CHAPTER 12: CHAPTER 12: HANDLED

Early in the morning, Quinn Lockwood was jolted awake by a nightmare. She had been utterly exhausted the night before, having dropped off Cameron Grant at the Lowell Family’s place, then quickly returning to the Sinclair Family’s home to avoid worrying Grandpa Sinclair.

She sat up, her body aching all over, and stared blankly at Savannah Lowell’s big white bunny slippers by the bed.

What a mess, ever since she reincarnated into Savannah Lowell’s body, nothing good has happened. Elias Sinclair, that arrogant and insanely narcissistic guy, just seized every chance to taunt her. The only normal person in the Sinclair Family is Grandpa, unlike Elias who can’t wait for her to leave. She doesn’t even understand how Savannah could have fallen for this guy.

"Gurgle, gurgle!"

Quinn awkwardly patted her stomach. Yesterday, she had been so upset by Elias that she forgot to eat. She grabbed a piece of clothing from the nearby rack and put it on, frowning at herself in the mirror.

Whatever, this will do, she really can’t appreciate Savannah’s taste.

Slipping on the bunny slippers, Quinn headed directly for the bathroom.

"Click!" As the door lock clicked, Quinn quickly halted and tried to turn back.

"Peeping Tom!"

Savannah Lowell? Ugh, what a mood destroyer! Elias Sinclair mocked lightly.

Just about to leave, Quinn turned back: "Elias Sinclair, let me tell you, you walk your own narrow path, I’ll walk my wide road!"

Seeing the disdain still present in Elias’s eyes, Quinn felt her anger surge again: "You’re so narcissistic! I didn’t mean to, I don’t even like you, why would I peek at you!"

After speaking, Quinn suddenly clutched her chest, filled with confusion. What was happening; why did her heart hurt? Remembering Elias was still there, she shook her head and faced him directly.

What spell is this woman trying now, a sympathy ploy perhaps? Smirking, Elias said disdainfully to Quinn, "Ha!"

Ah~ what kind of person is this! After saying to go their separate ways, it seems she hasn’t misjudged Elias, an arrogant man indeed.

"Pfft!" Quinn was just about to retort when she was interrupted by the sound of hurried footsteps upstairs.

"Mr. Sinclair, something happened at the company!" A man in business attire hurried upstairs and said urgently.

"Hmm, got it! No rush, I’ll have breakfast first." Elias said calmly without any rush.

Perhaps reassured by Elias’s calm demeanor, the hurried man also relaxed and said slowly, "Okay, Mr. Sinclair, Mr. Kramer is waiting for my report, I’ll head off first."

"Hmm!" Elias nodded and, ignoring Quinn who was standing by listening, walked downstairs towards the dining area.

Entering the bathroom, Quinn was full of curiosity, what was going on, was something wrong? But Elias sure kept his cool just now, kind of impressive actually.

"Pfft, Quinn Lockwood, are you crazy, just got mocked and now you’re praising the enemy?"

Rubbing her cheeks, Quinn walked to the sink, placed her phone on the counter, squeezed out some toothpaste, and prepared to brush her teeth.

The flashing phone screen caught Quinn’s curiosity.

Brushing with one hand, Quinn opened her phone and messages popped up swiftly, from X, QQ, Baidu, Sogou.

Quinn casually clicked on a headline: "Sinclair Group’s partner suddenly withdraws investment, Sinclair Group rumored to be financially paralyzed!"

The highlighted text made Quinn understand the morning’s happening: "No wonder the company was in such a hurry looking for Elias Sinclair early in the morning, but which partner pulled their investment from the Sinclair Group?"

Shaking her head to stop overthinking, Quinn decided it was somewhat good news; it would give that conceited Elias a headache for a while, but seeing how calm he looked, maybe he had seen it coming!

Finishing her routine, Quinn dashed downstairs in a hurry, partly because she was genuinely hungry, but also wanting to see Elias’s sulky face would be sort of amusing.

Secretly chuckling, Quinn sat at the dining table and sneaked glances at Elias. Milk, eggs, bread!

Hmm, all quite standard, but his slow and deliberate demeanor really showed no urgency! Although, she had to admit, with that messy fringe and his calm presence, Quinn did retract a bit of her regret for Savannah.

"Have you seen enough?" Noticing the persistent gaze on him, Elias grumbled with dissatisfaction.

Quinn hurriedly responded, "Pfft! Like I was looking at you, narcissist!" His sixth sense seemed so acute, just trying to catch a glimpse of his frustrated expression and got caught, geez, so awkward, luckily she reacted promptly.

"Heh, quite the act, no wonder you’re born for the stage, but don’t blame me for not warning you, you’d better know when to stop." Elias sneered dismissively.

Seeing Quinn feign ignorance, Elias couldn’t help but find her a bit ridiculous. This woman never stayed put and was a master at causing trouble. Now, who knows what trick she’s contemplating, but he’d play along and see what she’s up to.

Noting Quinn was about to speak, Elias turned and left, heading to the garage.

Watching his departing figure, Quinn couldn’t help but curse Elias to be jobless in her mind, eager to see how he’d handle the company’s crisis.

Mrs. Lewis soon brought out breakfast, and the already starving Quinn quickly grabbed the fragrant bread, forgetting all about Elias, and started eating heartily.

Arriving at the company, Elias headed straight for the service elevator, which could take him directly to the twelfth floor, where his office was.

"Activate all emergency funds, convene the board, boost the stock price, reallocate all merchandise, and pressure them!"

After instructing his secretary, Elias walked straight to Joyce Kramer’s office.

"Why are you only here now?" Joyce frowned slightly; the company was in chaos, yet he was nowhere to be seen.

"No worries, it’s already handled."

Elias coolly opened his computer, turned the screen towards Joyce.

Meanwhile, Quinn put down the nearly finished bread, picked up her vibrating phone.

The first thing she saw was a bold headline: "Elias Sinclair saves Sinclair Group from the brink at a critical moment!"

"This, this, not even half an hour has passed!" Quinn raised an eyebrow.

She had to admit, though Elias was egotistical, his efficiency was undeniably high. Maybe that’s why Savannah liked him.

Whatever, why focus on him, Quinn thought she must be out of her mind. Since when was she so interested in him, perhaps Savannah’s subconscious was driving her?

Rubbing her head to clear the unnecessary thoughts, Quinn picked up her phone to call Cameron Grant. She needed to stay focused on her brother, not Elias Sinclair.

Thinking about Ariana Lynch and Jonah Hansen, that despicable pair, Quinn clenched her fists. Memories of her past life flooded back, suffocating her with grief, the burnt scent growing ever stronger.
