CHAPTER 28: CHAPTER 28: DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT

Quinn Lockwood leaned against the door frame, unable to resist checking the news again; the online rumors were overwhelmingly targeting her.

"Savannah Lowell is so shameless, she’ll use any means necessary."

"People nowadays are really desperate to marry into a wealthy family."

"How can someone like her be a celebrity? Isn’t this spreading the wrong values?"

Quinn Lockwood silently endured these rumors. Despite how harsh the words were, her fingers continued to swipe the screen, deciding to keep reading. She needed to understand the true thoughts of others to make changes herself.

As she read, Quinn Lockwood’s hands froze on the screen when she came across a comment that nearly made her tremble: ’Savannah Lowell has a mother who gave birth to her, but not one who educated her.’

Quinn Lockwood felt a sting in her nose and touched her cold, damp face, realizing she was crying.

The comments on the screen made her think of her own mother. Countless days and nights, she missed her mother with an aching sorrow only she knew.

Everyone has parents; no one has the right to judge others’ parents.

When Elias Sinclair passes by Quinn Lockwood’s room again and hears the soft sobbing inside, he frowns.

Is she crying?

He naturally doesn’t believe Savannah Lowell would cry because of online opinions, but a rare, unfathomable complexity still arises in his eyes.

The next morning, Elias Sinclair descended the stairs only to see Cameron Grant rushing in energetically, which surprised him slightly.

"Morning."

Elias Sinclair greeted him proactively, without asking about Cameron Grant’s intentions.

Actually, there’s no need to ask; Elias Sinclair already knows Cameron Grant came because of yesterday’s news.

"What was going on with yesterday’s news? Is Savannah really pregnant?"

Cameron Grant looked puzzled. He had wanted to come over last night after seeing the news but didn’t want to disturb them too late, so he came this morning as soon as he couldn’t hold back any longer.

Elias Sinclair has always been rejecting his sister, so he certainly wouldn’t believe such absurd news about pregnancy, but repeated reports in the news were making him confused.

"You have to ask your good sister."

Elias Sinclair glanced at Cameron Grant, confirming that he came because of yesterday’s news.

"Aren’t you worried at all?"

Cameron Grant looked around; the house didn’t show any tension, the servants continued their orderly work, and Elias Sinclair seemed indifferent.

Apparently, the in-laws can’t compare to the family; Mr. and Mrs. Lowell were worried sick when hearing the news, anxious for their daughter.

Elias Sinclair remained silent, as if the matter had nothing to do with him.

Cameron Grant shook his head helplessly, seeing no point in asking further, so he got up to find Quinn Lockwood, just as she was coming downstairs.

"Savannah, are you okay?"

Looking at Quinn Lockwood’s slightly red eyes, Cameron Grant couldn’t help but worry.

"Why did you come, bro?"

Quinn Lockwood rubbed her eyes, somewhat pleasantly surprised, but her gaze inadvertently fell on Elias Sinclair and gradually dimmed.

"Mom and Dad are worried about you, so they sent me to check on you. What’s going on?"

Cameron Grant had a gentle expression.

Having grown up together, he knew well that though Savannah Lowell was unruly and headstrong, she wasn’t inherently bad; she needed time and a guiding influence. Unfortunately, she had encountered someone who didn’t love her.

Cameron Grant’s caring voice made Quinn Lockwood’s heart sink, and her nose suddenly stung.

Though she wasn’t the real Savannah Lowell, she had no other relatives besides her yet-to-be-reunited father. Cameron Grant and Mr. and Mrs. Lowell’s concern made her feel less alone and warmed her heart.

"Yesterday..."

"Buzz Buzz..."

Just as Quinn Lockwood prepared to explain, her phone inconveniently rang.

It was Anna.

Quinn Lockwood had to make an apologetic gesture to Cameron Grant and then answered the call.

Cameron Grant didn’t mind, letting her take the call first, while Elias Sinclair looked disdainful.

"Anna, what’s up."

Quinn Lockwood frowned, knowing without asking that it was all about yesterday’s news.

"You need to come to the company immediately."

Anna hung up right after speaking, not with the urgency Quinn Lockwood expected.

She wondered if the agency planned to ignore it again.

Quinn Lockwood quickly put on a jacket, walked to the entrance to change shoes.

Seeing Quinn Lockwood’s anxious manner, Cameron Grant followed, worriedly asking, "What’s happened?"

"I have to go to the company."

Having put on her shoes, Quinn Lockwood stuffed everything into her bag at the door and, before leaving, told Cameron Grant, "Don’t believe anything said online."

With that, Quinn Lockwood hurriedly rushed to the company.

Cameron Grant frowned at Quinn Lockwood’s retreating figure; if she told him not to believe the online statements, then why was she in such a hurry?

"Since they’re gone, why not sit down and have a drink?"

Elias Sinclair’s casual voice drifted over from behind, and Cameron Grant turned to see Elias Sinclair with a bottle of wine.

"You’re quite carefree." Cameron Grant teased with a hint of amusement, then walked over.

Thinking about it, apart from working, they hadn’t just sat down quietly to have a drink in a long time.

"The Lowell’s recent growth has been good; I suppose some credit goes to you."

Elias Sinclair didn’t respond verbally, simply offering a glass of wine.

"No matter how good it is, it can’t compare to Mr. Sinclair."

Cameron Grant smiled while accepting the wine, perhaps enjoying the jest, and added, "Having Mr. Sinclair pour me a drink—a true honor."

His face always bore a welcoming smile, making it hard to be angry, and Elias Sinclair merely curled his lips helplessly.

The two sat across from each other.

After some business chit-chat, Cameron Grant checked his watch, his mind again turning to worry over Quinn Lockwood, wondering how she was now.

"Did Savannah cry last night?"

Cameron Grant remembered seeing Quinn Lockwood’s eyes slightly red in the morning.

Unable to avoid the topic, Elias Sinclair mildly frowned, but felt there was no need to hide anything. He leisurely savored a sip of wine, "Yes."

"Apparently yesterday’s news had quite an impact on her."

Cameron Grant lowered his head, lost in thought.

Seeing this, Elias Sinclair casually swirled his wine glass, "It’s all her own doing; there’s no need to care."

Cameron Grant stared at him in disbelief, "Are you so sure?"

If they’re mistaken, the misunderstandings between them would only deepen.

He didn’t want to see Savannah Lowell in a confused state so soon; she had already lost reason over Elias Sinclair. For Mr. and Mrs. Lowell’s sake, he didn’t want her to harm herself more.

Elias Sinclair hadn’t expected Cameron Grant to care so much about Savannah Lowell, nor had he expected Cameron Grant seemingly didn’t believe it was intentional on Savannah Lowell’s part.

He downed his wine in one gulp, "Let’s see how it unfolds."
