Chapter 461: So You’re Married Too
CHAPTER 461: CHAPTER 461: SO YOU’RE MARRIED TOO
Turns out it’s Qin Xiangmei, could it be that she’s also been admitted? Indeed, she has moved in.
"You’ll stay here," the nurse said, pointing to another bed. Right now, only Qin Xiangnuan was staying here. There were four beds, with an attached restroom; it was considered a relatively high-end ward.
The nurse arranged a bed for Qin Xiangmei, and then went to check on Qin Xiangnuan’s situation. Seeing the names of the two, she was quite surprised.
"Oh, your names are quite similar. That’s really some fate."
Qin Xiangnuan just smiled, yes, fate.
The nurse helped Qin Xiangnuan hang a new IV bag and handed her a thermometer. Qin Xiangnuan placed it properly and leaned back against the pillows, flipping through a book. It was just a bit inconvenient with one hand.
After the nurse left, Qin Xiangmei sneered.
"Qin Xiangnuan, what, you caught SARS too, waiting to die here?"
Qin Xiangnuan truly felt that Qin Xiangmei’s brain and IQ had issues.
"Yeah, you’ve come in too," she replied without anger. Qin Xiangnuan couldn’t be bothered with Qin Xiangmei’s provocations. Getting angry with certain people, she felt, was just foolish, because some people weren’t even worth her attention,
Qin Xiangmei snorted, lying on the hospital bed with an IV hooked to her arm, which restricted her movements. Even using the restroom was quite troublesome. She took out her phone and called Song Wang.
"Song Wang, send the housekeeper over, I’m in the hospital," she shouted angrily into the phone.
"SARS? You’re the one with SARS, I have an upper respiratory tract infection, respiratory tract, do you understand? Not pneumonia, nor SARS. The doctor said it’s just inflammation from an upper respiratory infection, and a hospital stay of a few days will do. Send the housekeeper over."
Whatever Song Wang said on the other end satisfied Qin Xiangmei, who then smirked at Qin Xiangnuan, lifting her chin.
"What, no one’s coming to keep you company? Poor as a church mouse, that’s what you are. You just suffer through it alone."
Qin Xiangnuan closed her eyes, too lazy to bother with her.
Soon after, Song Wang arrived, followed by a housekeeper.
"How come she’s here too?" Song Wang was quite surprised; he hadn’t expected to see Qin Xiangnuan here.
"Who knows," Qin Xiangmei snickered. Then, as soon as she saw Song Wang, she started complaining about this discomfort, that pain, calling the doctor in several times already. Each time the doctor said it was nothing serious—it was clear she was just making a fuss over nothing, moaning and groaning out of sheer boredom.
Song Wang was running back and forth without a moment’s rest. Finally, Qin Xiangmei shut up, but then she started griping to Song Wang again, saying things like the Song family was heartless. Song Wang had to listen, to endure, his face visibly turning sour. Of course, everyone was afraid of catching SARS, so it was normal for them not to visit.
None of this really matters now - he’s here, and even if his parents wanted to come, he wouldn’t let them. What kind of place is a hospital, with so many people running fevers? Are they here to get treated or to get infected? And what about his parents? It’s not like Qin Xiangmei’s parents haven’t visited either - it’s just a few hours by plane.
Although he was a bit upset, he had married Qin Xiangmei himself and he could understand her situation. After all, no one feels good when they’re sick, and on top of that, his parents didn’t allow him to visit, only sending the maid over. But even the maid took off, so Qin Xiangmei ended up venting all her anger on him. He patiently soothed her for a long time. Qin Xiangmei was no fool - she knew that a bit of complaining was enough to make Song Wang feel somewhat guilty, but if she went on too much, she would definitely become annoying.
Song Wang sat there for a while and gave Qin Xiangmei quite a bit of money. When the maid arrived, she took care of Qin Xiangmei. Thankfully, this was a regular ward, otherwise no one would get through the door. Even so, there was no way the maid could stay there every day to take care of her - earning money is one thing, but what’s the use of money if you’ve lost your life.
The maid brought a pile of things, got her hands free, and left. Qin Xiangmei mocked Qin Xiangnuan for quite a while, eating the food brought by the maid with a mouth that wouldn’t stop boasting. How could Qin Xiangnuan not know that, as it turned out, Qin Xiangmei could be so childish?
Click, the door outside opened.
Jian Zhiqing came in, holding a lunchbox in his hand. As soon as he entered, he removed the mask from his face.
And once he stepped inside, he noticed there was an additional person - a familiar face.
"She came too?" Jian Zhiqing walked over, sat down, and casually mentioned it, without any intention of greeting. She was just a stranger to him, and if Qin Xiangnuan didn’t like her, he felt the same.
"Here for the dumplings."
Jian Zhiqing opened the lunchbox and placed it in front of Qin Xiangnuan. "Try it. It’s your favorite, shiitake and egg. Just boiled and tossed in scallion oil, still warm, but you can’t eat chili, so eat it just like this."
He said that and handed chopsticks to Qin Xiangnuan.
"Have you eaten yet?" Qin Xiangnuan ate a dumpling, and the taste that filled her mouth was so satisfying, especially after having eaten the bland hospital food for so long.
"Of course," Jian Zhiqing brought the lunchbox closer because Qin Xiangnuan could only use one hand, the other was hooked to an IV.
"Then I’ll eat," she said as she picked up another dumpling with the chopsticks, and then she remembered something, "The thermometer is still in my mouth."
"I’ll get it," Jian Zhiqing helped Qin Tongnuan take out the thermometer. It seemed the temperature wasn’t too high.
Just in time, a nurse came in. Jian Zhiqing handed over the thermometer.
After checking it, the nurse shook the thermometer and pocketed it - thankfully, the temperature was normal. "Oh, having dumplings?" This nurse loved to joke and was quite easy-going; the patients liked chatting with her.
"Yeah," Qin Xiangnuan pointed towards the lunchbox in Jian Zhiqing’s hand, "My husband brought it back. Do you want some? There’s plenty."
"No, no need," the nurse waved her hand. She definitely wouldn’t have any - "That’s a love meal from your husband, how could I eat that? Alright, I’ll make my rounds now. Let me know when the IV is finished."
"Okay, thank you," Jian Zhiqing stood up and showed the nurse out, while Qin Xiangnuan continued to eat her dumplings, making Qin Xiangmei’s heart fill with who knows how much hatred.
Oh, so she’s married now and found herself such a man. Qin Xiangnuan isn’t simple at all. Qin Xiangmei scoffed inwardly, feeling even more discontent. The Siheyuan is Jian Zhiqing’s - that will be Qin Xiangnuan’s in the future. Where did this woman get such good luck to marry better than her? And Jian Zhiqing didn’t look like a poor man - able to afford a Siheyuan, plus those people calling him ’Secretary’. It’s like a blind cat ran into a dead mouse - how could someone like Qin Xiangnuan ever get married, what stroke of luck did she come upon in a past life?
