Rebirth: Divorcing the Billionaire
Chapter 47 Proactive Kiss
CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47 PROACTIVE KISS
Grandpa visited Jian Xi himself and instructed her to get plenty of rest.
Shortly thereafter, Jian Mingcheng came in. "Don’t worry," he said, "if you’re not satisfied with this punishment, your brothers and parents definitely won’t..."
Jian Xi couldn’t help but laugh. "Bro! Do I look that unreasonable?"
"Unreasonable? Si Junyan went too far!"
Jian Mingcheng clenched his fists tightly. "He deserves to die for daring to hurt you! If your fifth brother were here..."
"If Fifth Brother were here, Si Junyan would be dead."
Given Jian Yanjun’s temperament, Si Junyan would have been lucky to escape the underground garage in one piece.
Jian Xi got up and clung to her eldest brother’s arm, nestling against him coquettishly. "Don’t think I didn’t see you beat Si Junyan to a pulp, Big Brother. A gentleman like you shouldn’t lower yourself to fighting with those kinds of lowlifes."
Just a moment ago, Si Junyan had been lying on the ground, barely breathing, his entire body covered in injuries. Jian Xi couldn’t help but twitch the corners of her mouth; it was hard to imagine her gentle brother becoming so terrifying when enraged.
She was so fortunate to have her big brother protecting her.
"Silly girl, if he dared to touch you, I had to beat him. How else could I face Mom and Dad?"
"We can’t let Mom and Dad know about this."
Jian Mingcheng sighed. "You’ve grown up. You know not to make Mom and Dad worry now."
Jian Xi lifted her clear, limpid eyes. She wanted to say that from the moment she had died and come back, she had already grown up, becoming more mature than anyone else. But she couldn’t bring herself to voice it.
"Don’t worry, Big Brother, your sister isn’t that foolish. Go back now. Just tell Mom and Dad I’ve moved back to the old family house."
After seeing her eldest brother off, Jian Xi lay in bed, her mind replaying the scene in the garage.
Si Junyan, that damn bastard. She wouldn’t let him off so easily.
Perhaps due to the shock and exhaustion, she unknowingly fell asleep.
「In the middle of the night.」
Jian Xi had a nightmare. In it, Jiang Qimeng was trying to kill her, with Si Junyan as her accomplice. They put a bag over her head, intending to drown her in the sea.
The repeated taunts of "You deserve to die! Si Yuhuan loves me! What right do you have to reappear?" shocked Jian Xi awake, her eyes flying open.
"Had a nightmare?" Si Yuhuan’s hoarse voice came from across the hospital bed; she didn’t know when he’d arrived.
It was a dream! Not reality!
Jian Xi hurriedly sat up.
He came over and pressed down on her shoulders. "Lie down. Don’t move."
Passing her a glass of juice, he said, "Freshly squeezed."
He actually knew she liked freshly squeezed juice. Jian Xi shot him a look as if she’d seen a ghost, then scrutinized the glass of juice.
"Relax, I haven’t poisoned it." Her suspicious expression truly infuriated Si Yuhuan.
"Instead of coddling your precious ’white moonlight,’ you deign to visit me? Director Si, you certainly have a lot of leisure and refined taste," Jian Xi said, gulping down the watermelon juice. She felt her uneasy heart gradually settle.
A dream is just a dream; it won’t become reality. What happened today—she would only allow it to happen once. There would absolutely not be a next time.
A trace of guilt flickered across Si Yuhuan’s handsome face. He rarely showed concern, but asked, "Are you in any pain now?"
"No." Jian Xi went to put the glass down, but stretched her arm and winced, sucking in a sharp breath.
Si Yuhuan went over and lifted her hospital gown.
A striking, dark bruise underneath made his brow furrow and his pupils contract slightly.
"Si Junyan did this?"
Jian Xi nodded coldly. During their struggle, Si Junyan had struck with lethal intent; he had genuinely intended to kill her.
"I will get justice for you and give you a proper accounting," Si Yuhuan said, his voice tight with suppressed anger.
Jian Xi looked up at him.
Wan Yu’s words, "Don’t tell me Si Yuhuan is actually falling for you?" kept replaying and amplifying in her mind.
Him, liking her? Really? This was something she had desperately longed for but could never attain in her previous life.
Jian Xi! Calm down! Don’t let a little kindness sway you and make you forget everything you’ve been through.
"Si Yuhuan, if the person who wanted to harm me wasn’t Si Junyan, but Jiang Qimeng... would you still get justice for me?"
Her eyes, burning fiercely, fixed on him, awaiting his answer.
But Si Yuhuan’s silence instantly deflated her.
How ridiculous. Just a moment ago, she’d thought he might be falling for her, but it was all her own wishful thinking. Just as Jian Xi started to climb back into bed, Si Yuhuan grasped her wrist tightly and said forcefully, "Qimeng wouldn’t make things difficult for you. Don’t always treat her as an enemy. The watermelon juice you just drank? She personally juiced it for you as an apology."
BLEH!
The very next second, Jian Xi threw up.
"Jian Xi!" Si Yuhuan roared, his voice low and seething with restrained anger. "How dare she vomit on me! Does this woman have any sense of dignity or ladylike grace?"
Jian Xi couldn’t stop retching.
Si Yuhuan couldn’t help but worry. "You’re not suffering from any aftereffects, are you?"
He went out to call a doctor.
Jian Xi cursed inwardly, Aftereffects, my foot! I’m just utterly disgusted by anything related to Jiang Qimeng.
The doctor rushed in, only to be sent away by Jian Xi.
Si Yuhuan stood at the door, his eyebrows knitted and arms crossed. "What exactly is your problem?"
"My problem is that I want you to get out! Take your ’white moonlight’ and stay far away from me!"
He wasn’t here out of guilt to take care of her; he was just here to annoy her!
Jian Xi drank several glasses of water before the nausea subsided. Now, the very sight of Si Yuhuan infuriated her; she wanted to punch him.
Does this man lose all common sense whenever Jiang Qimeng is involved?
Jian Xi glared at him fiercely and threw a pillow at him.
The movement pulled at her injured arm, and she winced, her small face scrunching up in pain again.
Si Yuhuan strode over and grabbed her hand, chiding, "Don’t move around!"
Then he tucked the pillow under her head. "If you don’t like the apology gift Qimeng prepared, I won’t bring anything from her in the future."
"Si Yuhuan, are you deliberately trying to make me miserable?" Jian Xi gritted her teeth in anger. "How about this: one day, I’ll find a few handsome young men who have... designs on *me*, and bring them home. I’ll have them cook for you, clean the house, and chauffeur you to and from work as a way to ’appease’ you. How about that, huh?"
"You dare!"
As Si Yuhuan envisioned the scene Jian Xi described, flames of fury ignited in his eyes.
"Why wouldn’t I dare? You can make that scheming Jiang Qimeng apologize to me, so why can’t I find some younger men to wait on you! MMMPH—!"
Si Yuhuan, not knowing how else to silence her infuriating mouth, leaned in and kissed her.
Jian Xi, enraged, bit down hard.
The metallic taste of blood spread in their mouths.
They struggled against each other; it wasn’t a kiss, it was clearly a wild fight.
Suddenly, the door was pulled open.
Jiang Qimeng stood at the entrance, completely frozen.
Si Yuhuan heard the sound and, regaining his senses, tried to push Jian Xi away. But Jian Xi, catching sight of Jiang Qimeng out of the corner of her eye, forcefully wrapped her arms around Si Yuhuan’s head and kissed him hard.
Her passion, so rarely seen, was like fire. Si Yuhuan kissed her back dominantly, and in a brief pause, couldn’t resist snapping coldly at the door, "Get out!"
The shocked anger on Jiang Qimeng’s face crumbled bit by bit, then completely shattered. Tears streamed uncontrollably from her eyes, and she turned and ran out, crying.
Hearing Jiang Qimeng’s voice, Si Yuhuan’s eyes widened in shock. He pushed Jian Xi away and chased after her.
Jian Xi smiled.
She hadn’t expected such an unexpected windfall.
