CHAPTER 290: 290. PICK UP STATION, IS THIS REALLY NOT MOVING HOUSE?

Not trusting Shuzhen to watch over four small children by herself, Lianshan abandoned the original plan to pick them up at the station.

He decided to have their steady and outstanding eldest son, Lian En, represent them as a couple to meet them at the station. As soon as he said this, Chenchen stepped up, insisting that he, too, had matured enough to represent his parents.

Before Lianshan and Shuzhen could say anything, Miss Xinzhi and Xinyue chimed in together that favoritism towards boys over girls was unacceptable.

Either they all stayed home, or they got treated equally.

Looking at the five members of the eldest brother’s family and Second Brother Liu, Shuzhen thought it might be best to forgo the whole station pick-up process altogether, lest the kids joined in and caused chaos.

But she understood that Lianshan and the older brothers all pampered the kids to no end!

As soon as they saw the eager expectations in their nieces’ and nephews’ eyes, all intentions to refuse went out the window.

Let’s go, let’s all go!

No worries about the cold or the hassle, everyone is going!

Amid cheers of "Second Uncle forever," and "Second Uncle is the best," Liu Shouyi dialed the number of his family’s food factory, asking people to bring over the two small box trucks used for deliveries.

The number of people just to pick them up had already grown to ten, and that was before adding Wu Liguo and his two accompanying guards, Lian Hai’s family of five, and Lian Yue’s family of five.

It was a total of twenty-three people and what was said to be a lot, a lot of stuff.

The two brothers each drove a truck, with everyone sitting in the truck cabins on the way there. On the way back, one truck would carry the stuff, another people, and somehow it would all work out, they thought.

Yet once the train pulled into the station, Liu Shouyi realized how naive he had been.

Apart from everyone carrying two large suitcases, this group had even shipped ahead a heap of stuff!

No wonder Uncle Wu had repeatedly stressed the need to pick them up, for sure, pick them up.

He said there was a lot of stuff, a lot of stuff, so much it couldn’t be described.

Seeing those twenty-six suitcases plus the storage area packed with at least three times as many items, Liu Shouyi was utterly shocked: "Uncle Wu, Haizi, Jianshe, are you all moving house?"

"You brat, what nonsense are you talking? I haven’t seen my eldest grandson or eldest great-nephew in five years. I haven’t even met the third one and the little girl since they were born. Now that we finally meet, I certainly need to prepare some generous gifts for them, right? If I’m not generous, the kids won’t be close to me in the future; will you take responsibility then?" Wu Liguo glared and threw a sharp glance at Liu Shouyi.

Liu Shouyi’s mouth twitched: So, this is why each child has been given a large suitcase?

Watching the grandpa who cherished his little mischievous nephews as if they were precious treasures, Liu Shouyi only felt exhausted, utterly exhausted!

For truly moving house, Lian Hai and Lian Yue’s families brought back all their luggage, clothes, and various odds and ends, and could only smile awkwardly at Liu Shouren.

No other choice, but breaking home is worth a fortune!

It’s easy to discard stuff, but setting it all up again costs money for everything, right?

Besides, it’s been two years since they last came back, so even Wei Lai and Wu Hao remembered to bring gifts and New Year items for Brother Liu, and Second Brother Liu.

As their uncles and aunts, how could they let the children look forward to nothing?

They had to buy, buy a lot!

They couldn’t match Uncle Wu’s gifting abilities, but they at least had to ensure everyone received something, right?

Liu Shouyi was helpless: What else could they do? It was time to speed up and start organizing!

After all, winter days turn dark quite early.

Luckily, with many items, they also had some strong laborers.

The suitcases and such looked dizzying and occupied a lot of space, weight-wise they weren’t light at all. But they were sealed well and easy to manage!

Moreover, each suitcase and bag bore labels with notes.

For instance, Wei Lai’s New Year goods for Lianshan’s family, Wu Hao’s special products for Lianshan’s family, Feng Anhuai’s New Year goods for Liu Shouren’s family, and Dong Shu’s New Year goods for Liu Shouyi’s family, making categorization easier.

After a thorough hustle and bustle, they finally loaded up one box truck entirely full and then some.

The worn-out Liu Shouyi rubbed his sore arms and sighed: "Today, I really feel the weight of sentiment. Oh, it’s so heavy and exhausting!"

"You, young man, that’s what happens when you sit around the office all day, accumulating laziness. You need to get up early and run five kilometers with me every day. After a month, you’ll feel fresh, and you’d never struggle with these things again." Wu Liguo gave him a contemptuous look, filled with criticism as he stared at Liu Shouyi.

The brat had never worked in the production team; instead, he set up his factory and became a boss.

His physique had changed from being like a skinny kid to getting rounder and rounder.

Liu Shouyi made a bitter face, trying to suck in his increasingly prosperous middle-aged belly.

But with an ample amount of fat, the effect was negligible, and he ended up being unintentionally hilarious.

This brought about laughter all around; Lian Hai even touched Shouyi’s belly, cheekily asking how many months along it was.

The result, of course, was Second Brother Liu chasing him around for quite a while.

Until he admitted his mistake and pleaded for mercy, repeatedly saying, "Second Brother, I was wrong," the matter finally came to an end.

After tossing and turning until about four in the afternoon, the group finally ’returned with a full load’ home.

As soon as the trucks entered the yard, Lianshan, Shuzhen, and Su Hongying came out to greet them with the four little ones.

After a round of greetings, Wu Liguo, grinning, reached out to the adorable little girl in Shuzhen’s arms.

Unfortunately, the little girl wasn’t as fond of this grandpa she had never met since birth as her three brothers were.

She shyly hid in her aunt’s arms, showing no intention of acknowledging him.

The little girl was a spitting image of the daughter when she was young, which melted Wu Liguo’s heart.

He quickly put on his most gentle, most kind smile and reached out to the little girl again: "Come, dear granddaughter, let grandpa hug you. Grandpa will buy you yummy treats, okay?"

"Be good, darling, let grandpa cherish you, grandpa will buy lots of goodies!" Shuzhen coaxed with a smile, yet the little girl still remained silent, burying herself deeper into her embrace.

However, little Jianbin, who was in Su Hongying’s arms, perked up at the mention of lots of goodies and joyfully reached out towards Wu Liguo: "Grandpa, hug! Buy treats!"

The look of anticipation was simply delightful to everyone.

Liu Shouyi and Su Hongying exchanged a helpless glance, looking at their little Fifth being held by the grandpa.

Despite the family running a food factory, wealthy and enjoying a high standard of living, they never mistreated these kids—how come this little fifth one was so focused on eating?

For the sake of treats, calling someone grandpa like that, they both felt grateful that the child was young and the father-in-law/dad wasn’t there.

If he was, they would definitely be suspected of withholding food from the child, leading to a serious round of criticism and education.
