Thinking of Jiang Xue, Mu Qiancheng’s heart was filled with guilt. He felt that he owed her a lot, especially this time, when she had just given birth. He should have stayed at home to take care of her for a few days.

But a phone call forced him to leave her and the child behind and set off on his return journey.

"I got a call about a mission, so I came back," Mu Qiancheng said casually, then walked to his bed to set down his luggage.

Seeing him put down his bag, his roommates gathered around and asked, "Did you bring something good to eat?"

For his colleagues, their favorite thing was to eat the specialties and snacks that each colleague brought from home.

"See for yourselves!" Mu Qiancheng placed the items in front of his comrades, got up, washed his face, and then left the dormitory to call home, intending to tell his parents and Jiang Xue that he had arrived.

Once the call connected, he asked Uncle Wang to have his family come to the phone, then sat down and waited.

He waited for around five minutes, estimating that his parents had arrived, then dialed the number again. Mu Siwu was still working in the fields, and Jiang Xue couldn’t go out, so it was Bai Yuhua who answered the phone.

Mu Qiancheng asked about Jiang Xue’s situation and urged his parents to take good care of their health before hanging up.

Although he already knew Jiang Xue couldn’t come to the phone, Mu Qiancheng still felt somewhat disappointed after hanging up.

He returned to the dormitory dispiritedly, and his roommates had already taken out and shared the food. Mu Qiancheng didn’t mind; after tidying up his luggage, he sat down at the table.
