Rebirth: Love in the Apocalypse
Chapter 135: Chiefs
CHAPTER 135: CHIEFS
After thinking about it, the two called Uncle Zhang.
"Uncle Zhang, how is our army doing?" Qin Wu asked.
"Relatively well." Uncle Zhang said and quickly continued.
"As of yesterday, the army had two thousand and one hundred soldiers. However, most are ordinary survivors."
"Not bad, but not enough." Qin Wu said, and Mo Chenxuan nodded with a thoughtful expression.
They had a little more than one month to assemble a larger army.
However, Mo Chenxuan didn’t plan to recklessly recruit people.
After all, with regard to the army, quality was always better than quantity.
"Go back first." He said, looking at Uncle Zhang.
After Uncle Zhang left, Qin Wu turned to Mo Chenxuan.
"What are you thinking?" She asked.
"We need more people."
"We have just returned, and our team’s reputation will soon spread. It’s only a matter of time before more people rush to join our army and affiliated teams."
"Mmh." Mo Chenxuan nodded and began explaining.
"I am not worried that we won’t be able to recruit people. I am worried we won’t have enough time to train the recruits."
Qin Wu frowned when she heard this.
With a severely outnumbered army, their effectiveness would rely on strategy and cooperation.
Considering that, the army needed more training before they began clearing their territory at the beginning of February.
"It will be New Year’s Eve in two days..." Qin Wu started, her eyes narrowed in thought.
"Our reputation will spread and ferment these few days. We can begin recruiting on the second day of the new year. If we have a sizeable army by the second week of January, we can focus on training for the remaining two weeks of the month. What do you think?’
"Alright." Mo Chenxuan nodded.
After deciding, the two lazed on the sofa, accompanying each other and watching anime on the big screen.
Afternoon gave way to evening, evening turned to night, and before they knew it, it was already morning of the next day.
After breakfast, Mo Chenxuan and Qin Wu went to their study and began looking at reports.
Three hours later, Mo Chenxuan raised his head and looked at Qin Wu.
"Wu’er, our territory will need leaders." He said.
"Mmh." Qin Wu agreed and quickly continued.
"Our current system is good, but it won’t work for a large territory. We need formal positions and roles."
Hearing this, Mo Chenxuan nodded and began talking.
"Excluding you, Uncle Zhang, and Aunt Zhang, I trust Xu Fei the most. I plan to let him handle the finances. What do you think?" He asked.
"He is suitable." Qin Wu immediately agreed.
Xu Fei was loyal, powerful, intelligent, trustworthy, dependable, and hardworking.
Since they met, the man had never let them down, and they always felt at ease leaving things to him.
Considering that, Qin Wu felt Xu Fei was a natural choice to handle their territories’ finances.
"Chief Financial Officer. What do you think of that title?" She asked.
"It’s good." Mo Chenxuan nodded but soon frowned.
"However, we still need to give him a choice since the Xu family is now the leader of the Seven Clans Alliance."
"Do you think he will choose to leave?"
Mo Chenxuan shook his head when he heard this.
Xu Fei was filial.
However, he was also his own man.
More than follow the laid-out path, he preferred to forge his own future.
Based on his understanding of the man, Mo Chenxuan believed Xu Fei would choose their territory instead of the Seven Clans Alliance Territory.
"Since we have a CFO, we should also have a Chief Operating Officer, Chief Military Officer, Chief Research Officer, Chief Personnel Officer, Chief Legal and Enforcement Officer, Chief Works Officer, Chief Health and Education Officer, and Chief Strategy Officer." Mo Chenxuan stated, and Qin Wu couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
"Nine Chiefs..." She muttered with a thoughtful expression.
"It’s not a bad start." She finally concluded.
"Xu Fei will be the CFO, Uncle Zhang the COO, Xiao Junxie the CMO, Lu Hao the CLEO, Lin Rongrong the CHEO, and Xu Anying the CSO."
"Not bad choices, but what about Aunt Zhang and Lu Yanyan?"
"Aunt Zhang is a good deputy for Xu Fei." Mo Chenxuan said and quickly continued.
"Xu Fei is often away, hence a trustworthy person is needed to deputise the CFO position. Aunt Zhang is the most appropriate, especially because she has a space."
"Makes sense." Qin Wu nodded.
"As for Lu Yanyan, she is most suitable for law enforcement. Although she is young, she has a powerful ability and can keep troublemakers in check. It’s not a bad idea to make her second in command of the law enforcement department."
"I get it." Qin Wu said, but stared at Mo Chenxuan with curious eyes.
"What’s your plan for Xu Anying?" She asked.
"She has the divination ability and can help us navigate around pitfalls."
After saying that, Mo Chenxuan narrowed his eyes and continued.
"Wu’er, what do you think about asking her to try and find some researchers for us?"
Hearing this, Qin Wu gasped.
"I am annoyed we didn’t think of it earlier." She said.
"We also need to recruit a team of urban planners, designers, architects, engineers, and other experts. Otherwise, it will be too late to look for them after we conquer our territory."
"I didn’t expect establishing a territory to be so much work." Qin Wu complained, and Mo Chenxuan rubbed her hair with a doting expression.
"It’s worth the hard work." Mo Chenxuan said, and a trace of anticipation flashed in his eyes.
He and Qin Wu had been together since before the start of the apocalypse.
However, their relationship had never reached the last step.
This was not because they didn’t love each other.
Rather, it never felt like the right time or the right place.
Although neither he nor Qin Wu felt a proposal and wedding were necessary, Mo Chenxuan didn’t want to compromise just because they were living in an apocalypse.
Because of this, he planned to marry Qin Wu in a grand wedding after establishing their territory.
