CHAPTER 36: CHAPTER 36: I HAVE A FAMILY

After dinner, to ease the tension between Nina Sinclair and Quinn Lockwood, Grandpa Sinclair thoughtfully instructed Nanny Warren to bring out some fruit, preventing them from leaving.

"Nina, Savannah, try these fruits. I specifically had an old friend bring them back from Vientara."

Grandpa Sinclair handed the fruit to the two of them.

"Thank you, Grandpa."

"Thank you, Grandpa."

The two said in unison, and a gratified smile instantly appeared on Grandpa Sinclair’s face.

Nina glared disdainfully at Quinn, who pretended not to see it.

If it weren’t for Grandpa Sinclair, she wouldn’t be wasting her time sitting here.

"Savannah Lowell, don’t get smug. My brother doesn’t like you. I want to set him up with my best girlfriend."

Nina tilted her chin, showcasing her pride.

Quinn sneered inwardly; that’s even better.

"Don’t be ridiculous."

Elias’s face darkened instantly.

His sister’s usual antics and bickering with Savannah Lowell were one thing, but now she’s joking about involving him.

Nina pouted unhappily, wondering why both Grandpa and her brother had to speak up for Savannah.

"Grandpa, I’m not feeling well. I’ll head back to my room."

Quinn said as she got up to leave; she really wasn’t in the mood to watch their self-righteous sibling act.

Did they think this would make her angry? They were thinking too much.

Grandpa Sinclair shook his head helplessly, thinking that Quinn was upset because Nina was planning to introduce another woman to Elias.

The family returned to their rooms, each with their own thoughts as they went to sleep.

The next day after breakfast, Nina sneakily went to the door of Elias’s room.

She knocked and peeked her head in, "Brother."

Elias was adjusting his tie and looked at Nina with some confusion, wondering what his mischievous sister was planning now.

"What’s up?"

Elias asked in a deep voice.

"Hehe, nothing much, just wanted to ask if you’re busy today."

Nina placed her hands behind her back and walked over to Elias, staring at him with some anticipation in her eyes.

Elias tied his tie in a perfect knot and raised an eyebrow, "Speak properly."

"Well, if you’re not busy, I’d like you to come to the café with me for a coffee."

Nina’s eyes darted as if she was calculating something.

For a long while, Elias didn’t respond, so Nina tugged at his hand, shaking it and pouting, "Brother, it’s been so long since you’ve gone out with me. Just this once, okay?"

Though curious why his sister would suddenly make such an invitation, since she rarely visited, he had no reason to refuse.

Elias paused slightly, "Okay."

At the café.

"Nina, over here."

As Elias followed Nina into the café, a girl waved at them.

Nina waved back excitedly and then led Elias over.

"Faye, this is my brother, Elias Sinclair."

As soon as they arrived, Nina eagerly introduced Elias to the person in front, even making a victorious gesture at her.

She then pointed to the girl in front of them and introduced her to Elias, "Brother. This is my best friend, Freya Caldwell, the daughter of the Caldwell Group’s chairman."

Freya displayed a long-unseen shyness upon seeing Elias, her cheeks instantly reddening.

She cautiously extended her hand, "Hello, I’m Faye."

Elias glanced at the girl who looked as young as his sister Nina, showing no reaction.

He had heard of Freya Caldwell, the pampered and only daughter of the Caldwell Family, spoiled and arrogant from a young age.

It seemed her personality was similar to Savannah Lowell’s.

Elias looked at Nina with a gloomy expression, unable to believe his sister had deceived him for the first time.

Even though he didn’t like Savannah Lowell, she befriended someone with a similar personality.

Perhaps detecting the dangerous aura from Elias but not wanting to disappoint Freya, Nina quickly and awkwardly lowered Freya’s outstretched hand.

"Have a seat, have a seat."

Nina tugged at Elias’s sleeve, afraid to meet his eyes, feeling guilty.

"Since you have your friend here, I’ll leave."

Elias said coldly, ready to head out after speaking.

Nina and Freya panicked instantly; Nina now knew her brother was genuinely upset because of her deception. Afraid of stopping him, she gave Freya a look.

Freya quickly understood, stepping forward to grab Elias’s arm, blinking, "Elias, I really like you. Can you give me a chance to be with you?"

Elias looked at the girl about his sister’s age with an incredulous expression.

"I already have a family."

With that said, Elias left with large strides, leaving Nina and Freya standing there, dumbfounded and disappointed.

Quinn woke up and, surprisingly, didn’t see Nina and Elias, which put her in a good mood. She headed to the set early.

Today was the third scene of her and Ariana Lynch’s film ’Mist in the Rain,’ and it was a scene with the male lead.

Quinn had only recently learned that the male lead in this show was actually Dylan Quinn.

"Hey, morning."

Quinn didn’t expect Dylan to arrive so early too. From her understanding, the earlier parts were solo scenes for her, and he didn’t need to come so early.

"Morning."

Dylan, reading the script, handed a bun to Quinn.

He had grown accustomed to seeing Savannah Lowell arrive early, having always heard about Savannah through others, but at least now he didn’t think she was as bad as people said.

Quinn reasonably took the bun and leaned over to look at the marked-up script in Dylan’s hand, various highlighter colors making different notes.

She took a bite of the bun, puzzled, "Why do you mark all the lines and actions?"

They usually marked their own lines for clarity and distinction, to avoid grabbing lines or missing responses.

But like Dylan, marking everything was quite rare.

Dylan glanced at Quinn, thinking of her mediocre acting skills, finding it hard to explain, "Um, it’s for differentiation."

"I know that, but is there any secret to it?"

Quinn looked on curiously, thinking of Dylan’s vastly superior acting skills, feeling an urge to learn from him.

"You want to know?"

Dylan stared at Quinn, initially thinking she was joking, but seeing her sincere look, knowing her poor acting skills couldn’t feign it.

Quinn nodded.

"It’s noisy here, let’s talk as we walk."

Dylan said, glancing around and motioning for Quinn to move to a more open area to chat.
