CHAPTER 2: CHAPTER 2: TOO DANGEROUS AND TOO ANNOYING

"Grandpa, why are you here?"

Elias Sinclair frowned as he looked at the torn divorce papers, his face instantly darkened. When he turned to Quinn Lockwood, his eyes were full of disgust and contempt.

Quinn Lockwood scratched her nose. Did he misunderstand something?

"Humph! If I didn’t come, you brat would have bullied Savannah away!" Grandpa Sinclair, seeing his grandson’s unapologetic face, became more and more furious, raised his cane and said, "Brat, looks like you need a lesson!"

"Hey Grandpa, don’t get so worked up..." Quinn Lockwood reacted quickly and stopped him, not because she was afraid of Elias getting hurt, but because the old man’s health wasn’t good. She didn’t want him to get even more upset.

After all, in this large Sinclair Family, only Grandpa Sinclair truly cared for and protected Savannah, fearing Elias would bully her. The way he rushed over, he must have come to support her.

She sneaked a glare at Elias Sinclair, then turned to Grandpa Sinclair with a smile: "Grandpa, you’ve misunderstood. Elias... Elias didn’t bully me. I’ve come to terms with it. Since he doesn’t like me, it’s not good for me to cling on. This is for my own good, too. I believe if we can’t be husband and wife, we can still be siblings. Please don’t be angry, I’ll come back to visit you often."

Upon hearing this, Grandpa Sinclair’s whiskers twitched with emotion, his aged yet sharp eyes looked at her with affection: "Our Savannah can say such humbling words for this brat, Elias is truly lucky to have married such a good wife! But Grandpa will never agree to this divorce! Rest assured, if this brat tries to force you again, I’ll break his leg!"

In the past, if Grandpa Sinclair spoke to Savannah Lowell like this, she would have been moved to tears, expressing how much she loved Elias, but now she felt not relieved but rather conflicted.

The man opposite heard this and glanced at the unwilling Quinn Lockwood, his sharp eyes narrowing, making it hard to read his emotions.

Grandpa Sinclair noticed Quinn Lockwood was still conflicted, glared fiercely at Elias, but then suddenly clutched his chest, his face turning pained.

"Oh... my chest hurts..."

Quinn Lockwood panicked: "Grandpa, what’s wrong? Elias, why are you just standing there, help out!"

Elias Sinclair raised an eyebrow, knowing full well the old man was pretending, but since it was his grandfather who raised him, he couldn’t bear to see him like this, even if it was an act.

With a tight-lipped expression, he coldly helped Grandpa Sinclair to the bedroom and called the doctor.

"Grandpa, are you alright?" Quinn Lockwood felt guilty sitting by the bed, waiting for the doctor’s results, knowing the old man’s illness was partly her fault.

Grandpa Sinclair shook his head, forcing a look of grievance on his wrinkled face: "As long as Savannah promises not to divorce this brat, Grandpa will be fine. Otherwise, I might just fall into despair, overwork, and die..."

Is it that serious? Why does it feel like something’s off?

Quinn Lockwood bit her lip, looking troubled, when suddenly a loud noise came from the doorway. Looking back, she saw Elias Sinclair had stormed out.

She secretly rolled her eyes, thinking how disrespectful it was for him to throw a tantrum while the old man was ill, just as Grandpa Sinclair spoke again, this time with a severe cough.

"Savannah... cough cough... won’t you agree? If you don’t, Grandpa might just... cough cough..."

The doctor packing his medical kit twitched his mouth at Grandpa Sinclair’s overacting but couldn’t resist the old man’s sharp glare, hurriedly saying, "The old man is suffering from emphysema triggered by emotional stress, it could lead to suffocation and life-threatening scenarios. It’s best not to let the old man have any major emotional upheavals, Mrs. Sinclair."

How is she supposed to continue the conversation now?

Quinn Lockwood pouted, her face falling, but she couldn’t bear the old man’s life being in danger, so she reluctantly nodded: "Alright... I’ll listen to Grandpa, don’t get angry."

Savannah always liked to pacify Grandpa Sinclair, rarely showing a domineering side in front of him, as he was her support within the Sinclair Family. So to the old man, her current change wasn’t too significant.

"Ah, I knew Savannah was the most filial! Don’t worry, Grandpa will deal with that brat for you."

"Then, Grandpa, you should rest. I won’t disturb you anymore."

Quinn Lockwood drooped her head and turned to leave, thinking she would have to find another way to get divorced. But since Elias disliked her so much, her future life might as well be as if she’s single.

Comforting herself with this thought, she sent the doctor away and planned to return to her room to sort out the body’s condition. Unexpectedly, as she went upstairs, a large hand suddenly gripped her shoulder.

Before she could gasp, she was pressed against the wall and the chest of a man!

In shock, Quinn Lockwood displayed an expression of disbelief and raised an eyebrow, "What do you want?"

In Elias Sinclair’s eyes flashed something strange, but only for a moment before his face turned gloomy, his tone mocking: "I just realized how scheming you are."

"Huh?" Quinn Lockwood was momentarily bewildered before understanding from his cold gaze: "You think I signed it on purpose and called Grandpa here?"

Elias Sinclair sneered, suddenly drawing close to Quinn Lockwood, his slender hand slowly caressing her neck. Despite the seemingly intimate gesture, it sent chills all over her body.

"Isn’t it? Savannah Lowell, you know I hate being manipulated the most, or could it be..."

He paused, his dark eyes narrowing dangerously: "The last time you secretly drugged me, was the lesson not enough, making you think I really wouldn’t do anything to you?"

Quinn Lockwood could feel his fingers tightening, her neck felt as if a cold venomous snake was coiling around it, making it difficult for her to breathe.

She recalled what he meant by drugging. Even though Elias Sinclair and Savannah Lowell had been married for almost a year, Elias had never touched her. To win this man over, Savannah secretly drugged him with an aphrodisiac, but ultimately failed, ending up imprisoned in the room by him without food for three days.

Why should she take the blame for this?! Quinn Lockwood’s face flushed with anger as she struggled: "Are you insane! I didn’t call Grandpa!"

The man seemed not to hear, his voice cold enough to make one shiver: "Savannah Lowell, don’t make me remind you again, my feelings for you are nothing but disgust, so stop entertaining any thoughts you shouldn’t have."

Perhaps due to the body’s natural response, Quinn Lockwood’s chest ached with sorrow, yet only for a moment before she snapped back to reality.

This man was more dangerous than she had imagined, but also more detestable than she had thought!
