Rebirth in 1980: The Farm Wife Makes a Comeback
Chapter 490: Just One Glance
CHAPTER 490: CHAPTER 490: JUST ONE GLANCE
"Alright," Qin Xiangnuan was a bit disappointed, but since Dongsheng had made the choice, she respected his decision. She planned to transfer the ownership of the shop to him another day, making the restaurant his. Then he and Granny Lu could run it together, which would take some burden off Granny Lu, sparing her from worrying too much. Of course, the money they made would be their own.
Actually, Dongsheng was right; the other two options really weren’t suitable for him. Only what he chose himself would be what he liked, and only then could he forge ahead with determination.
That evening, when Granny Lu returned, Qin Xiangnuan told her all about it.
Granny Lu nodded continuously, approving of the idea. In fact, she had also been considering her grandson’s future. She didn’t need to worry about her two grandkids; both were settled with their own families and businesses, with no concerns for the future. But her grandson was now the worry on her mind.
His leg was in such a condition, and he didn’t have the abilities of Qin Xiangyang or Qin Xiangnuan. How was he to live in the future? She had thought of bringing him to her store and having him take over in the future. What she didn’t expect was for Qin Xiangnuan to be willing to transfer the shop to Dongsheng. That shop was worth a lot of money; even if it stopped operating in the future, just renting it out monthly could bring in thousands of dollars. Moreover, it was a profitable business earning a considerable sum of money each year.
Qin Xiangnuan was always efficient in handling matters. The very next day, she already transferred the ownership of the property to Dongsheng. She didn’t need to do this, but it was to give Granny Lu some peace of mind. She knew what Granny Lu was thinking about, already planning for her grandson’s future. With no education and his leg in such a condition, what would he do without something to rely on in the future? She did have some money, but it was not enough to live on in Capital City.
Now that Dongsheng had such a shop, she could sleep peacefully.
Qin Xiangnuan didn’t feel any discomfort about it. The shop was originally intended for Granny Lu, and giving it to Dongsheng didn’t make much of a difference. In fact, their main source of income wasn’t from the shop, but from the lands they were still farming, which probably couldn’t be cultivated next year.
Internet cafes were very profitable nowadays. Her and Jian Zhiqing’s dividends amounted to millions each year, so the little shop was not a major concern. In the future, when Dongsheng got married, she would give him a property to either live in or rent out, at his discretion. This way, Granny Lu’s wishes would also be fulfilled.
She put aside the design plan in her hands, feeling dizzy lately. Could she be sick?
"What’s wrong?" Jian Zhiqing hugged her from behind, "Why do you look so pale?"
Qin Xiangnuan felt wronged, and probably only in front of this man could she express so many emotions. Not just because he was her husband, but also because they had grown up together since childhood. In this world, no one understood her better than him.
"I don’t feel well," she buried her head in Jian Zhiqing’s chest, clutching his clothes tightly. Her voice was unusually soft, sweet as sticky rice candy, showing a bit of a woman’s coquettishness. Who said she wasn’t charming? In front of Jian Zhiqing, she was absolutely unreasonable in her petulance.
"Where do you feel uncomfortable?" Jian Zhiqing placed his hand on her forehead, which didn’t feel hot.
"I don’t know, dizzy," Qin Xiangnuan rubbed her face again, feeling dizzy; she wanted to sleep.
"I’ll take you to the hospital for a checkup."
Jian Zhiqing took Qin Xiangnuan’s clothes to prepare for a hospital visit, to put their minds at ease.
"No, no," Qin Xiangnuan resisted the idea of a hospital, indeed who would like that? Saying so, she started to undress, planning to sleep it off and hoping to feel better when she woke up. In the end, Jian Zhiqing still took her to the hospital, it was better to get checked for peace of mind.
Lately, he had also felt that Qin Xiangnuan was not quite right. She was very sleepy; previously, she could get up and join him for morning exercises, but since returning from Xiang Yang’s place, she refused to get up in the mornings.
It was indeed somewhat unusual, not like her usual self.
In the hospital, the doctor asked a few questions, which Qin Xiangnuan answered.
Jian Zhiqing slightly narrowed his eyes, as if he sensed something.
The doctor gave them a pile of test orders, each of which had already been done.
Now they were sitting here waiting for the results.
"Brother Jian, am I sick?" Qin Xiangnuan finally spoke up after a while. The feeling inside the hospital was quite unpleasant, the pressure constantly pressed against her chest, almost making it hard for her to breathe.
"It’s okay," Jian Zhiqing patted her shoulder, "don’t worry, it’s not an illness."
Qin Xiangnuan lightly touched her lips and leaned her head on Jian Zhiqing’s shoulder, waiting in a somewhat heavy silence,
Soon after, her test results came out, but Jian Zhiqing’s expression was quite strange.
Qin Xiangnuan’s heart suddenly felt uneasy; it hurt. Could it be a serious illness? That she wouldn’t make it.
"What nonsense are you thinking about?" Seeing her look like she was about to cry, Jian Zhiqing knew she was thinking negative thoughts. He walked over, showing her the medical report, "Look, I’m showing it to you right now. Obviously, it’s not a serious illness, otherwise, why would I bring it over?"
"It could be fake," Qin Xiangnuan turned her face away, unwilling to even glance at the medical reports. She just felt that Jian Zhiqing was deceiving her. Otherwise, why would the doctor order so many tests for her?
Jian Zhiqing straightened her hair, laughing, "Rest assured, do I look like there’s something wrong with the way I am smiling?"
"You are finding joy amidst suffering."
Qin Xiangnuan squinted her eyes.
"Really?" Jian Zhiqing touched his own face, his smile rather ugly, or perhaps fake?
"A thief if not a conman."
The corner of Jian Zhiqing’s eyes twitched slightly; the girl was really hard to please. Did he have to laugh, or did he need to cry for her to believe that he was sincere and not lying?
"Aren’t you going to look at the results?" Jian Zhiqing coughed lightly, placing the test results in front of her.
"Indifferent about one’s own life and death."
"Just take a look," Jian Zhiqing tried to negotiate with her.
"One look?" Qin Xiangnuan hesitated. Actually, she thought, even if it meant death, at least she, as a person of this world, should know about it. She couldn’t live in ignorance; she might have been clueless in her past life, but in this life, she wanted to live with awareness.
And she had made up her mind that the test results were not good and, of course, she was prepared for the worst.
"Just one look," she steeled her expression; she would only look once, otherwise, she feared she wouldn’t be able to resist grabbing Jian Zhiqing and bursting into tears, which would be embarrassing.
Yes, one look. Jian Zhiqing held back his laughter, to avoid this young lady really getting upset. He opened the medical report and placed it in front of Qin Xiangnuan. At first, she was somewhat reluctant, but after giving it a glance, it didn’t seem as terrible as she had thought.
