CHAPTER 22: CHAPTER 22: ARE YOU OKAY

When Quinn Lockwood got home in the evening, she was utterly exhausted, both physically and mentally.

She never imagined that Anna would be so stubborn and that the agency would handle things this way.

A scandal involving a celebrity this big, and the agency did nothing, allowing it to grow, and even had the audacity to tell her it was for her own good. Nonsense!

Filled with the anger from earlier in the day, Quinn Lockwood’s mood was far from good. As soon as she entered, she saw Elias Sinclair’s glacial expression, making her mood even worse.

Taking advantage of the fact that Elias hadn’t seen her, she thought about hiding if she could and walked straight to her room without acknowledging him.

Elias had been working and came down for a cup of coffee when the two unexpectedly collided.

Seeing Quinn Lockwood in such a hurry, Elias sneered with disdain. What’s this, feeling guilty? Seems like she was indeed pretending earlier in the day.

But he was busy and had no time to bother with her, as long as she didn’t start trouble.

However, sometimes things happen precisely because you don’t want them to.

"Thud."

As the sound of the coffee cup hitting the ground filled the air, everything froze.

Quinn Lockwood rubbed her head in pain, wanting to curse whoever was so careless. But when she looked up and saw who it was, she suddenly became like a frightened deer, not daring to make a sound.

At that moment, Elias Sinclair’s face was dark, still holding the pose of just having held a coffee cup, clearly not fully recovered from what had just happened.

Glancing at his coffee-stained shirt, a deep anger filled his eyes, his eyes growing bloodshot, "You asking for it?"

"I’m sorry."

Quinn Lockwood dared not look Elias Sinclair in the eye and immediately took out a tissue to wipe the stain on his shirt, but he dodged her.

He didn’t want to suffer a second injury.

"Keep your eyes open when you walk next time."

Elias spoke with disdain, loosening his tie while warning her.

Hearing this, Quinn Lockwood instantly straightened her back. She was distracted while walking and made his shirt dirty, and she was sorry for that, but since they both bumped into each other, they were both at fault. Why did he only blame her?

If he had seen her just now, they wouldn’t have collided, especially since he was holding coffee. Since neither of them saw the other, how could he single out only her for blame?

It wasn’t just his shirt that got dirty; her head hurt from bumping into the coffee cup too.

"That line applies to you too."

Quinn rolled her eyes. Even though she knew Elias always had something against her, she wasn’t someone to be bullied easily.

Oh, she’s learned to talk back, and not just once.

Elias raised an eyebrow, disdainfully wiping his shirt with a tissue. However, not even two seconds later, he already frowned in irritation.

The coffee wouldn’t come off, and it even dirtied his hands. Elias’s face darkened, his patience reaching its limit.

"Quick to show your true colors, quite a performance during the day."

During the day, Quinn knew he was talking about the clarification in the news. She’d just returned from the company about that matter, and he had to bring it up now.

"How was I pretending?"

The desire to apologize vanished, and Quinn Lockwood even thought he deserved the coffee spillage.

"Didn’t you want to reveal the truth to everyone? But there’s been no news."

Elias had a mocking tone. He had had some hope, but now it seemed he had been expecting too much.

Savannah Lowell, how could she be so calm in front of the camera, she didn’t even intend to clarify anything. She still relied on the media to stir up attention as usual.

She wanted to reveal the truth too, but Anna wouldn’t listen to her. What could she do? It’s not like she hadn’t tried.

But being falsely accused by Elias for no reason, Quinn Lockwood felt a mix of grievance and anger. Just because she was Savannah Lowell now, did everyone have to look at her through colored glasses?

"I talked to the company, but they wouldn’t allow a statement."

Perhaps not wanting to be misunderstood again, Quinn Lockwood felt it necessary to explain. Whether he believed it or not, it was the truth.

The company?

Elias was speechless; how long was this woman going to keep up the act?

Savannah Lowell would never obediently follow the company’s arrangements. With her personality, if it wasn’t her will, no one could force her.

Looking at Quinn Lockwood’s earnest face, Elias felt a surge of disgust. His surprise in the morning seemed like an insult to himself.

This woman would never change.

Clearly, she did it on purpose.

Finding no common ground, Elias didn’t want to entangle with her anymore. Casually, he threw the stained shirt into the trash and returned to his room.

Standing still, watching the shirt in the trash can, Quinn Lockwood rolled her eyes at Elias’s departing figure. The life of the rich was extravagant, throwing away custom-made shirts from abroad just like that.

Oh well, she didn’t expect him to believe anything she said anyway.

Returning to her bedroom, Quinn Lockwood took a hot shower, hoping to wash away the bad luck. Meanwhile, Elias seemed to have the same idea.

As she came out, she noticed the phone vibrating—it was Anna.

Quinn hesitated a moment, especially since they had had a disagreement during the day.

However, the contract stated that an artist must answer their agent’s calls under any circumstance. Usually, if there was nothing urgent, the agent wouldn’t call.

"Hello, Anna."

Quinn put the phone on speaker, speaking while drying her hair.

"Be at the set tomorrow morning at eight for a rehearsal. I’ll send the address shortly."

Perhaps still affected by the day’s events, Anna didn’t want to say much, giving a brief directive.

"Which scene?"

Though Quinn instinctively thought of her scene with Ariana Lynch, the company’s attitude during the day had her suspecting they might have arranged other work for her amid the hype.

"Of course, it’s your scene with Ariana Lynch."

Anna felt more vexed, thinking Quinn was deliberately provoking her. "You’re not thinking of backing out at the last minute, are you?"

After all, this kind of thing happened often with Savannah Lowell, and Anna felt somewhat uneasy.

Upon hearing it was indeed the previous scene, Quinn instantly relaxed. She had prepared a lot for Ariana Lynch, and this was the first step of her revenge. How could she back out?

"No, don’t worry, Anna."

Reassured, Anna let go of her concern, adding at the end, "Don’t be late tomorrow."

Quinn chuckled helplessly, realizing how much everyone feared Savannah Lowell’s notorious tardiness, "Alright, I got it."

After hanging up, a thrill ran through Quinn; the moment had finally arrived.

Ariana Lynch, are you ready?
