
Her previously heart-wrenching and anxious emotions were soothed.
Jian’s Mother and Father Jian called her to dinner.
"I don’t want to eat. My stomach feels uncomfortable."
She was indeed feeling awful.
These past few days, she had once again lost her appetite. Her figure had slimmed down significantly.
Father Jian looked on with heartache. "The company is so busy. I should go back and help out. That way, you can make time to bring Mingming back home."
Instantly, tears welled up in Jian Xi’s eyes.
She too wanted to bring Mingming back home, but Mingming and her fourth brother were being controlled.
She couldn’t find them at all!
Was she left with no other choice now but to grovel before Si Yuhuan, to act like a fawning sycophant, begging him for help?
Fortunately, Hilda had said he would help. Before leaving, he had found Xinxin’s address for her. This brought Jian Xi a bit of relief; otherwise, she would have been utterly overwhelmed.
"What’s with the crying all of a sudden? Did I say something wrong?"
Jian’s Mother began to complain to Father Jian, "Look at you! If you can’t speak nicely, then speak less. Our daughter is under a lot of pressure already. And you know, these days, new mothers can get postpartum depression. If you cause her any trouble, I’ll have a bone to pick with you."
Father Jian quickly begged for forgiveness, repeatedly saying, "Daughter, don’t be mad, I realize my mistake," and "Wife, I was wrong," apologizing profusely left and right.
Unable to help it, Jian Xi started laughing through her tears.
"Ah, there, that’s right! My daughter looks most beautiful when she smiles." Father Jian had no idea what was actually going on with Jian Xi, but he kept trying to make her laugh anyway.
The warmth of this moment could dispel all the coldness.
Jian Xi was grateful she still had the chance to be with her parents. Given another shot at life by the heavens, she was determined to cherish it and love her family.
Home was her haven, the place she could rest after rushing about and enduring many hardships.
"Mom and Dad, I’ll bring Mingming back home soon."
She planned to hug her daughter for a while longer before resting.
Feeling dizzy and lightheaded, she seemed to have developed a fever.
"Your face doesn’t look right. Do you have a cold?"
After checking Jian Xi’s temperature, Jian’s Mother exclaimed, "Xixi, you have a high fever of thirty-nine degrees! Quick, let’s go to the hospital!"
Jian Xi was scooped up.
"Oh my, Jian, look at what’s appeared on our daughter’s body!"
After a careful inspection with his reading glasses, Father Jian was terrified. "This looks like an allergic reaction! We need to get her to the hospital, fast!"
Jian Xi was having difficulty breathing.
She didn’t have any food restrictions; how could she be having an allergic reaction!
「At the hospital.」
After examining her, the doctor looked deeply worried. "If you had come any later, she could have lost her life."
Jian Xi was terrified. She was grateful she hadn’t just settled for staying in some hotel; the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Jian’s Mother, her face stern, went to handle the admission procedures.
Jian Xi struggled. "Mom, an anti-allergenic injection should do."
She absolutely couldn’t be admitted to the hospital! At such a critical juncture in finding her child, if she were hospitalized, wouldn’t all her efforts be for naught?
Thinking of her recent confrontational and sarcastic remarks towards Si Yuhuan at the dinner table, she knew he must have held a grudge.
To go and ask him for help now...
Jian Xi could already imagine her self-respect being ground into the dust by him, sparks flying as if from flint.
"You listen to me! Your life is the most important thing," her mother insisted, leaving Jian Xi no room to resist.
After receiving an anti-allergenic injection, Jian Xi’s high fever and breathing difficulties gradually subsided. However, the small welts on her body still looked somewhat terrifying.
