CHAPTER 368: CHAPTER 368: FIRST TIME TRADING STOCKS (SECOND UPDATE)
The night was deep, and as it was time to leave, Lian He and Yiyi were reluctant to part.
Lian Qingyang had to drag Lian He away forcibly. If they stayed any longer, in case Sister Xiao Yue got angry, he would never have the chance to come over again.
Sister Xiao Yue seemed nice, but sometimes when she became stubborn, she could be utterly unreasonable.
"Xiao Yue..." Zhang Tingyu hesitated to speak before leaving. Today, Lian He’s gaze towards Tang Yue was too odd, she didn’t know if they had noticed anything amiss, but she just felt that Lian He’s gaze was really...
Zhang Tingyu didn’t know how to describe that look.
Lian He, in his suit and leather collar, looked mature and steady at forty-something years of age, a successful businessman. He was an entire generation apart from Tang Yue.
"What’s wrong?" Tang Yue saw her like this and guessed that she was wrong, so she explained, "Tingyu, he... is my biological father."
"Ah..." Zhang Tingyu gaped in shock, finding it incredible as she looked at Tang Yue, feeling that it couldn’t be possible.
"My father, Tang Zhengde, is my stepfather," Tang Yue confided to Zhang Tingyu as a friend, thus she didn’t hide this from her.
"Xiao Yue, I understand now," Zhang Tingyu interrupted her, realizing that since he was Tang Yue’s biological father, that explained Lian He’s gaze.
Although Zhang Tingyu didn’t quite understand why Tang Yue wouldn’t acknowledge her own biological father, there must be some secret not known to others.
Otherwise, Lian He wouldn’t be so cautiously trying to please her.
And Tang Yue wouldn’t call Lian He as Mr. Lian for no reason.
"Xiao Yue, I was just worried he had bad intentions towards you. Since there are none, I’m relieved," Zhang Tingyu smiled, laying her hand on Tang Yue’s, saying, "No matter if your surname is Tang or Lian, or whose daughter you are, I recognize you as my friend."
"Me too," Tang Yue smiled lightly.
Under the night sky, Zhang Tingyu was gentle and charming, and Tang Yue had a demeanor like orchids in a secluded valley; both were equally beautiful. A night breeze blew, lifting their long hair. Their friendship had lasted from high school to university, never fading with time.
*
Another weekend, sunny and bright.
Mo Siyu had left to deliver goods, and his mandatory weekly trip to the fleet no longer held any attraction for Tang Yue.
University courses weren’t too many, and after being busy for a while, Tang Yue relaxed a bit, planning on lazily sleeping in. But once the time came, Tang Yue’s biological clock woke her without fail.
Tang Yue opened her eyes hazily and watched the sunlight crawl in through the window; she stretched with a big yawn.
After preparing a sumptuous breakfast, Tang Yue was surprised to see Bai Qing still at home, so she asked, "Bai Qing, don’t you usually have plans on weekends?"
"Today I’m free," Bai Qing responded, enjoying her congee with preserved egg and lean pork with a contented look.
At first, Bai Qing found guarding a college girl quite dull, but now she didn’t feel that way anymore.
She enjoyed staying with Tang Yue, liked Tang Yue’s delicious cooking, and the clothes she made that were both comfortable and fitting, allowing her to be combat-ready at any moment.
The casual clothes she previously bought from stores were comfortable, too, but none were as nice-looking as those made by Tang Yue.
After just a few months of living together, Bai Qing had already considered Tang Yue part of her family.
"Why don’t we go shopping?" Tang Yue suggested.
Bai Qing replied casually, "What’s so fun about shopping?" Although she was a girl, she had absolutely no interest in shopping.
"We can go eat something delicious," Tang Yue said, her own mouth watering. Jing City had many delicacies, and she had tried quite a few, but every time she had been in a rush, never having such leisure time to enjoy.
"Delicious food?" Bai Qing’s eyes immediately lit up.
Half an hour later, on the famous food street in Jing City, Tang Yue and Bai Qing were like two little kids, holding and eating food, discussing which store had the tastiest offerings.
Having only walked halfway down the street, Tang Yue was already full and could eat no more, her stomach stuffed, particularly after the spicy lamb skewers that made her guzzle water.
"Bai Qing, don’t you think it’s spicy?" Tang Yue asked in astonishment as she watched Bai Qing continue to eat. Bai Qing seemed to be eating even more than her and appeared to handle the spice much better.
"The spiciness is satisfying." Bai Qing was content. She had been here before but never like today, hopping from one place to another, sampling the best each had to offer.
Tang Yue gave her a thumbs up.
By lunchtime, neither of them could eat anymore, so they decided to take a walk to digest their food. The sun was just right – not too hot, but pleasantly warm.
The two of them chatted and laughed as they strolled until Tang Yue suddenly spotted a securities company.
Stock trading?
Tang Yue suddenly recalled what her uncle had said, and she remembered hearing that stock trading could be quite profitable these days.
With that thought, Tang Yue decided to go inside and see what the fuss was about.
Bai Qing followed her into the company, a place she had only heard of but never entered.
Tang Yue was a complete novice, not knowing the first thing about it.
Upon entering, they were greeted by someone. But seeing that Tang Yue and Bai Qing were two pretty young girls, no one took them seriously.
After asking a few basic questions, Tang Yue started to look around on her own.
Even though she didn’t know which stocks were good, she felt that those vaguely familiar to her were definitely profitable.
After looking around, Tang Yue decided to start by investing US$ 1,000 to give it a try.
"Xiao Yue, can you really make money with this?" Bai Qing hurriedly asked, pulling on Tang Yue’s arm.
Tang Yue smiled and said, "I don’t know, but what if we do make a profit? I’m just going to try it out."
"Then I’ll give it a try, too." Bai Qing followed suit and invested US$ 1,000.
"Bai Qing, aren’t you afraid of losing money?" Tang Yue felt a sense of trust and accomplishment seeing how readily Bai Qing agreed.
Bai Qing pursed her lips and said, "It’s okay, I trust you. It’s not your fault if I lose."
"Good, we might actually make some money," Tang Yue replied, not saying much else. It was her first time trading stocks, and she was both curious and expectant.
"We’ll come back in a few days," Tang Yue said as she pulled Bai Qing away to wander around some more.
Bai Qing looked back and asked, "Aren’t we coming back tomorrow?"
"You go; I won’t. I’m going to the motor pool," Tang Yue replied. "The sun is so nice; I’ll wash and sun the blankets. With such good weather, it’d be a waste not to take advantage of the sunshine."
"You’re really diligent," Bai Qing said, looking at Tang Yue and secretly thinking that Mo Siyu must have incredibly good karma from his past lives to marry someone like Tang Yue.
The next morning, Tang Yue went to the motor pool, while Bai Qing headed to the securities company. She might not understand the trade, but there were others who did. After a brief explanation, Bai Qing learned that her investment of US$ 1,000 had grown to US$ 1,500 overnight.
That is to say, she had made a profit of US$ 500 in just one day!
