CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: SILENT DEVOTION

Quinn Lockwood hurried to the company and went straight to Anna’s office.

"What’s with the news yesterday?"

At this moment, Quinn was exceptionally agitated. An almost identical news story appearing twice in a short period—no matter how brainless a reporter is, they wouldn’t report such redundant news."

"How would I know? I called you here to deal with this issue, not for you to question me."

Anna shrugged, clearly feeling a bit guilty.

"Don’t tell me you don’t know what’s going on. News in the entertainment industry is all about exclusivity, real-time updates, and a constant stream of topics. Old topics quickly get replaced by new ones. If not someone deliberately orchestrating this, why would any media be dumb enough to report previous news again?"

Quinn’s words were firm and forceful, even though she wasn’t Savannah Lowell and didn’t have long-term experience in the entertainment industry. But that didn’t mean she was an idiot who could be easily fooled.

Quinn’s stance really opened Anna’s eyes. It was the first time she’d seen Savannah so clear-headed and able to analyze things so well.

"Alright, it’s all part of the company’s arrangements."

Unable to withstand Quinn’s questioning, Anna told the truth. In fact, she had called Quinn to the company this morning just for this matter.

"What?"

Quinn widened her eyes, feeling utterly absurd.

"I brought you here to tell you to stay out of this business and be mindful of your words and actions."

Anna didn’t expect Quinn to react so strongly. But she shouldn’t be giving pointless clarifications to the media as she did last time.

"How can the company do this? Don’t you know there’s a lot of negative comments about me online? Are you planning to ignore it?"

Before coming, Quinn had never thought it would turn out like this.

Hearing this, Anna felt even more speechless. It’s just some comments. If an artist can’t even handle this little pressure, how can they survive in the entertainment industry?

"Don’t mind those. Now that your fan base is growing and your exposure is greatly increased, isn’t that good? The company specifically created this public opinion to make you the center of attention. You should thank the company instead of coming here to shout."

The more Anna spoke, the angrier she became. Of all the artists, Savannah was the most disobedient. How did she end up having the bad luck to manage her?

Since her debut, Savannah had caused numerous troubles for the company. Now, finally, she was getting some recognition, yet she still didn’t want to comply with the company’s arrangements, making everything so unease.

"I’d rather not gain attention in such a way. Besides, those fans don’t genuinely like you; they’re just looking to attack maliciously."

Quinn didn’t want to gradually become another Savannah. She wanted to change how others viewed her previously.

"I really don’t understand what you’re resisting. Opportunities for such publicity are something others can’t get even if they want them. Why can’t you make good use of it?"

Anna was so angry that she paced back and forth.

Quinn then realized that all of this was the company’s ploy. No wonder they didn’t let her clarify from the start. They must have planned it all along. She could only blame herself for thinking too naively before.

If they wanted her to endure so much cruel verbal abuse in this way, she absolutely couldn’t do it.

"No matter what you all think, I will never compromise."

Seeing the company’s firm attitude, Quinn didn’t want to waste more words. After speaking, she prepared to leave.

"Welcome, Ms. Ariana Lynch, to our company. We look forward to cooperating with you."

Outside the office, the company directors, along with all the employees, lined up neatly for a welcome ceremony.

Quinn looked around. Above her was a long banner with the same words as those just spoken by the leading director. On every desk was a previous still of Ariana Lynch, a large poster of Ariana was posted at the entrance, and there was even a cake and champagne prepared in the center.

This was quite a spectacle.

"What’s the company doing?"

Quinn asked Anna in confusion. She had rushed straight to the office earlier and didn’t notice these decorations outside the door.

"Ariana Lynch came to discuss cooperation with the company. The directors outside specially prepared to welcome her, which shows how much they value her."

Anna’s tone carried impatience, her eyes fixated on Ariana Lynch, full of envy.

How come she never had such good luck to manage a popular, respected artist?

Following Anna’s gaze, Quinn saw Ariana smiling and greeting the company directors, with a well-dressed woman holding documents standing beside her, who should be her manager.

"Wow, I’m so envious of Ariana. I wish the company would value me like this one day."

A young artist from the company next to them pouted and cast envious glances at Ariana Lynch.

"Not only is Ariana’s acting good, but she’s also a great person. She even brought gifts for everyone."

The company personnel began to discuss gradually, primarily voices of admiration and praise.

Upon hearing that, Anna remembered and handed a box to Quinn, "This is a gift from Ariana Lynch, everyone gets one."

Quinn glanced at the gift they were talking about—a watch from a niche brand. Her clear eyes gradually filled with a thick sense of hatred. She didn’t take it.

If the company weren’t valuing Ariana Lynch’s current status, they wouldn’t be discussing cooperation. And that woman, how could she so openly spend her father’s money to play the good samaritan.

"Heh."

Thinking of Ariana Lynch’s hypocritical face, Quinn couldn’t help but let out a cold snort.

"Why are you snorting? You have no ability, yet you won’t follow the company’s arrangements. No wonder you can’t get popular."

Anna assumed Quinn was throwing a diva fit again and sarcastically criticized her.

She angrily placed the watch back on the table, looking from Ariana Lynch to Quinn, feeling completely unbalanced in her heart.

Quinn ignored her, as if she hadn’t heard.

This company was becoming more and more disappointing to her—not only not helping her with public relations but also deliberately staging publicity stunts. And now they were sucking up to Ariana Lynch; it was utterly ridiculous.

Quinn shook her head. She didn’t have the time to bother with so many things now. She needed to figure out how to prove her innocence to the public. She had been so decisive in front of Elias Sinclair, and she didn’t want to be despised by him again.

With that thought, Quinn picked up her bag and walked toward the door.

On the other side, at Sinclair Group.

Joyce Kramer was sitting in front of a computer, typing away at the keyboard. In front of her was the news that had just come out yesterday.

"Mike, how’s the handling of the situation going?"

From her tone, it was clear she was very anxious.

"Mr. Kramer, we’re working on it." A voice came from the other end.

"Good, as soon as possible."

After hanging up, Joyce buried herself in front of the computer again.

She was quietly dealing with the previous news regarding Elias Sinclair. She had promised that as long as it was about Elias, she would give it her all.
