Chapter 599 - 597: A Classic Romance Scenario
CHAPTER 599: CHAPTER 597: A CLASSIC ROMANCE SCENARIO
Besides that tiny invincible computer, Wan Chu’er also picked a monitor.
This monitor had a peculiar design; it was shaped like a small blue flower the size of a thumb, yet its features were incredibly powerful. It could record video, eavesdrop, and came with built-in wireless connectivity. Within a 10-kilometer range, it could connect to a computer to quietly monitor the surroundings or directly connect to wireless earphones for eavesdropping.
Wan Chu’er felt this would definitely be useful, so she reluctantly gave up the other items and chose this little blue flower.
"Crown Prince, may I select one more item?" Wan Chu’er extravagantly asked.
"To allow you to take any two items from here is already the utmost sincerity I can offer," the Crown Prince firmly denied.
Wan Chu’er did not persist, as had it been her, she wouldn’t even bear to let another person glance at them.
"Miss Wan, when you and my sister set off, I will then give these two items to you. After all, they’re too precious and must be handled with caution," the Crown Prince surprisingly added.
Wan Chu’er was flabbergasted, tightly grasping onto them unwilling to let go, "Are you afraid I’ll run off with the items? Do you think I’m that kind of dishonorable person?"
The Crown Prince laughed, "I have already booked your flight tickets, three days from now. Miss Wan can have these two items and board the airplane."
Wan Chu’er was no match for this cunning fox, especially on his turf. Despite feeling incredibly annoyed, there was nothing she could do but to ask him to keep them safe, ensuring they would be handed over in impeccable condition in three days.
"Understood, please keep this matter confidential, Miss Wan."
Wan Chu’er nodded, "I can keep the basement a secret, but regarding accompanying your sister to her ex-boyfriend’s wedding, I’ll definitely need to inform Jiang Kechu. It wouldn’t make sense for such a significant person to just disappear suddenly."
"Please do not reveal that person’s identity," the Crown Prince pondered and then requested.
"I can do that," Wan Chu’er readily agreed.
Then, the two of them exited from beneath the ground and returned to the teahouse on the second floor. This time in the teahouse, Wan Chu’er finally ran into Xiao Bai.
"Where have you been?"
"Where were you?"
Both asked each other simultaneously, Wan Chu’er huffed. Xiao Bai somewhat embarrassedly said, "The massage here was so remarkable, I actually fell asleep. I’ve just woken up."
Wan Chu’er and Xiao Bai exchanged looks, understanding each other’s expression, and then split up.
Their was a massage technique that deliberately targeted specific acupoints causing one to fall into a deep sleep; Xiao Bai must have fallen asleep this way intentionally, to allow the Crown Prince and Wan Chu’er to have a private conversation.
Wan Chu’er mockingly said, "You lazy pig, coming here to sleep, be careful or Xiaoxiao will have a fit with you. I just took a tour around this mansion with the Crown Prince, the stuff inside are all precious items, casually taking one out, it’s either used by the Emperor or specially crafted by a famous master, each one a historic antique."
After idly chatting and drinking two pots of tea, Wan Chu’er and Xiao Bai then bid farewell to the Crown Prince, leaving with blindfolded eyes, this time wearing a different eyemask.
"The next time, you won’t go through the ordeal again, and if you do, you can take whatever you want from this building," Crown Prince promised.
Wan Chu’er thought about the treasures in the basement, smacking her lips and said, "Actually, I wouldn’t mind going through it again. I wasn’t fully prepared before, but this time I can take on ten people at once and definitely defeat eight of them."
If she could get all the treasures in that room, she was willing to fight ten more battles.
Xiao Bai, naive and misunderstanding, thought Wan Chu’er was eyeing the antiques in the building and disdainfully said, "Look at you, if you want them, Second Brother will go and buy you some from around the world tomorrow."
Crown Prince couldn’t help but laugh, "These items have survived thousands of hardships to be preserved, even if you have the money, you can’t buy them."
"Oh, then never mind."
The car dropped them off at the Temple of Heaven before leaving. Back in their own car, Xiao Bai asked seriously:
"What did he talk to you about?"
Wan Chu’er nonchalantly replied, "He asked me for a favor, to accompany someone abroad for a stroll to clear their mind."
Since she promised the Crown Prince to keep it a secret, she couldn’t tell Xiao Bai everything and roughly explained.
Xiao Bai looked at her skeptically, "Is it dangerous? If so, don’t agree. If you’re too embarrassed to refuse, let Grandpa handle it."
Wan Chu’er smiled, "It’s actually fine, not that dangerous. Don’t delve too deep, I’ve promised not to tell anyone. Don’t worry, I know my limits."
As soon as she finished speaking, Xiao Bai knocked her on the head, "Keeping secrets from me? I’m just worried you might end up being sold out and even counting the money for them, you’re so foolish!"
Wan Chu’er grimaced, "You’re the foolish one!"
Despite further questioning, Wan Chu’er kept her lips tightly sealed, leaving Xiao Bai discouraged, "Fine, fine, go back and tell your Old Jiang, have him properly teach you."
Wan Chu’er laughed, "I will tell my Old Jiang, just in case I really get sold out, he’d better come to rescue me." This earned her an eye roll from Xiao Bai.
After returning home, with the younger kids still not back from kindergarten and Jiang Kechu at work, Wan Chu’er went over the day’s events.
The Crown Prince’s sister was indeed rarely heard of, one reason being she had been studying abroad for many years, and another being she rarely appeared in public—a deliberate protection by the Crown Prince’s family. That’s why he made such a brainless promise to keep his sister away from mafia figures and even went to great lengths to have her accompany someone.
All of today’s information came from the Crown Prince’s side, so she must be cautious about its authenticity, and not be easily deceived like last time when Kong Shiyuan took the letter entrusted by her grandfather.
Since the Crown Prince kept it so secretive, it would be tough to find out anything domestically. The Special Action Department’s top-secret files might contain some descriptions, but she couldn’t access them. She needed to verify from external sources.
Wan Chu’er stayed in the study, turned on her computer—which, though incomparable to the one in the basement, was still much stronger than the best available on the market. Her fingers flew across the keyboard, her brain working quickly. She first looked up mafia information, comparing identities, and finally found the ex-boyfriend of the Crown Prince’s sister.
Looking at the photo on the screen, indeed handsome and charming with deep and long eyes, he did not seem like a simple person.
It turned out this guy went under a pseudonym to study in the M country, where he met the Crown Prince’s sister. According to subtle clues from the school, their dramatic meeting and falling in love while hiding their true identities, only revealing their identities when they needed to part ways after graduation, naturally led to family objections—a classic love story!
